Article: Squats Give More Hormone Response Than Leg Press

Gotta love squatting heavy and deep.

Been telling my fellow pump heads at my health club that they ought to squat heavy or go home.
 
Lulz leg pres is lame. Everyone does half reps anyway because they like to ego lift. Squat or leave. I hate going big on leg press.
 
My legs are beast and I won't go near a girly leg press bro.

Dude leg press is just another tool to impressive legs. Its like bench and incline, you wouldnt just do them two exercises for the rest of your life now would you. Every exercise is a tool for you to grow. Use them all.

Big numbers on both are great! If Bb Squats are the only thing in your closet then your simply missing out, bottom line

Quit hating on the leg press. Its a great exercise, just like squats. They both have their place in building some impressive legs.
 
I dont have a problem. Lets finish this already. The article is true; squats do make your body release more hormones than leg press, but leg press is still a good exercise.

What's the point in heavy squats? More hormone? Maybe...so what! Oh you'll get huge doing it?! Nope! You'll get strong? Yep sure, but tell me why you need the strength the squat 200kg....no real world benefit unless you're a pro athlete. Is that everyone? No! The majority of us are lifting to look good, be honest. What looks good? Huge legs! How do you get huge legs?? Huge VOLUME and FREQUENCY! If you're frying your CNS every 7 days you can train this way.

I'll give you a little advice from an aspiring pro. A variety of workouts builds a more aesthetic and complete body.

18 sets of squats on a hamstring day is not a very good idea for a true body building workout.

5 sets of squats
5 sets of 1 legged presses
4 sets hamstring curls
4 sets kick backs for that nice booty shape.
4 sets abductor/inductor
4 sets light lunges at a high intensity
Then its time for calves!

My abs are ripped there but yes also very depleted. It was end of a week of my carb depletion before starting carb up time.

Are you a ****ing retard? Last I checked Extensions weren't a hamstring movement. They're a quad movement.

I wish my gym had in of those vertical presses.. I've seen them but never got to use one.

You can do them carefully on the smith machine

Put a sterching pad on the ground for your tail bone

Have a fellow pump head release the bar for you. And hammer away

Put the safety pin up. Just in case your feet slide off bar.

And u got a vertical leg press.

No you havent. You been trying to say that leg press is a girly exercise. Dude its just like chest exercises; your not only going to do bench press for chest; your going to utilize flys, pullovers, and machines.

The squat has a greater systemic strain, even psychologically for most people than the leg press. It isn't as comfortable having your spine loaded, plus the thought or subconcious thought that if you "do it wrong" you could get seriously hurt, is what elicits the hormone response seen in the study.

But on the other hand; leg presses are only a "girly exercise" for those who make it that way...that's what happens when you do it wrong just like any other exercise you don't try hard enough on.
