Article: Understanding Metabolic Damage

This would take long bouts of training on a huge deficit to occur . Metabolic damage just doesn't happen if you're eating enough and resting.

Yeah I think you would have to be on a crazy weight loss diet. You would think it would happen a lot to boxers or mma fighters trying to cut down?

I wrestle and I've gone from 133 to 125 in less than half a day. I used to have to eat absolutely nothing for at least a day not even water to make weight. Then I'd gain ten pounds within 24 hours. Now that it's over I weigh 142.

Have you ever got a boner during a match?

This is exactly what happened to me. I was in a crazy defecit whilst training six days a week. It took me a solid four months off to recover. It was awful!

I am 25. From the age of 16-18 I went from 190lbs to 90lbs.. A div 2 recruited high school football player to an ICU bed . I did 3-4 hour sessions of weights and cardio either fasted or on literally a can of tuna. I was anorexic. I am now eating normal, went on and off TRT, and weigh 170. Body composition is SH*T bc I have so much metabolic damage. I eat clean and train hard, and supplement pretty heavily- doing all the "right things". Body comp doesn't budge unless I'm on EC... And even that can't get me to single digit BF.... I think I am at the eat less/ workout less phase.... But I can't not work out lol. I take a few weeks off a year (2 or 3)... And in those weeks of NO gym going, I get leaner, fuller, and harder. And all my aches and pains go away. Food for thought...

Interesting article as I'm going on a low carb diet

Be sure to keep your healthy fat intake high. Don't be afraid to add a tablespoon of olive or flax oil to your protein shake, and eat things like nuts and avocados. Personally I wouldn't be afraid of animal fat either as long as it was clean (there's some evidence that the grass-fed animal fats are better for you on several levels).

This was a great articular. I learned a lot. I personaly feel that there is no overtraining if you're not under eating. Eat toward you goals, you know. Ive also heard that sipping amino acids through your workout can help you stay out of a catabolic state and help preserve muscle tissue through long intense training or competitions. HICA was suppose to do that too. Anyone know anything about HICA?

Save your cash. Go with Leucine

Low carb disciple here for 20+ years

I cheat here and there and learned what I can get away with over the years but all in all I attribute any successes aesthetically speaking to being a low carber.

Low carb killed me. Put me down for a week, never again

If you eat too many carbohydrates, too often throughout the day (which nearly everybody does), and you always have sugars available for energy, then your body has adapted to always having sugars for energy and is only efficient at working in the glycolitic energy system. However, as you begin to remove carbohydrates from your diet, especially the simple sugars, and they are less readily available, your body will begin to become more proficient at using fats, and proteins to a small degree, for energy. But while that 'transition' is happening, you will surely see and feel a drop in energy levels, sometimes a dramatic drop. Give it time. Plus, from purely a health standpoint, your body will be better off eating foods from nutritious sources like lean proteins, vegetables, nuts&seeds and fruits, rather than rices, cereals, breads, pastas, table sugars and so on...
Just my two cents :)

You don't want to know. Went down to about 1000 to 1200 when my maintenance is around 2300.

Holy ****. No worries man asking as you learn. I used to eat 1700 calories because I was scared to gain fat since I used to be over weight. Glad that time is gone lol

My issue is the same, I eat more than 1700 but I try to compensate for fear of getting fat by doing lots of HIIT cardio and lifting for a long time, knowing tha rest and recovery is key and over training will only hinder results.

Honestly it's all mental. I dropped that and learned a few thugs on diet and now I'm keeping everything a okay, I've never been better.

Ain't this the truth. The only time I was single digit bf I was keeping a food log and weighing/measuring everything.... It became obsessive though and led to a whole other plethora of issues, so as part of my treatment, I stopped doing it and refused to start again.

Lol I always weigh my good and count calories. Sure sometimes I'm obsessive and addicted to changed in my body comp but then again aren't we all?
