What's the difference in support between the blue and black. I've used the red one several times, but not the others. I understand that the black is similar to a multiply shirt, but how much does the blue help?
Blue is the lightest, the Reactive; Red is the Original I believe, and Black is extremely strong. The guys I was benching with said 1.5 ply. The Blue gives me about 20lbs off the bottom, Red about 50, and I'd agree with Herder about 80lbs from the black.

I was using a Large when I heard it tear trying to touch, I paused 2" off and pressed from there very easily.

What kind of bench style would you say you use in terms of arch, foot positioning, etc.?

My competition bench is a decent arch, tucked elbow, medium grip, with the ball of my feet planted underneath me.

Cool. I wasn't sure if you used a flat foot or elevated foot.
Elevated is the only way I've been able to utilize leg drive.

I feel pretty comfortable wide foot but can't keep my ass on the bench that way at max loads :(

Guy I lift/bench with now (470 raw bencher @242 and in his 40s) does the wide stance/flat foot and his calves are also the size of my quads. Not really but they are big. He said he wants to train my bench once I get this shoulder rehabbed so I guess I'll see about learning it. As of now I'm the same with an elevated foot.

I started wide/flat foot then switched to elevated. I definitely have an easier time not lifting my butt elevated, but each way has taught me something.

Isn't it more or less federation dependent? some say flat, some don't care -

I think IPF/USAPL is the only fed that requires a flat foot.

Ya, pretty sure they're the only one. Also no head lifting off the bench as well.

They have too many damn rules.

Lol true that.

My main issue competing with them was the varying level of enforcement of those rules and the elitist attitudes of judges/competitors.

The latter part can't be said enough. They somehow view themselves as the authority of PL'ing and every other federation out there is beneath them.

RPS all the way. Wear what you want, do it how you want, and the judging is good at the Columbus meets.

You guys have any full meets for RPS this winter in mind?

Edit: ****, realized in NomZ thread. I'd love to lift with you ma man but I can't see driving to Cali lol I was referring to the closet to PA guys

XXX is a blast! But Columbus would be quite the hike for you, I'm sure. One of these days I'm going to do a meet in York, but first I need to qualify for the Arnold.

Been debating skipping RE deadlifts and doing ME block pulls instead today even though it's not what I need...then I tried to do a BW squat and my hammies lit up bc they're still sore from Monday. Guess RE sounds better...

Don't know what to tell you, man. Both sides of the coin have their pro's. You know what you need, but if today's not the day for reps, then it's not. There's always next week. Generally speaking, when I feel the itch to pull heavy, I scratch it.

Hmm maybe Rob.

I'll just see how I feel when I get there, and if someone has baby powder.

False gripping? Hmm, most people palm it but still wrap the thumb around it.

Basically, the way I've been told is to set it high in the palm, wrap the thumb from there, and squeeze. That way when it slides down your hand (and it will) it will bunch up some skin under it and help you hold on longer. Which, unfortunately, is how so many people tear their hands up doing them.

Ya, the false grip worked better for me.

I have very smally hands for my height, most girls have the same size hands as me... I just don't see how I can palm it and have my thumb on the other side, my thumb basically ends up on top of the handle.

I was basically setting it in the meat of my palm with some wrist flexion, the bunching up similar to how you said happened naturally.

2" handles are pretty standard too right?

Yikes. All kinds of brutal stuff going on. 4" deficit, I could totally reach that bar! Maybe. Good to see you got your reps in. Did you go all Travis Bagent for your armwrestling matches?

That actually sounds about right, your thumb will be on top at first but after you start walking a little your wrist will turn and the thumb will end up wrapped around the side/bottom.

My hands are small too, which sucks for strongman but all we can do is make the hands stronger. Also, 2" sounds about right.

4" was awful, my leg drive on conventionals is downright awful and both of these really showed how weak I am.

I had to look up this Bagent guy, na rly. I'm a pretty calm-mannered man in general. He seems like a strong-ass douchebag, lol. He do crossfit too?

Ok, I'll try that next time, the false grip just felt night and day in terms of how much stronger it felt. You can see the difference in my sets, the last two were false grip and did better each set, despite the fatigue building up.

Indeed, just gotta be stronger.

Word on the street is SPF are depth nazis, lol
If you mean they hate squats to depth and want them wiped from existence, then yes.

Hahaha. No way he does Crossfit. Crossfitters train legs. Also, I don't think Crossfit is coming to West Virginia until about 2017.

I see him in a lot of Xfit vids, and consider yourself lucky then...Xfit regionals were held at my university gym this year, I didn't go to that gym once that weekend.

Holy shït he does do Crossfit! Wtf! As if there weren't enough people in the sport to sully it. I hear he's got a public side and a private side, and he figured WWF style arm wrestling could pay the bills.

Ran out of time for this workout, so pretty short. Wanted more reps with 415, but pretty sure that's a volume PR at that weight anyways, so not complaining.

All over that volume with 415. That'll do, pig.

Nice work, really making 415 your bitch there. I love to humiliate the weight like that. Volume PRs are fun sometimes.

I finally had to stop benching on ****ty benches all together. Those sound just like the ones at the 24 hr I train at sometimes. So frustrating trying to work on any kind of technique, Brb leg drive slightly and you are sliding backwards.

This was a 24hr. There is one good bench, a bro was doing half reps and I asked how many sets he has. "Just starting bro, there's a bench right there" points to a bench so narrow it can't fit half my back on it. No thanks.

Managed to steal the good one for my last two sets.

I take one of my older efs bands and wrap it length wise around the bench. It stops all sliding.
If you can do it with two bands that's even better.

Yeah man, that's the 24hr fitness blues. I went to mine today and found a dude, old enough to have a mustache, looked at least 170 lbs, half squatting 95lbs, struggling. I set up a little box jump thing and just watched him superset these pathetic attempts at squats with cable triceps extensions. I was putting on my knee sleeves right by the rack when he loads 135, half squats it, and I loudly say "all the way down" and boom turns out that was his last set lol. 135 already on there to warm up. I hate 24 hr fitness, but its way closer than EPC, so I squat there.
