As it has been said before. She has some level of trust and/or respect for you since she has worked with you for 10 months. I don't think you mentioned it before, but did she start out this way from the beginning, or did it start to come out as time went on? Most likely as she became comfortable around you. Either way, I would have to tell her to grow up if it was me. You've obviously proven yourself as a gentleman and a good trainer if you haven't had any sketchy situations. Obviously you nor anyone else has to prove your worth as a human, you just have to prove to people you're not an ******* sometimes. I know when I deal with the public, someone's first impression on me is bad, but I try to get them off of whatever has made them mad at my company, and get them talking about something else, usually themselves, while I work.
Its definitely a tricky situation and since none of us know your work atmosphere we can only help so far. She said she knows its wrong but she don't want to change so I would straight tell her how disrespectful she is to you. That's called immaturity and she needs to be called on it. If you work at a fitness center and there are other trainers, I would have a sit down with the boss and fill them in. And tell them if she quits on you why it is so you can be in front of any fall out she try to create. If she keeps on making ignorant statements that are offensive to you I would tell her so. You aren't "the help". You are a professional that she chose to hire and apparently keep as a coach. If she doesn't have a problem with you you should just point out she's not really a racist and she shouldn't keep acting like she is. And if you feel compelled to terminate your service, no one will blame you. You nor anyone else shod be forced to work in a hostile environment. Whether its with people calling you slurs or curse words. Or just using profanity in general is offensive to me and isn't necessary and I refuse to work with or for someone that chooses to curse at me.
