Cut Like Iron - with Ironflex Supplements Alpha-90

I know a lot of guys are getting back into school.. I'm liking the BB bent rows at 195x5 good work there.. If I remember correctly your close to the weight you started, if so sounds like a nice recomp going on here.. :)

Ya it's been a pain in the ass as i'm in a whole new school and area of CA. Trying to learn best way to get there, buying a road bike to commute, getting books and rail pass, etc etc etc. Not to mention working 5-6 8 hour shifts a week.

I love bb rows, and I can turn it in to a pendalay row on the last rep or 2 to get them out. As far as weight goes i'm surprised at where i'm at now considering the noticeable increase in leanness. So far it's been a perfect recomp.

Completely destroyed myself lifting yesterday. Work was so chitty. I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck. Going to re-feed again today and see if i'll lift at all. Upperbody seems good to go but I don't want to compound any issues I may have with recovery.

Single Leg Squat
3 x 10 (each leg)

Front Squat
10 x 135, 8 x 185, 3 x 225, 2 x 235, 2 x 235, 3 x 225, 6 x 205

Sumo Deadlift
10 x 225, 10 x 245, 8 x 285, 8 x 295, 8 x 305, 6 x 315

Arm superset
4 x 12

Seated Leg Extension (quad)
4 x 12-15

Superset of Kettelbell swings, lying leg raises, and pushups

No cardio needed, I was already pretty low on cals and that workout just exhausted me. Was pretty happy with strength on my squat and deadlift. Can definitely notice just "feeling" stronger when I do compound lifts. I probably went a bit too hard considering the type of split I do, but I was feeling good and just kept pushing. Weighed in at 198.7 which is what I thought I would, the weight gain the other day was from the re-feed just as I thought.

Absolutely no need for cardio after that workout.. I love the way this cycle is going for you, exactly the way I would run it for my personal goals...

Your front squats are strong Rhadam. Hopefully after your re-feed the exhuastion will disappear. As for the cardio, on days you run supersets like that I don't see the need. Especially if your in a deficit with calories + your calorie expenditure. Log looks great so far!

Sorry for a bit of a gap in the posts, had 2 setbacks both from work. Strained a muscle in my core from lifting a keg, I was exhausted from my workout earlier in the day and just lifted it poorly. Then I bruised my right quad somehow and was limping for 2 days. I still got in some upperbody work but nothing worth posting about. Kept cals kind of high for the past couple days I really needed it. Today's workout was fantastic, felt great to be back 100%. Hit a nice Row PR and all-around high intensity lifting.

As for body comp and such, weighed in at 199.0 today, looking lean however stomach holding some bloat from my diet the past couple days. Been on the go so much I had to resort to some different foods to hit macros lol. Carbs a bit higher than normal. No sides or anything from Alpha-90, feeling good. No lethargy, just some nice consistent strength increases.

Bent-over BB Row
8 x 135, 6 x 185, 6 x 195, 5 x 205, 5 x 215, 5 x 225 (PR)

Superset wide grip and reverse close grip lat pulldown
4 sets, 8-10 reps each grip

Arnold DB Press
4 sets, 10-12 reps, 35lb DBs

Close Grip Bench
10 x 135, 10 x 145, 9 x 155, 8 x 145

Kettelbell Swings superset with Kettelbell clean and press
4 sets, 8 reps each arm (16 reps per arm per 1 set)

Finished off with some leg raises until stomach started cramping and the usual pushups.

Dang son! Look at them rows!

So you're getting some strength Increases with the alpha 90 (this is obvious, look at them rows!) what about appetite? And muscle fullness?

Ya I kind of surprised myself, I've pulled 225 once but it was sloppy. Yesterday I pulled 4 times pretty good form kept the 90 degree angle and pendalayed the last rep. One of those things where guys in the gym stopped to look lol.

So appetite has been pretty huge for me, I keep forgetting to mention this. I've been using iForce Dexaprine as an appetite suppressant when I need it, but man there are times where I feel like gnawing off my arm. Partly due to me not having cut for a while, but definitely part of the Alpha-90 sides. I've mentioned the fullness a few times, and it's still here. Consistently surprised that i'm leaning but staying so full. I'm looking bigger than normal while losing some fat. There's really nothing better you could hope for.

^^^^ this !! Those BB rows are serious!!

Thanks man. Felt great :D

I'd like to talk for a second about why I've utilized Sumo Deads the past couple weeks, and will do so again today. I might even go for a fourth week. Whenever I come to plateaus or just road blocks in lifts (as I call them) I always try to sit down and analyze what's going on. I'm not super smart when it comes to kinesiology but I know how to do research which makes up for some base knowledge. My Deadlift has kind of stalled at about 435. Back is rounding, which is to be expected at max effort, but I started to notice some hip flexibility issues and back issues. The obvious answer here was accessory work.

