Bigger, better...the Nutraplanetarium!

NP was one of my favourite US sites. I had high hopes for the new site but the loss of lots of info, a lot of my go to sup companies missing etc has just left me feeling a bit disappointed. I hope they get there act together otherwise they may lose a few loyal customers.

I have not been employed with NutraPlanet for the last few months unfortunately. From what I understand the company is under new ownership but I do not know the details. Contacting customer service would probably be your best option. Wish I could help yall out more but I just have no idea on the details of the current situation.

The new website format is so bad, its almost offensive.

It really is annoying. I hate complaining about but its horrible. Mobile doesnt work. Im guessing they might fix it.

^^^Big this. You need to make a new account, everything is gone.

My beloved Olympus Labs products are missing. NP had the best deals on OL too :(
I think we all need to contact CS @ NP to request Olympus Labs and the rest of our favs that are mising.

I actually really liked the layout nutraplanet had going prior to this change, perfect example of if it ain't broke why try and fix it?

I just emailed and here is their response to me.

I am not really sure of all the details. I know that there were investors that came in and dumped in some money to get it rocking and rolling again. I know that July 4th newsletter is going to be amazing and the site from that point is suppose to be back to BOSS status. Sam is still on board calling the shots, so from what I know, there are new investors but Sam is still the man in charge

I saw posted in the comments on their fb that they are still working to roll everything into the new website. Said that once they get everything in THEN a sale will happen to kick it off.

That shipping blows tho and the new layout (they did comment as well that this was just a skeleton on the site) is terrible.

Better be the best sale in their history to overcome this!

I hate the new layout too. Worst part? The 2011 New Year's sale banner doesn't flash when you open the page = EPIC FAIL

It's a soft launch. Think of it like a house. You start with something small. As time goes, you add on to it, add on to it, add on to it and add on to it. After a long period of time, what you have is very outdated and bastardized. Everything had to be gutted and start from scratch. The order history could not be saved. The upload time was almost a week to restore all of that, not knowing if it would work or not. With any merger there are bumps. That's why this was a soft launch. You can look at something in a non functional form, but until you make it live, you don't know where your holes are. This release was done in advance of the July 4th sales to allow time to fix the holes that exist.

There are brands that aren't currently listed, that will be listed. There are various reasons why this happened, just understand we're aware of that. Brands are being added, as long as the product selection is legal. Some brands didn't make it in the initial conversion because they were all out of stock and not recognized. A team is working around the clock to work on operational issues with the site. It may take up to 2 weeks to get everything worked out, but it's not for a lack of trying.

By combining our efforts we can negotiate better prices and shipping rates that make business sense. Understand half the people love cheap international shipping that has no tracking and takes 60-90 days to arrive. Then the other half complain and want to do charge backs because their package is taking forever. It's always a balance in trying to make people happy. We will be doing the best we can. Just give it some time and give constructive feedback. A brand new house was built, we will get the bugs worked out. The inventory additions alone were a massive undertaking. Building an all new platform to host 5k plus items, images, descriptions, logistics, etc is a massive.

Just stick with us. It might be bumpy at first, but the end result is going to kick ass.

Considering the massive effort is it to move, and to integrate a brand new website, I would expect fans of their and customers to cut them a break.

I miss that banner already ha.

WAS SO EXCITED TO ORDER, then I saw shipping jumped to $14 for me in Wisconsin.. what happened to 7.95 flat rate...

All options are being explored in regards to shipping. Multiple reps from the various shipping companies are coming in over the next week. It's REALLY difficult to get flat rate shipping, without a weight limit. Shipping costs are crazy now, it's hurt a lot of mail order sites. Just know that shipping is not being done as a profit center for the company. The goal of Nutraplanet, especially moving forward, will be to offer the best private line options possible at the best prices. There are things Nutraplanet had out of stock for a long time, that were in the bulk section. We have to see what people want, what actually sold and begin getting those new items in place.

