True. However, I highly doubt most people, especially those on forums, are competitive bodybuilders who are 230 lean and 270+ in the offseason, on gear, where it can be justified to have a high protein intake. Even at 300 grams, I think it is easy to get protein from whole foods with a scoop of protein per day. People tend to think, "I need to eat a bunch of meat." That isn't the case though. If one eats grains, certain veggies, certain fat sources, they can get a lot of protein from those sources alone.

You can look at labels to see if Taurine, Glycine, and even creatine is added into the "protein blend" If you go that route some others that come to mind are:

XF UP and UP2.0
ANS
RSP (could be sketchy though)
Controlled Labs
Universal/Animal
Dymatize
MTS
American Muscle
Muscle Elements
MyProtein
Beverley International
Champion Nutrition

But we know that all ingredients may or may not be on the label in this industry, so if you want concrete proof, you'd have to look for lab tests, I'm sure there is a list out there. But you have to keep in mind too that some of the companies will hire their own lab so there may not be 100% transparency there.
 
Got me some PES Select Snickerdoodle on its way now No more messin about hehe.. I've been out of the loop on protein powders for a while. I usually use Isopure as a base for all my smoothies now for years and rarely use blends, but this looks like a good one.

The strange thing is, I had no gas, no runs, just straight excruciating pain for 10 hours, insane cramping. It's now 2 days later and I still feel bowel pain when I eat a meal. I'm fairly certain this stuff inflamed my bowels and/or caused a small ulcer. It's pure evil in a tub.

Show me some muscle biopsy data showing x no filler protein significantly improve total lean body mass significantly more than y with added fillers like glutamin an other aminos

Then I'll be like, okay...

Till then, I'll take my personal anecdotal research an continue to recommend peeps get what they think is best for them, w/e reason that may be.
 
Bottom line is, any company who doesn't live up to label claims and uses controversial ingredients = shady (if not criminal) = ban stick in my eyes. Not going to be buying a single supplement from any of those companies, and going to tell others to do the same as much as possible.

There are only relatively a handful of good honest companies out there in this industry, it's pretty sad.

Where is the FDA amongst this whole mess? How are companies allowed to continue on like this? I think maybe some lawyers in the industry should get deeply involved.
 
Trutein by body nutrition is the best protein powder I've had. It's clean as hell and taste awesome. If you want to look at it go on bestpricenutrition.com they have it for a solid price and all the good flavors! I use to take isoflex but wised up and took this instead

I've never been a fan of muscle milk either, or champion. I think the taste is just awful.

and they have had some serious QC issues in the past with rocks, & Orings found in their product (Above links)
They have never provided a COA or 3rd party test to back their product. Everytime they are questioned greg will beat around the bush and not provide an answer.

Any reason you grouped PES and USPlabs together. Unless I missed it, both parties have come out and said they are not one and the same. Share stacks, ingredients, and other things probably yes but the evidence to prove otherwise that they are is very circumstantial. Hell I connected half of SNS old guys to PES more than USPlabs. You and No_Hype should have let this die last year.

Why am I posting this you say? Because some noob or unaware person will read what you typed and run with it. Then the cycle repeats itself

*however I do agree with your argument about buying from criminals lol. That seems to be a trend in this industry but I guess being popped for steroids is alot better than being popped for robbery or whatever solution said it was.

most people buy a product off taste alone without even looking at a label.
If you make something taste good and throw it into a massive blend they could give 2 craps less, most people do not even know what they are taking in their body and do not even read a supplement label before buying it. Most go off what X or Y Say , or through a review/word of mouth.
 
Exactly, that's why for the most part I like products that put dosage amounts on the label instead of prop blends. I mean at least they are saying that certain ingredients are at certain doses.

That's not to say that a company isn't as good because they don't put the exact dosage.

Isnt it odd that it's only brands that don't give you free product that draw your ire?

Isn't it odd that you'll look past criminal leadership of brands that give you free stuff and take their word for it on label claims?

Someone getting what amounts to a drunk and disorderly as an isolated instance isnt something I'm going to judge them longterm on.

Soneone showing a long term pattern of shilling for free product for half the supplement brands on the market while being more than happy to attack brands that dont give you free **** while also crying to the admins of forums whenever people aren't nice to you, is way worse than whatever bar fight greg got into

The majority of the stacks and things i use i buy
I have bought almost every PES Insider, I have purchased countless IC Deals, I have bought the recent Animal Whey Flavors, Ergonine Deal (got 9 tubs) , and i continue to buy and use Xtend + MTS Whey (just got the new flavors both in 5lb tubs) as well
I stick to the brands I support and trust. While you may like different brands thats cool. That is your personal opinion just like I have mine.

Maybe I should hire you to take care of my checkbook since you know exactly what i buy all the time :)

That was XXL (something). I use to drink those, 3 a day when I was bodybuilding. I use to order by the case. I mixed each one w 20 more oz of water.

I agree with going with companies you trust, but obviously the label means nothing. Whether they list glycine, taurine, glutamine on the label means zero, unless tested 3rd party no clue what is in it, prop blend or not in regards to all supplements. Look at the vitamin mess, real companies not even putting 10% of label. So yeah these tiny supp companies can be shady at best. Go with reliable names in my opinion OL, USP Labs, PES, Controlled, Finaflex, SNS. And yes I left some out.

Why should the label mean nothing though, and why should people just go along like this is the status quo?

Where is the accountability? How are these companies able to still exist?

Where are the laws that should be in place to protect consumers? I'm really at a loss how all this can continue on as it has. Is it just a matter that American quality standards/laws are very lax? I really don't get it...

Not living up to label claims = fraud.
 
I am not disagreeing with you. The answer is FDA needs to regulate the industry or somebody, but anything government related is a joke. Just saying go with who you trust.

The industry is regulated.

The FDA just needs to be more liberal with civil asset seizure and lifetime industry participation injunctions against repeat offenders.

I'd LOVE to see someone start up a fraud lawsuit against a handful of these guys. Mass fraud is no slap on the wrist. It's akin to grand larceny. Could shut some companies down.
 
I've had the Truitin lemon meringue for months now. I hate the sweetness of it and will probably only buy Optimum Nutrition from now on. Plain 'ol freakin' chocolate.

Apparently you can't shutdown a company with a class action lawsuit, you can only sue for damages. Have fun with that. If your girlfriend actually thinks you have a leg to stand on then she should find another profession. There's no criminal charges for this.

Its a breach of contract claim or FTC type fine for failure to meet label claims. You're not gonna be able to prove fraud.
 
juicy thread. sales dont worry me, i think it comes down to how greedy a company wants to be (spiking and making money) and thats anyones educated guess, basic whey can be had under 10 bucks a lb and thats without buying in bulk like companies do, so im not going to lose sleep buying bogos.


regret passing up on the modern protein insider though thats for sure.

worst stuff i had was a certain brick and morter store concentrate, some kind of clearance fruit flavor that reminded me of tums.

The lemon meringue sucks. Have you tried the chocolate for trutein? It's pretty damn good, and optimum is **** man it's a waste of money.
 
Worse protein hands down is the old GNC Challenge brand (yellow and blue) label Soy protein. It came in strawberry and chocolate....both flavors tastes like pure mud. 20 yrs ago protein got all these proteins yall want to taste like grocery store cake faded.