One of the best things I've ever read about deadlifting was from Dave Tate (I think) when he said don't concentrate on picking up the bar, that will cause you to activate upper back and arms which is bad. Think more of pulling the bar to you while pushing your hips in to it. Your hips and glutes are such a common forgotten element of the deadlift, and probably should be addressed by any intermediate bodybuilder who comes up to a block in their Deads. One of the easiest [implemented] fixed for these issues is to Sumo Dead for a few weeks. Sumo puts pressure on your hips and glutes to activate and pull the weight. You can also really focus on keeping proper back arch and strength, static back strength is a must for deadlifts.

My hope is that after these 3-4 weeks of Sumo Deads I will be able to pass up 435/445 and keep going for my 500lb DL goal.

Well hopefully the "after" pics really show what i'm seeing. So far having a great run, I've been pleasantly surprised numerous times.

I'm sure they will bro, you've been puttin in the work and I'm sure it'll show at the end. Plus just from the latest selfie you took you can see the change in your abs already

Quick update with yesterday's workout. Super exhausting. Pushed very hard. Weighed in at 198.6.

Sumo DL
8 x 225, 6 x 315, 4 x 365, 3 x 375, 2 x 385, 1 x 385, 3 x 365, 10 x 225
Incline BB Press
10 x 135, 10 x 155, 10 x 165, 9 x 165
Goodmornings
4 sets, 95-105 lbs, 10 reps, strict form
Ketelbell work (the usual)
2 sets swings and clean and press, 10 reps each arm
Seated Calf Raise
4 sets, 10-14 reps

Tried to do some abs and pushups but after 2 sets my stomach just gave out from exhaustion and dehydration. Just dripping sweat everywhere it was insane lol. Pretty happy with the Sumo progress. Took video of 365, 375, and 385 and having my expert friend check my form. Otherwise, i'm off to work. Crossing my fingers I can get through this 8 hour shift after that workout lol.

Nice job on those Sumo's!! My new workout calls for them hope to be able to pull that kind of weight.. Hope you survived the shift? LOL

Last couple workouts not really worth mentioning. Basically just lifted what wasn't so damn sore. Those heavy sumos and goodmornings wrecked my posterior chain. Really just been concentrating on keeping intensity up regardless of what I do. Still looking full, stomach staying lean. I'm at about 198.2 as of last night and that was fed and almost 100% of my water intake. Pretty happy with body comp right now. I can say that alpha-90 has done almost nothing for recovery, but to be honest I didn't expect it. The increases in strength and aggression in the gym have been well-worth the lack of recovery. Lifting today, no lifting tomorrow, and Monday i'm going to a friend's physique comp at Venice Beach. Should be a good time to check out some of my competition for when I get back in to shows after the new year. Have a great weekend peeps.

Great update. Sucks the recovery aspect isn't up to par like the aggression and strength. But it is what it is.

Sorry Rhadam! I missed your log! Catching up now but the later review says you are getting excellent strength and aggression. Yet recovery is taking longer? Funny how different compounds have different results eh?

Keep killing it, man. Glad to see more Alpha-90 logs going up

Busy weekend here in LA. Had to work a couple doubles, didn't lift sunday or Monday. Monday I went to a friend's competition at Muscle Beach and he took first in his class and first overall in physique. Super pumped for him, just more motivation for me to get back in to competing. Definitely happy with the run so far and it's really helped push me further towards my goals. Doing another competition after the new year is definitely in my sights.

Weighed in today at 198.0 and that was after a hectic schedule and poor nutrition. Stomach is looking really good, and noticing even more definition in the arm areas. Biggest improvement though that I just noticed is that my chest has never looked so full. I've said a couple things about muscle fullness on Alpha-90 being significant, but I completely missed the chest "gains." I've lost a bit of bodyfat and that has improved the definition, but this is maybe the best my chest has looked in a LONG time. The after pics should really be noticeable. Got a good workout in today, hips were really stiff so I did conventional DL. Flexibility was just not there today. Combination of not lifting for 2 days and being on my feet running around the bar so much the past few days. But we make the best out of it and hit it hard regardless.

Conventional DL
8 x 215, 6 x 315, 4 x 365, 3 x 385, 2 x 405, 2 x 415, Fail @ 425, 1 x 405

Incline DB Press
10 x 80, 10 x 85, 10 x 90, 8 x 90

Leg press
4 sets, 5-6 plates @ 8-12 reps

Goodmornings
4 sets, 10-12 reps @ 105-115lbs

Military Shoulder press machine
4 sets, 10-12 reps

Superset BB close grip press / DB Hammer Curl
4 sets

Hanging Leg Raises
4 sets, 12-15 reps

15 min cardio (LISS)

Nothing better than leaning out and still looking full at the same time.. The leaning effect this is having has really surprised me :) nice DL #'s going to have to try 425 again before this ends..

