When I start it's usually very simple and bro diet esque. Lower fat meats chicken, beef, turkey, egg whites, oats, whole wheat bread and pasta, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, and tons of veggies.

If I go keto towards the end of a diet it's much higher fat and almost zero carbs so fattier pork and beef, whole eggs, cheeses, pork rinds, natty pb, oils, etc.

The majority consensus on AM os that there isn't food choices that are inherently bad or fattening. So the idea that twinkies and bacon and ice cream and so forth shpuld be avoided when cutting is a thing of the past

This echos what I said above and is definitely fact. Personally I just eat "clean" as more of a mental thing. I know sauce^ follows somewhat of an iifym style and he's lean as all hell so there's your proof.

There are really only two keys to cutting: calories are below maintenance and eat in a way that you can stick with. If you follows those two rules you're good to go and will have a successful cut.

Even though it's all about eating below maintenance & meet your macros it doesn't necessarily mean you can just go crazy eating whatever. In order to make your macros you'll have to eat the "traditionally clean" foods MOST of the time. THen there is the fiber factor...which I believe fiber should be the 4th macro...you should take in 25-30g of fiber each day.
 
Yeah its adequate lol I just like lower calorie wraps and ish. So for example if I'm making quesadilla and I have 4 60 calorie tortillas and each has 8g fiber there's 32g. Not counting what I put in them

AHHH...so you just eat more than required...sorry I'm slow tonight! :-p

I am in the middle of a cut for a contest in October so I am trying to pick up any tips I can get...I usually use a trainer but my trainer funds are slim pickins this time around. I've done enough shows that I should be able to handle it...so far I'm doing very well...this thread is perfect timing!
 
Just slow and steady wins the race. Dont panic and the last comes off the slowest. Although I got a blood test today and might have hypothyroid which if that's the case and I get prescribed meds then the end of my cut would be a breeze and would explain why I added more fat than usual this bulk and why my energy is dog**** and my endurance in the gym too recently. But still losing about .5lb a week. But more calories to lose that would be nice lol

Damn hypothyroid and you're still shredded? We should all be so lucky ha.

And thanks man I'm loving the keto so far. This might just be my new secret finishing move...
 
I mean I'm still Len but can't lose that stubborn fat over the lower abs like I have in the past. That and I've noticed I needed more cardio this cut and I got fatter easier last bulk. It all makes sense unfortunately. Or fortunately since it'll mean more food come bulk seasonnnn

If they do put you on something you'll be shredded in like 10min. My gf's mom is on synthroid and she can eat like an entire buffet at 105lb and never gain anything. It's unreal.
 
Yeah I mean that's an awesome side effect I'll be honest. Maintaining weight at 2,500 cals becoming like 2,800-3,000 would be cool I love food. But I'm more wanting to fix the sides of hypo in the sense that I just haven't felt right for months. Happy the test showed it all and got another one tomorrow or Wednesday to confirm.

But the whole low sex drive, intolerance to cold (I wore a sweatshirt to the gym when it was 92 degrees out because I hate being cold in the gym...) Irratibility, muscle cramps and other sides ain't fun anymore lol. Taking a toll on my life. Just happy there's a lightbat the end of the tunnel. And waiting for me is more food lol. Just in time possibly for this Hawaiian buffets too!!

I know the feelings you've got going on right about now as well... I can tell that 7months of cutting has def hurt my metaolism/thyroid as well. I wear a long sleeve and sweatshirt to the gym and it takes waaayyyy longer to break a sweat then it used to (I used to always be hot) and I can totally vouch for the mood/sex drive/etc. Sucks. I'm hoping time off stims, cutting, and generally just getting back to some less aggressive work will help after my vacation.

Can be miserable for the first couple days but make sure you truly are getting all of the fat you should and it helps a ton. I've had AMAZING results the last month. Dropped from roughy 12- sub 10 in 4 weeks. Just don't do what most think "keto" is and only drop all your carbs and not add more fats to make up the cals. You'll feel like complete garbage if you do that.
 
I wont make that mistake then thanks im grumpy as it is in life i think on keto ill just lock my self in a room with wieghts and food lol so i dont snap at anyone