These are the things that take time. Now that we can combine our efforts, we're hoping for great shipping options. We're aware don't worry!

Well it kind of was broke so they had to change platforms.

I'm just hoping they bring back flat rate shipping instead of the sliding scale.....at l east for US customers. The Australians /NZ are used to paying alot for supps and shipping. :D

True that. Shipping is a killer

What's up guys, wanted to chime in and give a full update on what's happening behind the scenes over @ NP.

First off, we finalized the move to NC and shipped out our last truck load today (3 full tractor trailers). During which we were overhauling the core platform of the site to pave the way for a succession of improvements e.g. articles, blogs, training videos, affiliate programs, etc...

Trying to accomplish all this within a week was an aggressive goal, and yes...we underestimated the timetable, but we're not afraid of challenging ourselves.

Regarding the site and it's current status, we're working on improving the layout and functionality for mobile and web browsing. Unfortunately, new accounts will need to be created. It was this or delay the site launch even longer than anyone wanted, not to mention incompatibilities with the old platform and the new.

Overall, I know that the current changes have been drastic, but bear with us...I promise the outcome will be much better.

As long Canada is included I'm happy ...we are not too far. We need to utilize NAFTA. :welcome:

We're exploring different shipping options to offer you guys...honestly, the flat rate shipping greatly impacted the company's operational costs which would ultimately force us to raise prices on products or increase shipping costs.

A few options we're considering is: raise flat rate shipping costs, offer tiered flat rate costs based on weight or price, actual shipping (what's currently implemented), or free shipping on a certain dollar amount.

Would love feedback from everyone...what would you choose?

Glad to see the reps in here. I think more than anything we just wanted to know what's up ha

Free shipping. Regardless of order ;)

In a srs though, flat rate or free at a price min is a huge plus as it allows you to place a large order and not get hosed with the "extra" cost at the end.

I would like to see 2 options:
- flat rate (with weight restriction)
- free shipping with min $ order
Applicable to Canada (I realize the minimum may be higher than US)

Honestly, free shipping anywhere internationally is tough. There are a ton of expenses when it comes to international shipping...clearance issues, holding costs, returns, etc...

We're going to implement FIMS shipping again for an economical option, but there's a tradeoff with price vs service (trackability/transit times).

I understand that, even if the min had to be really high like $150-200 I might do it every now and then.

I always like the FIMS no track option, fwiw I never complained how long it took

Glad to see Stryder is staying, no doubt in my mind Mike from 1Fast/SP and Sam will have the best site around. Hope we get a July 4th sale, although I am sure things are already crazy as is.

Yep, fims for international customers like myself was great. Always reliable and cost effective. Hope its reintroduced. I spent thousands of $ on orders from np over the past year and always used the fims shipping option of $7.95. Would not order much if shipping cost were higher as that would lead me to buy from other sites...

Good to see the reps back with the updates. Corbin is a good guy, you should out him back on board :)

hope nutra doesn't turn out like bulknutrition turned out when investors came in

Big difference, bulk nutrition was sold outright. Sam is still running things at Nutra. I don't think any deal could go as bad as the bulk deal, if anyone would know, it's me lol

I don't necessary like the layout but I am happy that they brought back a lot of bulk stuff, like I said the only real issue I have is now that shipping is real high, navigation is a little tough now especially with searching, but im hoping that around the fourth of july theres a good sale on bulk stuff or even maybe half off shipping would be a good deal :)

I used to love Bulknutrition/1Fast back in 04.....They were definitely the best before it all went downhill. The bulk section was amazing. The forums had some great information as well.

From the sound of it, nutra will be similar once its fully operational.

The problem with shipping is simple. Shipping a 6.5lb item (5lb protein) can cost as much as 17 dollars depending on where it is going. States within 500 miles of us, around half that.

Understand, even with the cost of shipping right now, which is not a profit center, a 5lb protein is selling for 30 bucks. Nobody is even close to that as it costs around that to manufacture a 5lb protein.

