Keeping Up With The Yates': A Couple's Training Log

Absolutely gorgeous family.
 
I cannot believe our baby turned 3 today. He's not a baby anymore & I may have cried about it some. He has come so far from the tiny little thing he was when he was born. We've been enjoying Christmas (with yates84 Mom) & bday fun. Things will get serious in here again on Wednesday. We are heading home tomorrow afternoon.

Glad you all had a good Christmas! Yeah 3rd birthday was trying for my wife. Not sure why, then again every birthday for one of the kids is an emotional thing with her, and our boys will be 22 in July! :)

There is just something about 3. They no longer look or act like babies, & are really becoming their own little people. It's tough to let go of sometimes!!

My nephew is in the terrible 2's. Everything is... MINE, MINE, NOOOOOO.... MINE!!! The other day, I asked if I can have a bite of his food and he shoved it his mouth and screamed MINE!!! Lol, I'm waiting for the sweetheart 3's. :D

Haha, that's what I'm hoping. Both his parents are very patient and soft spoken so I hope he turns out like them. Not like his crazy auntie!

That is a very normal & actually healthy phase. They do get past it, but learn that it is ok to be possessive about what is their's.

I've always said "NO" is an important word to learn & be comfortable using...especially in regards to physical contact, etc....it's never too early to let her know it's ok to say "NO". It definitely can test patience though.

This is all good to know. I had an old co-worker who said that NO wasn't allowed with their 2 little girls, so I always assumed it was not a good thing.

Besides the NO, my nephew is a sweetheart who loves other kids. ??

I feel the opposite. I want my child to be comfortable saying NO (especially to strangers), and he is. If he isn't comfortable with someone touching him, he tells them. If he doesn't want to share a special toy, he says so. I look at like this...I'm allowed to say NO about physical contact, sharing, etc, if I'm uncomfortable with it...why wouldn't I allow my child to? He is a person after all. The fact that he's a child shouldn't negate him deserving the respect of his wishes.

Yes, I agree. He made it seem like not saying no to them or not letting them say no will make them better kids. "No" was a "bad" word.

There are no "bad" words in our house. They are just words. Context & how the word is used IS important though. We've had to become more aware of how we use our words that are directed at others (even playfully between hubby & I). I don't want him to use his words to offend or deliberately hurt, but outside of that...words are just words

I'm such an a**hole, lol. He copies everything I say and I tried to teach him how to say, "aww, sh*t!" Lol, my mom put a stop to that really quick! Ha

Well, our little one said "you had a f*cking car in your way," the other day when yates84 was blowing the horn at a lady that pulled right out in front of us. LoL. He definitely picked that up from us...we both have road rage issues. Again...context....he used it how he's heard it & he wasn't cursing AT anyone. So.....

Coming off this deloading and feeling like a million bucks! I'm going to be tearing the gym down all the way into my next cycle and don't plan on slowing down any time soon. Sit back and watch, it's about to go down.

It was hard because I wanted to keep adding weight but I can definitely tell that it helped
