New Orleans Ice Cream Company Praline Crunch

Overall this was different from what I expected reading just the label. Does it top the copious thick caramel swirl loaded in Haagen Dazs Pralines and cream? I would say HD gets a slight edge due the that swirl factor, but the pecans in this pint were superior in flavor with a sugary coating and caramel aftertaste. The base provides elements of nutmeg, cinnamon, and brown sugar on top of a strong caramel flavoring. I was skeptical since nuts are one of my least favorite mix-ins, but with how well the base and mix-ins complimented each other it shocked me. New Orleans takes a basic combination and enhances the flavoring by a large margin. While this may be something you may pass when seeing the amount of selections offered off the New Orleans line, I would highly suggest giving this a scoop.

Grade : B+

Seems like the Pecan MMs were a huge miss

Item: Pecan Pie Milk Chocolate M&M’s
Purchased Price: $2.98
Size: 9.9 oz. bag
Purchased at: Walmart
Rating: 3 out of 10
Pros: Crunchy shell. Melting chocolate. Milk chocolate is involved. Tanning lotion for yetis. Mimes directing traffic.
Cons: Where are the pecans? Where is the caramel? Why is the green M&M standing beside a hay bale on the cover? Unanswered inquiries. I will never be the next Houdini.

Powered by Ice Cream said him and his wife loved them. The impuslive buy said the complete opposite
Powered by ice cream said the PSL ones sucked horribly and threw them away while Impuslive Buy gave them a high score

for 2-3$ its worth a scoop. a review is simply that a review. Not everyone has the same taste buds.

I still can't find them anywhere. Either of the new flavors... been looking all over north america ha.

no because I can't take it home with me :(

Sure you can... In your checked bag it is fine.
I have brought PB from the U.S. several times by plane.
Just can't put in your carry on

i have 2 super walmarts in erie, checked both as well. no luck

I've looked in at least 6 different walmarts, 5 kroger's and about 10 other misc grocery stores in US (memphis, atl, dallas)/Canada/Mexico. They're like the loch ness monster of my life right now.

I have only heard it found at walmart so far, but other stores may carry it. Again not 100% Sure. Either way erie is the pits for getting stuff. better off trying to find a needle in a haystack haha

Move to Canada and then come talk to me lol.
We get your guys scraps 2 seasons later!

Found the pumpkin puffins at target

Checked my Co-OP since we do not have a whole foods and both wegmans and no dice

Report back in a few days after I try them

There is a company based in Toronto (Gelato Fresco)...they sell their pints of Gelato at Whole Foods.

Just grabbed a pumpkin, based off the vague description not expecting any mix-ins. Curious to see if a CDN company can play with the big boys.

Hey now! You're almost CDN the amount of time you are spending here and eating our cheap veggies! Lol

Broccoli rabe every. Damn. Day. It's literally like 5x more expensive at home. Also some mixed seafood (squid, octopus, shrimp, mussels) and shirataki noodles. Simple but really good. Especially for hotel cooking ha

yeah talenti my bad
All better than DQ,
DQ is similar to BnJ IMO

both meh.

Totally disagree. Turkmen hill may be better but I haven't had many with as good of mix ins as the pie crust pieces in the dq version.

Mix ins? Looks like an amazing, legit pumpkin purée base

Its the best damn flavored pumpkin ice cream made. By a long shot, its not even close. It is almost custard like consistency.
The amount of nutmeg/cinnamon/clove in every bite destroys coldstone which has a great base. Handels has 0 mix-ins, but it does not even need it. They executed the ice cream to perfection and this comes from a Mix-in Junkie.

So no mix ins? That's a huge negative for me.

Saw the edit. Bummer. Looks worth a shot tho just based on the texture of the ice cream itself

For sure, but a swirl doesn't add that texture factor that good chewy mix ins do

The swirl adds a texture factor, what you talking about? You never had it, thats why you don't know. It has a thick/hard consistency to the swirl

A lot of Turkey Hill's Swirls are thicker/harder in texture. Which is another reason a lot of people like them.

it tastes like cinnamon chunks.

I had a whole tub of it last year bud. I know what it's like. It has a very light crunch and is super thick but still not as much chew as a chunk of pie crust.

I said it was my no.1 but I just wish it had mix ins. Then it wouldn't even be close

mine was hard like a thick/chunky mix-in you would find in ben and jerry's (which are harder in texture) Same with the PB&CO PB Swirl, and the other quarts I have had of Turkey Hill. Maybe you got a different or softer quart. All of mine have been very thick/hard in texture.

I don't know bro, with all the pumpkin stuff coming out now I don't think this makes the cut.

Sadly, it seems like pumpkin flavored items are becoming the norm where once, they were a nice seasonal flavors with only a limited amount of items. Now, it seems like companies sprinkle some cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etc on normal item and label it "pumpkin"

I looked into ordering Handels online ... Good Lord the shipping costs would make it over $20 a pint lol.

Same with McConnels.. It was like 84$ to ship 6 pints that each costed 10$.
No thanks.. while it gets a ton of awesome praise, can't justify it.

Come visit me and well scoot down to pittsburgh, so you can have first hand experience, and sample all 30+ Flavors like coldstone and Jeni's
