Jim gets a month of R+R from the FREAKS over at Finaflex

nice work JB - lovin the vids (still)! ;)

cool mang
yeah I been lobbying for this since I got this position, but for a minute the owners were just adamant that this is how it was gonna be done, and were really amazed and boggled when I told them no other company was requiring such maneuvers
while I understand the premise, and it's really not too big a deal in the overall scheme of things -- when you're me or one of our reps, and you're doing as many promos as we do, it gets tedious as hell to keep track of these things..was driving me nuts! :p

anyway, glad you aer happy camper - I expect to see you in our next promo thread now :cool2:

indeed!!!

you training for a specific sport jim, or just improving overall fitness and endurance?

Lol, I don't even know what that means....

Anyway, just under a full scoop last night. Didn't fall asleep for hours, but slept like the dead once I finally went under. Which seems to be the norm.

And today:

ME Upper:

Warmup: Simple 6, EFS Pullapart Series x 1

Pre: 4 Max Pump, 2 Jack3d Micro, 1 Green Magnitude
Intra: 1 BCAA/SAA

Floor Press: 205 x 2, 225 x 2, 235 x 2 (with some major butt lift, so 225 x 2 is the heaviest I did right)

Incline Bench Press: 135 x 6, 155 x 6, 175 x 4, 155 x 6

a1. Fat Bar Cable Row: 100 x 8, 120 x 8, 140 x 8
a2. High Pulley Face Pull: 90 x 12, 110 x 12 x 2

b1. 1 Arm Landmine Press: 50 x 8, 75 x 8
b2. Band Pushdown: Green x 15 x 2

1 Arm Rope Curl: 30 x 10, 40 x 10

Invalid Link Removed

Good workout. Oh and CHECK OUT THAT SHIRT! Hadn't worn it for a while, but I found it today and wore it.

Pumped up, and those facepulls were ridiculously painful. Which can be seen by my facial expressions, band pushdowns were no better for this.

Last set of the Landmine Presses were a little ugly, but whatever. Lower the weight next time and do them better.

you don't know who serena Williams is? dude, you live under a rock, or what?
tom slipped that in outta nowhere tho, I don't have a clue where it came from :p

yeahhh buddy, nice ;)

I've been asked that before.

I don't watch a lot of TV or anything like that. Except for football.

Dude, whatever that camera was doing was making me seasick, and I've put in some boat time. Have you tried floor pressing with your legs flat? It eliminates the leg drive, but it can be a little too unstable for a ME day. Looked like those inclines were tough to stabilize. Probably a good thing to keep working on. I need to do, like, thousands of inclines. I used to be excellent at them.

I did floor press with legs flat leading up to it, but the squat stands were moved in the way so I couldn't extend them out.

My inclines or hers?

We hadn't inclined in a while, and the bar hurt her shoulder so she switched to dumbbells. Her later sets were better, but she didn't want them on video.

I was referring to yours. See your elbows swinging back and forth under the bar? It's subtle, but it's there. A hard set of dumbbell pressing will always nuke the stabilizers.

I hadn't noticed, and probably wouldn't have if you didn't say anything.

Ill watch it on the CPU when I get home and look for it.

How often do you do inclines? It could be just a lack of frequency thing. Or not torquing out on the bar enough. It's more likely to be a technical thing than a weakness, but if you found a weakness, then pushing up some heavy/hypertrophy on your inclines could yield huge bench gains, like, right now.

Very infrequently.

Which is why we did them today, as it has been a while.

Looks like I'll be doing them a little bit more often now (read: a lot).

And the video thing is YouTube "stabilizing" my video lol.

Good call, that will build some very functional stabilization.

Youtube can go to hell with that swervy stuff.

Yeah, I was going to start doing them more because they were heavy and shouldn't have been (175 x 4, dafuq is that ****?)

Now I have extra reasons lol.

Yeah, never hit the stabilize button on YouTube.

Yeah, never hit the stabilize button on YouTube.

Oh man, I'm telling you. I hit 245x8 last year and this year I did it and hit 225x5 barely and it hurt my shoulder to do so. The small muscles that are so crucial to benching can regress quickly.

Pissing me off and ****.

Added back to the SE rotation. :sigh: Always finding new things I suck at.....

Lol, he does suck at a lot of stuff.