I prefer flat-rate shipping personally.. But that's just me

Be that as it may, its a 5lb tub of protein plus $13 shipping that will only go up if I order more, which I would be... so its actually a $43 5lb tub of protein.

I totally understand your point and realize you can't institute free or even flat rate shipping across the board because some people will just buy ~ $20 worth and you lose money.

Is free shipping possible for a minimum order amount for Canada?

I know two retailers (I can pm you names) who offer $10 flat shipping to Canada.

Is there anyone delivering to your door a 5lb protein for 43 bucks? As you add items to your cart the price isn't linear. Meaning 7lbs won't cost you an additional 6.5 bucks. Your average shipping cost gets reduced as more items go in.

It's not just a dollar amount, it's a weight amount as well. We are just starting to explore this and in time we will try to devise a system to suit people. There is no system that makes everyone happy. I could charge 10 bucks flat shipping and increase item prices. What you don't pay in one place you will pay in another. The goal on this side is to not lose too much money on shipping. Websites are making so little margin now, it's hard to stay profitable which is why so many have gone out of business the past 18 months. One site was doing over 30m and filed bankruptcy recently, no margin

Yes, I have two places, one will be 44 shipped other will be $39 shipped. Also a 3 letter store in town that has products marked fairly low because they expire soon too... however I added 1000g creatine to my order and was charged an additional $1.12 for shipping, so it is linear to an extent. Obviously, as the weight goes up, price too will increase.

for the second time I am not knocking NP, I am just disappointed that the flat rate went away and things are now being shipped by weight. even $8.95 for flat rate was alright but I always buy large orders from NP. My problem is because I buy in such bulk it would just end up being cheaper after shipping to purchase elsewhere, which is disappointing because NP was my #1 for so many years

IThrow, I understand your point, and it's a valid one. We're looking into various options to make shipping more affordable. Some ideas we're considering is buy $X of NP products for a discounted or flat rate shipping, free shipping over $X, etc...

As Mike pointed out, we're trying to balance offering the best deals NP is known for and making shipping affordable. Tip the scale too far one side, and the converse will go up...

I totally understand and yeah I think people thought I was pis$ed off at nutraplanet. I understand the economy being in sales as my summer job. Ive watched prices inflate every year for the past 4 years. its tough seeing repeat customers walk out the last few years after previously coming in to buy something every summer!

Im excited for what you guys bring, and giving you the benefit of the doubt because you just re did your whole site!

Once we get through the 4th sale, we will take a deep breath and start knocking things down 1 by 1. We want to expand out into more bulk items. The issue, unlike ordering a 3rd party item from a distributor, you might have to order a few thousand for a minimum run. Making the cost per additional item, 5k+ minimum. It's not like adding a new flavor of optimum protein, where you pick up 1 from your distributor. Our goal is to have your total shopping cart experience cost less than competitors. Offering more bulk selection than anyone. If we end up a little higher on shipping, we might not end up being the cheapest destination for all 3rd party items. However, we feel those shoppers who know how to live that bulk powder lifestyle, we will be a big hit with our selections.

Sometimes I feel like those who don't understand what bulk powders are/do should be taking supplements to begin with ;) but im sure you guys will come back with tons of great ideas, whether its sales, promotions, price matching etc.

Any word on what is going to be coming out on the 4th of july sale?!

A lot of stuff lol. Sam is in charge so when he's ready to unveil I'm sure he will

Looking forward to see what's up for 4th of July.

You guys got a rough ride on the new site with a lot of criticism, myself included. Customers are a fickle bunch lol. If this sale delivers, all will be forgotten lol.

Ordering protein powers was never an option for me due to shipping cost, but I at least had an opportunity to get pre-workouts and capsules. 1-2 or maybe three (if small and light) per box for 7,95 bucks delivery. Not any more :( Aren't you interested in international market at all? NP always was superb at offering deals, but current shipping rates make any deals not so "deally"..

We are always interested in selling to any customer, but not at a loss. There is a flat international option going up this week, with weight limits.
