Turff49 Quest for Success

How do you fail a single then nail a double? That's pretty impressive there. Surely your 1M skull crushers contributed to the lessened volume.

It's like in the Rocky movie: "he's not gettin killed, he's gettin mad"! Strong, freakin lifts brother!

Thanks everyone! All you guys inspire me to give it my all every workout. Feel like I'd be letting someone down if I didn't. I appreciate all the positive feedback as there are times I'd just like to say f*ck it and not do anything. But the motivation here is the best therapy ever for such nonsense thoughts!

Well said, I think we all feel this way.

And here I am finding myself working this weekend. I gotta quit thinking about money...lol

Did get my leg workout in this morning!

Hack squat
150 x 10
240 x 10
330 x 10
420 x 10
510 x 10
600 x 5 went to deep(hips rolled) on the 6th and failed, dang it! I feel 690 coming...

Leg press
270 x 10
450 x 10
540 x 10
630 x 10
720 x 10
810 x 7 felt very light headed from rep 4 on. Time to bump weight up in another week or 2.

Leg extensions
120 x 10
135 x 10
165 x 10
195 x 10
225 x 10

Seated leg curls
120 x 10
135 x 10
150 x 10
165 x 10
180 x 10

I was spent...
Everyone have a Great Memorial weekend!

Chest day!
Not a bad morning, got in some good volume.

DB incline press
60 x 20
80 x 15
90 x 10
100 x 10
100 x 8

HS incline press
110 x 10
150 x 10
200 x 10
230 x 5
230 x 5

Incline DB flyes
40 x 10
50 x 10
55 x 10
60 x 10

HS chest press
100 x 10
150 x 10
190 x 10
240 x 10
270 x 10

The chest press was way out of place for my workout as there was a kid sitting in it with his phone. He was sitting in it when I got there. When I had finished all my incline presses I asked him if he was done. He said no, still had a few more sets. Alpha in me came out. I said f*ck you been sitting there 20 minutes and hadn't done one set. He asked me what I was going to do... I just looked at him and shuck my head. I really thought about snatching his little *ss up. First time I've let a little punk get under my skin.

Lat pull downs for a good stretch
120 x 10
150 x 10
165 x 10
195 x 10

And that was it. Overall a good session!

was he of age? I think I would have wrapped my hands around his neck and choke the little fuker out. good for you keeping your cool man, I'd have had a hard time with that one.

you shoulda been like 'as the owner of this gym im about to rescend your contract".

Yeah, he was probably mid 20's. I normally don't let stuff get to me. But he didn't even look up when he said he had a few more sets, he just kept typing on his phone. Most guys would be like, oh sorry man. Or yeah you can work in. He acted like this was his recliner at home... Enough rant. It made my flyes go easy! The 60's felt like the 40's lol.

Sorry guys, been absent all day. I got a call this morning that my mom fell and broke both her femurs. She's been in surgery all day. Appreciate any prayers sent her way.

Prayers on the way.

Awww, I'm so sorry. Prayers!! ?

Thanks guys.
Apparently surgery lasted about 4 hours. She had lost a lot of blood.
My mom is 82 with Alzheimer's. Lives with my cousin who takes care of her. She broke both legs simply by twisting. Basically she has very brittle bones.
They say they will have her up and walking tomorrow, not sure how that is possible. Once she is released she has to go to a nursing home for rehab.
My mom hasn't known me for a few years. The really sad thing after you take out the obvious is once she goes to the nursing home she won't have her cat. Her cat has been the one constant throughout the whole Alzheimer's ordeal.
Alzheimer's is a disease that just scares the living day lights out of me.
Thanks for the shoulder to lean on guys...

Was gonna comment on the doofus at the gym, but I'm just going to say a prayer for your mom instead. Hope she's back to her cat soon, too.

My MIL uses a soft, stuffed toy dog for comfort. Sounds strange but maybe try that for your Mom. Prayers.

Thanks for the prayers guys, it means a lot.
Mark, my wife was thinking along the same lines. She found a stuffed cat that acts as if it's breathing and purrs.

Great work and sorry to hear about your Mother's situation. I lost my Grandfather to Alz, and considered myself lucky to have only seen him on his good days. Keep your head up B!

You're doing them wrong then...lol
You do them like a t-bar row with one end of bar on the floor as a pivot point. I go look for a vid for you. Hold on...lol

Here are a couple variations. One with bar to your side and one with bar between your legs.

Strong back work Brian.

I bend over slightly. Stand parallel with the bar in smith machine and do them. Just like a db row almost.

Are you dead lifting one-armed too?

Sorry to hear about your mom. I prayed for you both.