I just got out of the military, I know all too well about all the ways he sucks.

i feel your pain...when i enlisted in 77 jimmy carter was pres!!!

Yeah with it having been a while stabilizers will be off a bit. I bet it comes up quickly Jim!

Thur- Character Building Day....

Pre: 2 Jack3d Micro, 4 Max Pump, 1 Green Magnitude
Intra: 2 BCAA/SAA

Drank all of the first shaker before even finishing the squats lol....

Warmup: Selective Limber 11 exercises, EFS Pullapart Series x 1, Work up to 315 x 2

Back Squat: 315 x 8 x 3

Did alright with these, the last set was good up until the last two reps. (which isn't on video today) The 7th my knees wobbled in a little and I didn't keep my weight pressed out and then the 8th I dropped so fast my chest ducked under, I recovered from it and finished the rep (at white light depth) but the spotter got a little worried lol.

4" Deficit Deadlifts: 225 x 10 x 2

Significantly harder than expected. First set was rough, second set was easier. I went to a different world when I stepped up to it the second time and just pounded out all ten. After a good 5 - 10 minutes of procrastinating because the first set hurt my soul.

Quad Dominant Leg Press: 490 x 5 x 4

Holy god these were awful. Quads were ON FIRE!

a1. 1/2 Kneeling Pallof Press (Anti-Rotation): 45 x 5, 50 x 5, 60 x 5
a2. GHR: BW x 8 x 2
a3. Squat Thing? : +25 x 12 x 2

IMG_20130919_201941.jpg

No better idea of what to call this thing, someone told me what you use it for but they didn't actually know what it was called....so.

You hook your feet under it and have your calves against the pad and then squat back and it hits the quads pretty well, so yeah.

Squats and Def. Deads, to the musical stylings of Godsmack. Will be uploaded in like 20 minutes or so.

This one was rough, taking a week or two break from the RE lower work and hitting some DE for a couple of weeks.

Also, lats and parts of the upper back are actually a little sore from yesterday. Only noticeable when doing certain things but I found that out when I got to the gym and started warming up today.

RE Upper:

Warmup: simple 6, EFS pullapart series x 1

Pre: 2 Jack3d Micro, 4 Max Pump, 1 Green Magnitude
Intra: 1 BCAA/SAA

CG (2" from slick) 1 Board Press: 185 x 10, 165 +40 x 10, 165 +80 x 5 -- 165 +40 x 4

Dips: +45 x 5 x 3, +45 x 4

a1. Wide NG Behind Neck Pulldown: 90 x 12, 110 x 12, 110 x 11, 100 x 12
a2. Strict DB Row: 60 x 6, 70 x 6 x 3

Holy jesus the pump....

Koklov Press: 75 x 8 x 2

b1. Lateral Raise: 20 x 10 x 3
b2. Reverse Grip Curl: 40 x 10 x 3

Ouch, that pump.

Wrist was fighting to give out on the RG curls today, besides that everything felt fine. Dips were awful, but that's how they're supposed to be! Overall, it was a good workout. I severely underestimated that 80# Chain on the last set, so I hopped off dropped the chain and pumped out 4 more. A little more delt volume today than usual, but they needed the extra work. ME DL on Monday, can't wait for that.

No gym Friday, it was pouring rain and I didn't really feel like it (read: I'm a lazy bum).

Not a lot happening these last few days.

Did some DLing yesterday with the last 1.5 scoops of BCAA/SAA and I'll be using my last scoop of G8 tonight.

Did some Strongman event stuff today as I plan to do a competition next Saturday, so I'll post the reviews up in the next day or so.

Strong man comp huh pretty bad ass Jim!

Strong man comp huh pretty bad ass Jim!

Yeah, it sounds like fun.

Fingals fingers, wheelbarrow load and carry, keg toss, yoke/Conan wheel, farmers carry, and stones.

Went and flipped the fingers today, heading over there this Saturday to work on the events some before next Saturday.

Final Reviews:

And as an added bonus, if one of you guys can PM me the review standards that you generally use for Max Pump I'll review it as well (even though I bought it myself)!

Please rate on a scale of 1-5: 1=Strongly Disagree; 2 = Disagree; 3 = Neutral; 4 = Agree; 5 = Strongly Agree
G8
1) This product helped me fall asleep...
3. Sometimes it seemed like it did, sometimes it seemed like it didn't. Was very off and on with me.

