activating the pecs is going to be similar from person to person as dictated from article #1, feeling it in your shuolders more than your chest = a lack of pec activation and not utilizing the bench in the proper manner PL's tuck their elbows more than BB's tuck their elbows. While PL's focus on weight, BB's focus more on appearance. There is a drastic difference in how BOTH approach lifting (one more power based, one more focus on their overall appearance). Regardless if you are not activating your pecs and feeling it more in your "Shoulders" that is because your not performing the bench correctly, and your using more of your other overlapping muscles compared to what you should be engaging because bench carries over onto your delts and triceps (more on your delts for incline) due to it being medial delt driven.

I can agree with that. I definitely feel my bench more in my chest than my shoulders, even though I tuck my elbows. I think this has more to do with my learning how to really get my upper back tight and shoulder blades retracted properly.

Selection day woo! Still going strong with both my diet and exercise. Even a late night last night and only 3.5hrs of sleep didn't stop me from my training, cooking, and even a few minutes of snow shoveling ha. I'm also proud to say that I've gotten the gf serioudly interested in her diet and how she can change/adapt things to not only meet her needs but her cravings without totally blowing it.

Just listened to this one... Really informative. I always forget to listen to Layne's stuff. So per his suggestions, he has one limiting cardio to 4-10 x 10sec all out sprints/windgate/etc. Have you (or anyone) tried this exact layout out before? Usually I see more of the traditional 30/30 or 60/30 splits for HIIT. Would love to be able to make my cardio sessions that much shorter. it would also tremendously benefit my hockey hobby.

I'll be reading the aragon articles at lunch too so thanks.

Meh 45min MIIT fasted cardio got me to 4-5%....no need to mess with a good thing

That's pretty much the reason I've never changed... 20min of fasted morning/evening cardio has always worked for me. But I do love to try new things and if given the option to see the same results in less time (inside and potentially outside the gym/physique wise too)... I'm all for it.

Fasted cardio sure its easy to do, but is it optimal? Thats the thing, could you come in holding more strength without using (as science shows)
just something you have to use and see the difference and give it a shot. It would not be researched or documented via research and real life examples if there was no need to discuss or dictate this information for the better.

Only advice i say it try both (yes you have tried fasted in the past) try a different thing and see how it treats you

Totally agree with all of this. As I assume you're doing HIIT, how do you have yours laid out? Similar to how it was in that interview or a more conventional 30-60sec/30-60sec sprint/rest?

15 sec sprint 45 second rest

had a great upper body day today. i wasnt feeling it really, my stomach hurt and i was super tired.
i knew i wouldnt be breaking PR's so i did more of a "hypertrophy" type day. almost all sets in the 9-15 rep range.
slow 2-4 second negative. explosive as possible concentric. im gonna be a hurting unit tomorrow.
 
Yesterday, to make my 2014 goals a reality, I tried out an entirely new workout routine at a new facility that just opened locally (Planet Fitness)!
 
I felt sick this morning so I drank my pre and headed to the gym. An arm workout and sauna visit later, I felt great.
 
On Tuesday, to make my 2014 goals a reality, I skipped getting dessert even though everyone else around me ordered it.

To make my 2014 goals a reality.... last night I went out to eat for a family member's birthday, and I ordered not one, but TWO steaks, and made my mom pay for them both.

and how quick the divorce rate is (nearly a 4 year turnover)
relationships are a lost art, people get together, have sex like no tomorrow have kids by the age of 18-21 and then put themselves on welfare the rest of their life, throw their college education down the drain, and why people cant afford to grow up and live.

I agree in this sense, but the sleeping around is just not for me. STD has also increased due to the drastic increase in multiple sex partners. Each has there pros and cons imo.

thats what i have been doing, thats why im finally looking for my first real relationship

at 20 years old? plenty of time to find a real relationship in the future one you get your job settled first and foremost, see if you have to reloacte, and then focus on finding a wife/significant other that will be around your area or would be willing to travel with you if you had to reloacte. since you are still young, probably have some education/college to finish and still may be undecided on your future and your job (i know you are in the army) but dont know if you want to pursue school after or during your time (one of my friends is right now) and at Ohio State and looking to finish his medical degree, and his wife moved with him and found a new job in the area while he does finish his schooling.

I got into the relationship thing and had mine for about 3-3.5 years and then she went total AWOL, and never heard from her again, now i am doing just what i said about. Probably have to move (education Major) and then find a girl and think about a family. Try to keep your priorities in check, sometimes they can be a double edged sword. I am sure you are well aware of this.


Rest day for me today and tomorrow, working 10-8.
