The standard model of essential fatty acids is rapidly changing, due to emerging scientific evidence from the University of Cambridge.

"Two types of omega-3 fatty acid found in oily fish – EPA and DHA – and the omega-6 fat arachidonic acid were linked to a lower risk of heart disease."

"Two types of omega-3 fatty acid found in oily fish – EPA and DHA – and the omega-6 fat arachidonic acid were linked to a lower risk of heart disease. But omega-3 and omega-6 supplements appeared to have no benefit."

Ouch. I really do wonder why this is the case, especially with regard to fish oil in phospholipid or triglyceride form. It could be related to the fact that EPA/DHA/ARA are provided as free acids or esters in supplements.

Also interesting is:

"a dairy fat called margaric acid ‘significantly reduced’ risk"

Good post, good study too

Great discussion in here!

Wow, very surprised in regards to ArA since in the mainstream it's been seen as a negative health factor.

Insulin is inflammatory. The trick is overall diet high in nutrients not a single nutrient...

ArA ingested in a ****ty diet doesn't make ArA "good for you" or anything for that matter...
