5x5 is a good method too, but I prefer drop sets bc it's a faster paced workout and I can go balls to the walk if I know I'm doing only one set.

Personally though, I think a football player would benefit more from adding explosive lifts like snatches, clean/press, clean/jerk, thrusters, power cleans, potentially jump squats (be careful) as well as metabolic conditioning stuff like weighted vest training with weighted carries, prowler training, etc. that's what I felt helped me the most when I played football.

Wow those are some nice belts but they are so expansive!!! I never used a belt b4 and I was squatting 550 dead lifting 500 without a belt do we really need a belt is it a necessity???

I organized them push/pull mostly. It's hard bc they're very compound, but that's provably the easiest way. I did two push and two pull workouts a week and two conditioning days.
 
I know this is a bit newer but Mike Foley aka Mankind was a throwback and one of the best wrestlers in the mid 90's-early 2000's
 
Hulk, warrior, rowdy rowdy piper, junk yard dog, the killer bees, Davie boy smith, mr wonderful Paul orndorf, etc! This list could go on! That's when it was good sh!t
 
I've watched some of the old WWF matches on youtube and they were horrible actors! The guys today are better at selling the violence but I think why I like the old stuff better is because I used towatch it with my grandpa as a kid. I really miss that man!

You can tell the old guys because their foreheads are all scard up from razor cuts. Like Dusty Roads and the Freebirds.

Nice set! Glad you're liking this training style! It's good if just for a change of pace, but if it works well for gains stick with it!

I have a strong feeling solid gains will be made from this training style it takes the high rep scheme that I like and mixes a fast pace with heavy weight. Plus its something that I will be able to manipulate from week to week to make sure I dont get bored.
