early morning HIIT, is this meal enough, correct.

I like doing my cardio in the AM... I like to hiit (prowler work, row machine sprints, etc..). I want to know if 25 grams of whey and some MCT 30 minutes prior to the workout is enough to keep me from breaking down muscle...
 
Good question! I'd like to know as well because I don't eat before training in the am.
 
If you can eat real protein like 60 min pre it would be better. But in a rush j can see this being okay. At least the MCT slows down the protein digestion from converting to glucose in the liver.
 
I think that's an adequate amount of calories to prevent muscle breakdown. I would definitely take some pictures and monitor your progress though. If you're cutting and eating at a deficit, you may notice some muscle loss. What's your diet like other than this meal? And how many days per week do you plan to do this HIIT?
 
With 25g whey, it should be more than enough leucine to ramp up MPS to the point where muscle loss should not be a concern whatsoever. If you're seriously that concerned drink a G2 during your HIIT session with another 3-5g of leucine on it.

Great point, adding BCAA or leucine during your training would be a great idea too.
 
If you had dinner the night before, wouldn't the food still be used by your body? and for training early the next morning.

Hiit is usually quite short (unless your superfit :) ) so you should be fine and your muscle won't be breaking down. unless youre doing something like a marathon.
 
Muscle breakdown is not a big concern with HIIT cardio in general. As long as you are eating enough throughout the day, there shouldn't be any issues. I've even seen some studies that show HIIT having a net anabolic effect on muscle protein. If you're really concerned or trying to gain muscle add some simple carbs in with your whey and coconut oil. ~25g carbs from some fruit would be perfect
