Keep bulking?

In the last 3 months I have put on 35 pounds. That is almost 3 pounds each week. Should I continue with the rate I am bulking?

I don't really have a goal weight. I just want to look and be big. If I need to I can find some pictures of sizes that I am after. Based on this picture:

I am between 15-20% I would say something like 16 or 17. I always have the full/bloated feeling because of the amount of food I eat and drink but other then that I feel pretty good about myself. I have always been small my life < 150 pounds so reaching this weight in a short time was a little bit of a shock. However the good thing is it isn't all in my stomach area. My legs, arms, chest, face, whole body has got big evenly. I mean I wouldn't mind bulking more if it is good or if I should just try to lean out some now to get rid of fat I have now or what. All I know about bulking is just eat a lot. Havent ever cut or got this far into a bulk.

Maybe try to clean up the diet a bit while still eating in a surplus then start cutting and get to a low body fat 6-10% then go back on the bulking track.

I haven't counted calories at all while I have been here. And the food I eat here is a hit or miss on the amount I get. Also, I am not sure if the healthy food is even healthy with all the oil/pam that is in the food.

Is oil/pam bad? To me it feels like it is just grease.

First meal is always random. Usually consists of some sort of meat with potato wedges or rice or random. Then I like to wash it down with some cranberry juice.

Second meal:
5-10 pieces of bacon
2 biscuits with gravy
2 bowls of frost flakes
450mL milk

Third meal:
5 eggs over easy
5-10 peices of bacon
3 oval hashbrowns or 1 cup tator tots
450mL whole milk

I have not been taking protein or weight gainer this whole time. I do have some ON Pro Complex weight gainer that I think I will start taking since my calories required have went up.

Well the majority of the time I wipe the bacon down with napkins so its not so greasy. And also, I work night shift so I get up at 6PM work till 6AM, go to gym, eat, then get in bed at 9. I usually eat 1 hour before bed and just about everyday I wake up and my stomach just feels like crap and sometimes hurt. I looked online and it said that it is sometimes caused by eating greasy food right before bed. Which I think it is the pam.

Pam has 0.8 grams of fat per spray. 7 total calories.

Bacon has roughly 6-8g of fat for every two peices you eat.

I love bacon just as much as the next person but I wouldn't worry about your cooking spray if you're eating 60-80g of fat from bacon alone.

It is all about how much you use. If you spritz pam on a pan and use it to cook chicken you are using it correctly and will reduce your fat intake. If you are using it like a spray paint can and coating food with it is counter productive. Same thing with Oil. Personally I just use a coated pan/ grill.
If you are trying to build a cut physique I would re-evaluate your eating habits, if you are just trying to be "big" and want to continue bulking keep at it if it is working , plus I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the dirty bulk.

Ha thanks for the replies guys. Just dont want to be eating something at a quanitiy that would hinder me in short or long term. I think I will just keep bulking hard for another 2 months. Possibly hit 200+ and then do a nice cut. Would be nice if I had some pictures at 145..

Good luck bro, and know the only thing that will hinder you short term is loosing your motivation. keep at it.

It would probably be in your best interest to slow down on the weight gain while you are still at or close to the teens for BF. I would probably try to convert to a lean bulk. I did something similar to this, but over a much longer period of time. I went from 165 to 250 at one point, but it was over the course of 3 years. I topped out at about 22% BF at 250, and then I began to do a very slow cut. I find things are best done slowly to preserve what you have worked so hard to gain. I would personally not take a weight gainer, as I preferred to make my own. I would take some Protean and add some whole milk and peanut butter along with some fruits. I just felt like it was better at the time, but to each his own.

3 pounds a week, 2 of which was likely fat. That is what I call a dirty bulk. It's fine if your long term goals don't have much to do with good body composition. Good luck reaching your goals m8 :)

edited. Nice work. I'd still recommend cutting down to at least 12-13% so that you don't encourage the formation of new adipose tissue cells. Once they form they don't go away, they only shrink.

These were taken about 1.5 weeks ago.

I'd peg that at 16-17%. You can get down to 12% in a month if you do it right. HIIT cardio cycling ftw Invalid Link Removed

Sweet. The link you sent me, you want me to listen to that radio thing?

Also, I think I am going to do 1 more month of bulking but CLEAN.

Yeah it's a good listen if you have an hour to learn about cardio science ^

Ok great, I will listen to it tomorrow at work. If I cut down to 12% how much you think I will end up weighing if I am 180 right now?

It depends on how well you dial things in. I'd look at Lyle Mcdonalds UD2 as a good option. I've dropped down about 4% bf and gained 1 pound on it over the last 5 1/2 weeks. It's incredibly difficult, so it just depends on how motivated you are and how much time you have to put into perfecting it. You can check my training log to see how much my strength and stamina have increased while dropping the fat%

It is just hard for me to do a set diet as the food here is different everyday. So I wouldn't be able to select the food I need each day. Instead I will just eat the healthy stuff they have each day which will be 10x better then what I am doing now.

Do you have a smart phone? If so I'd recommend a calorie counting app. I'd be dead in the water without mine, as far as hitting my target macros each day, let alone trying to work them out in conjunction with nutrient timing. I like the app fatsecret.

im in this same debate with myself right now. To bulk, or not to bulk. Im probably the same bf% as you...I decided to keep my lifting the same while cleaning up my diet and adding in 20min cardio everyday. I'm just so worried about losing the size I worked to hard to obtain. Nothing in that post to really help you out, just letting you know i understand the struggle :)

Mikeyjd- How does your cycling routine work? just one min pedaling all out, one relaxed, repeat? How long?

For a warmup I just do 2 minutes of low intensity cardio to warm up the joints then blast the intensity to max for 30 seconds (I turn the difficulty all the way up and go till failure) then I follow it with an abdominal tri set (this allows me to hit abs while I have energy and to feel them contracted throughout my workout). I find that if I don't hit abs first thing I tend to forgo them as I'm to tired from all the compound lifts. If I'm doing HIIT away from my resistance training, I'll do 6-8 sets of 20-30 seconds all out sprints (till failure) with about 2 minutes rest in between. Cycling has proven to be the most muscle sparing form of HIIT and I've actually noticed better leg recovery when I do it.
