The Arachidonic Acid Help Guide

Hey guys not sure if this has been covered, but I have some chronic minor back pain which has been a bit more uncomfortable than normal lately , Would ara make it worse

It has the ability to to possibly make it worse.

How long have you been running ArA, and have you incorporated any new exercises that could lead to increased tension on the lower back?

I havent actually taken it yet was starting to consider but this was the one thing holding me back. Probably wont know for sure till I try it tho huh?

Correct. I know some users have issues/pain and can run ArA with no issues while others with the same/similar issues cannot run ArA.

Currently dosing X Gels at 6 caps on work out days, five days a week. I have a question though. My 9-5 job usually requires a lot of heavy lifting and I normally lift about 45 minutes after I'm out of work. Should I take the 6 fasted in the morning before work or fasted pre work out? Or should I split the dose up and do 3 before work and 3 pre work out?

Looking at picking up Phosphamuscle from MT to stack with ara. Part of the formula is Tart cherry which in my research, is shown to anti inflammatory. Bad idea to stack this with Ara?

Asked in the PA thread but would like a couple more answers just to make sure

You could pick up granules for less cost and use them alongside Ara ;)

Assuming that is contains PA

Question for anyone because I'm on mobile... Does Tart Cherry have COX-2 inhibiting properties?

Currently on the granules. But the granules kill my stomach at anything over 2 tbsps so the idea is to stack the two

ah ok. Good plan. Im not all that familiar with tart cherries :(

Arachidonic acid stimulates prostate cancer cell growth: critical role of 5-lipoxygenase.
Ghosh J1, Myers CE.
Author information
Abstract
Arachidonic acid (5,8,11,14-eicosatetraenoic acid), a member of the omega-6 poly-unsaturated fatty acids, was found to be an effective stimulator of human prostate cancer cell growth in vitro at micromolar concentrations. Selective blockade of the different metabolic pathways of arachidonic acid (e.g. ibuprofen for cyclooxygenase, SKF-525A for cytochrome P-450, baicalein and BHPP for 12-lipoxygenase, AA861 and MK886 for 5-lipoxygenase, etc.) revealed that the growth stimulatory effect of arachidonic acid is inhibited by the 5-lipoxygenase specific inhibitors, AA861 and MK886, but not by others. Addition of the eicosatetraenoid products of 5-lipoxygenase (5-HETEs) showed stimulation of prostate cancer cell growth similar to that of arachidonic acid, whereas the leukotrienes were ineffective. Moreover, the 5-series of eicosatetraenoids could reverse the growth inhibitory effect of MK886. Finally, prostate cancer cells fed with arachidonic acid showed a dramatic increase in the production of 5-HETEs which is effectively blocked by MK886. These experimental observations suggest that arachidonic acid needs to be metabolized through the 5-lipoxygenase pathway to produce 5-HETE series of eicosatetraenoids for its growth stimulatory effects on human prostate cancer cells.

Inhibition of arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase triggers massive apoptosis in human prostate cancer cells.
Ghosh J1, Myers CE.
Author information
Abstract
Diets high in fat are associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer, although the molecular mechanism is still unknown. We have previously reported that arachidonic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid common in the Western diet, stimulates proliferation of prostate cancer cells through production of the 5-lipoxygenase metabolite, 5-HETE (5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid). We now show that 5-HETE is also a potent survival factor for human prostate cancer cells. These cells constitutively produce 5-HETE in serum-free medium with no added stimulus. Exogenous arachidonate markedly increases the production of 5-HETE. Inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase by MK886 completely blocks 5-HETE production and induces massive apoptosis in both hormone-responsive (LNCaP) and -nonresponsive (PC3) human prostate cancer cells. This cell death is very rapid: cells treated with MK886 showed mitochondrial permeability transition between 30 and 60 min, externalization of phosphatidylserine within 2 hr, and degradation of DNA to nucleosomal subunits beginning within 2-4 hr posttreatment. Cell death was effectively blocked by the thiol antioxidant, N-acetyl-L-cysteine, but not by androgen, a powerful survival factor for prostate cancer cells. Apoptosis was specific for 5-lipoxygenase-programmed cell death was not observed with inhibitors of 12-lipoxygenase, cyclooxygenase, or cytochrome P450 pathways of arachidonic acid metabolism. Exogenous 5-HETE protects these cells from apoptosis induced by 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors, confirming a critical role of 5-lipoxygenase activity in the survival of these cells. These findings provide a possible molecular mechanism by which dietary fat may influence the progression of prostate cancer.

