The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

Never seen one, but we asked a girl there, and she said it has happened lol.

I didn't care for the pb cookie dough one.

The new jurassic one looks amazing though.

Well its basically the same thing but instead of PB Cups you get PB cookies .. not much different haha.

I didn't think the PB cookie dough had much flavor. I assume the cookies will be better, at least I hope.

Salted Caramel Truffle and Smores so far are top 2 imo.

The cookies may be very hard , going to guess they are imported, and with them sitting out all day they may go stale/hard + you are mixing them into ice cream in that blizzard machine. You may get some epic chunks and some shredded pieces. May be hit or miss to be honest. S'mores IMO is the GOAT from them. Agree

Baskin Robbins is releasing a Dunkin Donuts Coffee n Donuts ice cream

The ice cream features Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and donut flavored ice creams, donut pieces, and a chocolate flavored icing ribbon. The ice cream is made using Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend Coffee and Plain Cake Munchkins Donut Hole treats.

Likely a US exclusive but I really like Lake Effect Paula's Donuts ice cream (my Top 5 of all time)

Finally broke into B&J Cinnamon buns this weekend... AMAZING. Best combo of mix ins and base I've had from them. Still like Tonight Dough as my #1 due to teh sheer amount and multiple types of mix ins, but CB is now a close #2, followed by 3a/b of Cookie/Peanut Buttah Cores

PB Half Baked and Cinnamon Buns were the best two BnJ pints I've had although the sample size isn't thst large lol.

Phish food was good, I didn't see any caramel swirl but tasted like it was mixed into the chocolate base because it was much creamier than the norm. Marshmallow swirl was awesome but could have done with an extra mix in (ie. cookie dough)

PB half baked is the other flavor I have currently and its great, but tonight dough has more mix ins and similar base so it wins out. love those pb dough balls tho

had it. the amount of mix ins was good but i just wasn't a huge fan of what some of them were. would prefer more doughs and such vs chunks of chocolate

Its not really chunks of chocolate
Peanut Butter Cups, Fudge-Covered Toffee Pieces, White Chocolatey Chunks & Fudge-Covered Almonds

only one aspect is chocolate.

or every one you listed being chocolate...
PB cups - chocolate
Fudge covered toffee - chocolate (covered)
White CHOCOLATE
fudge covered almonds- chocolate (covered)
......

still just wasn't my top choices for mix ins. like i said, it was good, but not the best for me.

Fudge is not 100% chocolate
Chocolate = Chocolate lol

Thats why ben and jerry's makes FUDGE chips and Chocolate Chips
Thats why they also make Cookie Dough as a mix in and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Again apples to oranges.

Tonight dough is also a blob of chocolate because it has Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough &
Chocolate Cookie Swirls on top of the base being mostly chocolate
So all those aspects are loads of chocolate too :)

you're seriously gonna argue that fudge is not chocolate...? Its chocolate flavored. that's the same.

Sometimes I just cannot comprehend your argumentative nature on the silliest of things.

FOR ME: Cookie doughs of all types(pb, cccd, reg, etc) > Chocolately flavored/covered whatevers

Why would ben and jerry's make Fudge Chips and Chocolate Chips then? since according to you its both the same thing.
Fudge and Chocolate have a different taste/texture by a large margin. Take a piece of a hershey bar and a piece of pure fudge the texture and taste are much different, and both are made different ways.

Same could be said with Fudge Swirls and Chocolate Swirls, well again according to you its the same thing. The taste on both are different. Blind fold someone and give them a piece of fudge and chocolate i bet they can pick out a difference.

Chocolate flavored fudge and chocolate flavored anything are all the same flavor. Texture yes, totally diff but flavor wise it's all shades of choc to me ha.

"The biggest difference between chocolate bark and chocolate fudge is the texture and taste. Fudge is usually softer, chewier and sweeter because it contains butter, added sugar, milk, corn syrup and/or sweetened condensed milk—ingredients you won't find in bark"

I looked on ice cream informant and couldn't find your review of tonight dough ... thanks bro.

I was thinking of a trip cross border to pick up tonight dough, but don't think I'll bother.

It wasn't showing up under the reader reviews on the main page where I thought it might be.

all reviews are on the forums bud.

Got em now thx:). Great review of Everything but the, glad it's available, under a diff name, in Canada because I'm going to lose my border access in a couple months and need some local options.

Here's the ice cream I spoke of the other week: early bird biscuit- handcrafted honey ice cream with buttermilk biscuit chunks. Unfortunately they've retired the flavor forever and my wife bought the last quart on the planet :)

The biscuit mix in chunks are plentiful and almost the size of a golf ball

I was trying to check out the Gelato Fiasco website yesterday and discovered there is a similar business in Calgary, AB called Fiasco Gelato lol.

Prices are high (online ordering within Canada), but flavours look alright. A secondary search on macro profiles was hit & miss, but looks like a couple are around 170cals/serving so likely less mix-ins than the US GF. In any event good to see a CDN artisan shop and I may be moving near there so need some options...

So fo rthos interested in low cal "ice creams" my gf tried all of the Halo Top flavors... apparently theyre nice and creamy, much different than arctic zero (even the new creamier ones), and flavors are quite good. She said the lemon pound cake was amazing.

Cost for that low kcal stuff may be the turnoff for some. can be expensive to invest in a bunch (especially dieting).
Heard good things about Halo too, but still a sucker for the good stuff :)

Halo really isn't any more expensive than b&j or similar. It's like $4 here.

The ingredients are solid too. Has actual dairy ha

yeah put 4$ a pint multiple times a week, that would add up!
Depending on how many you crush a week haha

No different than other ice cream a few times a week. Hell, it's less than half the price of jeni's once a week!

Halo is 4 servings at 70g each no?So really half a pint or did I misread the label.

Edit: nvm was thinking g~mL brain cramp

Chocolate Shoppe Ultimate Oreo:

The mix-ins resemble real oreo cookies and are very soft inside the ice cream. The crunchy texture provided inside the scrumptious oreo base is truly remarkable. The base is dense, luscious in flavor and is hard to put down. The deeper you dig into the pint the larger the mix-ins get in amount and size. If you are an oreo fan this is a must buy. Cookies and Cream was taken to another level and Chocolate Shoppe raised the bar over Graeters.

Grade: A

Better than Graeter's?!?!
I never thought that I would see that, dem fighting words.

Chocolate Shoppe is the company with awesome Blue Moon. I live right near the Wisconsin border.

Blue Moon ice cream and Spotted Cow beer just 5 mins away for me.

Jeni's Found with Listeria AGAIN

Invalid Link Removed

We have found Listeria in our production facility again.

We discovered the Listeria through routine swabbing as part of our monitoring program.

We stopped production earlier this week and have been investigating where and how it may have re-entered the facility. We have a theory and are testing that theory. We don’t yet have a timeline for the resumption of production.

Since resuming production in our kitchen on May 13, 2015, we have been testing every batch of ice cream we have made and holding it until we learned that the testing did not detect any Listeria. So it is with complete confidence that I can say all of the ice cream that has been served in our shops since reopening on May 22 has been safe and is 100% Listeria-free.

We are closing our scoop shops temporarily because we don’t have enough ice cream to keep them stocked. After we eradicate the Listeria and have thoroughly tested the facility, we will restart making ice cream. Sometime thereafter we’ll announce a date when our shops will reopen.

Hahaha... $10 a pint. Half listeria. What a joke

The market I usually go to stocks Jeni's right next to Dolcezza... both at $10 a per pint. I forsee ice cream costs becoming devastating in the future. Good thing Graeter's is only $6