2) This product provided deep restful sleep...
5. Definitely provided deep restful sleep, very, very, very rarely would I wake up in the middle of the night on nights I used it. Nights I didn't use it I would almost always wake up a few times throughout the night, also woke up much more energized after nights of using it than I did with nights that I didn't use it.

3) This product enhanced my recovery...
4. Could easily be a 5, my recovery was very obviously enhanced from baseline levels but it's hard to know how much came from this supplement and the more restful sleep or from the addition of the SAAs.

4) This product helped me relax...
2.5. I notice other loggers say they felt a calming effect from it. I honestly can't say that I did, there were a few times when I noticed it but besides that not a very frequent occurrence. I normally go to bed pretty relaxed anyway so maybe that's why.

5) I really enjoyed this product and would recommend it to friends and family...
5. I definitely enjoyed the deeper and more restful sleep. I have already recommended it to people at the gym and throughout this log my wife used it twice and said she slept great those two nights that she used it. She has a harder time choking it down than I do, and really had to psyche herself up to drink it, but she usually has a ton of issues falling and staying asleep but never did on night's she used the G8.

Please rate on a scale of 1-5: 1=Strongly Disagree; 2 = Disagree; 3 = Neutral; 4 = Agree; 5 = Strongly Agree
BCAA+SAA
1) This product enhanced my recovery...
4. For the same reasons as above, my recovery was definitely better than usual but it's hard to pinpoint exactly which of the two made the most difference.
Individually I give them both 4s, together an easy 5 (or 6).

2) This product helped me power through my training sessions...
5. Definitely, it tastes great and I would find myself refilling the shaker 2-3 times a session (mine can get pretty brutal). Sometimes I would almost notice a instant motivational boost when drinking it before another set; hard to describe. It gave me a bit of a mental edge, so to speak.

3) This product kept me hydrated...
5. I can't say I ever found myself dehydrated, like I said above, I would refill my shaker 2-3 times a session and keep drinking it.

4) This product tasted great...
5. At first I thought it was a bit too sweet, but after a few times drinking it it didn't bother me at all. It's a weird apple (not like some other apple flavored stuff I've tried) but it was very good and refreshing. Even after drinking down to the last 1/4 of my shaker and refilling it the taste would still be fairly strong and very good.

5) I really enjoyed this product and would recommend it to friends and family...
5. I have and will continue to recommend it. I'm not entirely sure that I'm sold on the whole science of SAAs, but I do know that something in the BCAA/SAA is very effective when it comes to enhancing recovery. I will buy this again (so feel free to put it on sale soon!)

Excellent review and log JimChevy, ahem, JimBuick. I'm very happy to know that you enjoyed the products. I happen to be a big fan as well. I'll have to dig through my stuff to find the max pump rating system. I'll try to have that to you real soon.
Good luck with the strongman route. I know you'll keep me posted. Oh, 275 is too much dude. Just saying.

1 out of 5, with 5 being the highest score possible...
Max Pump

1) Vascularity/Pump
5. I'm not particularly vascular to start with (never have been, even when I was skinny as ****) but I would definitely notice an increase in it. The real reason this gets a 5 however, is the pump. The pump with 4 preworkout is ridiculous, there isn't even a better way to describe it just ridiculous.

2) Muscle Endurance/Stamina
5. Muscular endurance was increased, my rep work just kept on going when using it (until the pump got too painful that is).

3) Muscle Strength
4. Strength increased pretty steadily while using these 3 products, which is kind of the point of my training. So, yes, over the last month with these I got stronger.

4) Overall Physical Performance
5. Improved, I took it before conditioning days and before WO days. My cardiovascular condition seemed to improve after using it for a week or so, it made a noticeable difference.

5) Overall Opinion of Product
5. I would definitely recommend this to people at the gym (and already pointed one guy in the direction of NP to buy it), its a very simple supplement but is very effective. Does exactly what it's advertised to do.

I'll send it to ya this afternoon if someone doesn't get to it before me.

Yeah, you told me before that it makes a major difference and now I see why. Also, its not that much more than I weigh now :biglaugh:
You are to late buddy.
Now now boys, no reason to fight over little old me.

thanks for dedicating your time here JB!
glad we could be beneficial to your goals