Thought this was the best place to lay this down. u wouldnt want to start a cycle without one in my opinion. i ordered myself some chaparral(NDGA) for the 5-LOX inhibition ;) The major active constituent in this is nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), a polyphenolic lignan found in concentrations of 10-15% by dry weight in the leaves and twigs. NDGA has hypoglycemic, antioxidant and decreases progesterone production. its most celebrated use arises from its ability to arrest tumour growth both in vitro and in vivo.

any opinions on using it for 50days and letting it build up vs preworkout?

You mean just everyday dosing, not pre-workout? Some have done that, as I believe that was popular back when it first came out.

If you're going to dose everyday, I'd just go with dosing fasted on non-training days and pre-workout on training days.

Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to run ARA for someone that was prone to cystic acne in their teen years?

Smell/Oil concern...

Started 2 weeks ago and the pills were fine to handle and there was a slight fishy smell but after a few days, I noticed a stronger smell coming out of the bottle that just kept getting more and more pungent (rotting fish smell) as the days went by, and noticed that the pills were oily to the touch. I now have to wash my hands after touching them. Now the bottle is quite foul smelling and prone to clumping - have to dig in there to break apart my 4 pills to take pre-workout. Is this normal? I'm starting to think maybe not... Skipped them this morning because I'm worried about this. Thoughts?

that's what meant and have been doing. seems more convenient for me to just dose it every morning

Sounds like one of the caps broke open in there. The rest should be fine but they'll stink ha

I'm not sure either way, but I don't recall seeing many report acne issues with ArA. Hopefully some more people can chime in as I'm not sure.

I appreciate it bro, just not sure weather to pull the trigger because I've seen thread saying inflammatory conditions can be aggravated and I assumed cystic acne could be in that category.

it shouldn't. I get cystic every now and then but I've had no issues on current ArA runs

Yeah, just remember we're talking about localized inflammation, not systemic.

Again, wait for a smarter bro to confirm. :D

I dont think 1-2g of Ara is enough to really warrant a huge safeguarding against cancer ;)

Any idea about the question I posted above?

Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to run ARA for someone that was prone to cystic acne in their teen years?

I can only speak from my experience...

I suffered from cystic acne (primarily on my back and middle chest) post puberty. Having recently completed an 8 week run of ArA along with AlphaMax (which I suspect would have been a more likely culprit) I saw absolutely no increase in cystic acne.

Thanks for the info man, I actually haven't had any in a few years but in my late teens to about 20 I had a rough case that left scaring etc. just never want that problem again, still get pretty bad back acne from time to time :(

See a dermatologist. They can take care of it very easy with an antibiotic prescription.

I used to see one regularly and have tried everything except accutane, unfortunately nothing has completely cleared me up.

If this has already been addressed i apologize but is it okay to use for 50 days worth of supplementation or 50 calender days? Like if you take it only on workout days do the off days count toward the 50 days too or no?

Good call on decreasing fish oil and consumption of almond/peanut butter. 1 tablespoon is fine.

Glad you are already enjoying the effects, they'll become highly amplified come a week from now.

So I am no longer going to use Orange Triad multis on my ArA run, and I'm going to stop fish oil. I just read through the thread and saw that peanut butter might be best to be limited too because of the omega-3's if I recall correctly.

Should I try to limit PB during my run, or if not at least keep it like 6+ hours away from taking ArA?

This is it right here. We wanted to make a thread where users could get the absolute most out of Xgels/ Xfactor but it is by no means the only way to do things. We are confident that results will show without the additional extras but for those who like the maximise everything, it is another way to do so :D

This is what I think too but wouldn't the exogenous ArA source increase blood levels straight out and eliminate the job of the PLA2 to hydrolyse it from the stored phospholipid? I know that PGs are produced from the release of ArA from the phospholipids in the muscle cell (or some fin) so wouldn't increasing ArA circulating in the blood through supplementation skip this releasing step for pre workout?

Any thoughts on Ara powder form?
There is a bulk powders site in UK selling a powder form and stating that is 100% Arachidonic Acid Powder.
Do you believe it is 100% purity of Ara as you can find it only up to 40% in Oil form .

This was covered previously, there write up is misleading, its not 100% Pure. just 100% ARA Powder.

This. It would be closer to 5% if powder.

I had to come off ara due to joint issues during the tail end of my cut :( can't wait to jump back on once my cals and carbs are higher and have more fluid in my body lol. I'm dry as a mofo right now! Just wanted to share

Quoting again for answers.

Also going to ask if like 3-4 eggs pre-workout (1-1.5 hours before XFA) is fine to take and won't interrupt ArA's effects.

Anything contains high amounts of Omega-3s, you want to avoid or dose as far away from ArA as possible.

Eating eggs pre-workout is fine and won't have any negative impact on ArA.

So basically any kind of nuts like peanuts or walnuts?

I'll be good eating a peanut butter sandwich like like 4.5 hours away from taking XFA right?