I was sure I had sub'd in on this but I guess not. :buttkick:

Anyways, glad to see things are going good in here! Funny thing is, I'm not having any problems with recovery really. I'm drinking two 32 oz bottles of BCAAs a day though.

Hey look who found his way!!! Glad to see you here Luke...

Not too much to report from yesterday. Had to make it a quick gym session as body was hurting and I was semi short on time. Did more of a calisthenics workout and then some cardio. I decided i'm not going to post any pics until the final "after" pics as I don't want to ruin any sort of surprise lol. Hoping I can finish off this run strong and give a good showing of exactly what Alpha-90 has helped me do. Haven't decided what i'm doing today, been stuck on homework and catching up on some sleep.

In other noods I'm currently talking to a football coach at my college about possibly being an assistant to their strength coach! Big news for me. Should find out Tuesday if they can bring me on. I am excite.

That's really cool about the strength job gig!! Hope you get it.

So do I. It works out pretty well as the days they are in the weight room i'm free and already at school. Will be a lot of work for a few months but I love what I do and I really need to start building my resume. It's all about getting your name out and making contacts. I'd gladly have no life during this football season to get in with this team.

That could be a pretty sweet gig! As long as the players aren't tools! Lol!

Good luck with getting the gig and I am excited about the gains you seem to be making. You just about have me talked into tossing some sumos into my program.

Caz, really a product designed for a lot of strength increase is dually designed for fat loss. Just depends on the diet. Remember that even fat cells have Androgen Receptors and highly androgenic compounds attach to those and cause them to release fat for energy. That is one of the reasons that people use Tren products during both cutting and strength phases, since it is highly androgenic. Only difference here if I am not wrong is that Alpha 90 is considered a wet compound correct? However that is easily remedied with a cleaner diet and or an AI.

This is going to be my next run, and I'm bulkin :) when am I not though lol

Man. If you ever doubt that things happen for a reason, there are times in your life when you'll be reminded very strongly. In the course of two days I found out my dad had a mini-stroke (guy is 70 and an amazing athlete), a guy at a D2 college wants me to come train him and then work me in to meeting their strength and conditioning coaches, and 2 hot ass girls from the soccer team at my uni want me to strength train them :D. I literally have no clue when i'll find the time for all this nonsense but damn, life finds a way to keep you on your toes.

Not going to update with a workout. The past few have been good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Hips have been taking a major beating from sumo squats so i'm going to go back to conventional for a while. When I can't even go in to a crouched position... something needs to change. Otherwise i'm feeling strong, feeling full, and have a pretty decent increase in mood/aggression.

I completely missed this log!! Just read through it all. Great results and crazy strength! Especially for a cut!!

Congratulations on the good things happening in your life and my heart goes out to you regarding your father. I am going through issues with my fathers health right now too.

Appreciate the support and kind words fellas. Something that a lot of people just won't understand how total strangers can be close and the bond that lifters share. Things are going well with dad, and it's increased my motivation both in lifting and in school. Had a pretty great workout yesterday, a bit out of the ordinary but wanted to work on some movements I rarely do. If i'm going to be doing some strength and conditioning work I need to refresh my Olympic lift form hehe. Didn't weigh myself, but body comp is holding steady.

No real weights tracked, but here's the rough overview.

Clean and Press
5 sets, 6-8 reps, 135+ lbs
Clean and front squat
4 sets, 3-5 reps, 135+ lbs
Bent Over Barbell Row 90 degree strict form
10 x 135, 10 x 155, 10 x 175, 8 x 185
Pullups
wide grip, 4 sets, reps to failure
Superset Close Grip Bench + Hammer DB Curl
4 sets, 10 reps each
Kettelbell swings
1 arm swing, 25lbs, 4 sets, 10 reps each arm

15 minutes incline treadmill 3.7 pace

Those clean to front squats look like hell. You getting back pumps or anything of that nature with alpha 90?

I'm always amazed at the support we all provide for each other.. Brothers in iron am I right?? Lol mean looking session right here..has your recovery improved at all??

It is odd, how people you've never met and more than likely will never meet can be so encouraging and supportive.

No back pumps, BUT, Taurine ingestion pre workout is mandatory for me regardless of what i'm using or not using. 6g before every workout. I feel that Taurine is HIGHLY overlooked as a great aid for workouts. Plus is stupid inexpensive.

Recovery seems to finally be improving, haven't really changed diet at all, but I think either having more alpha-90 in the system or who knows what is helping. Still at around a 500 cal deficit outside of a reefed day once per week but that's kept to my maintenance level. Had to do a 1.5 mile run for my kinesiology class today, NOT FUN. 14:12 time hahaha. My teacher just gave me this look... all I said was last time I ran a mile was about 7 years ago bro, LISS is my cardio of choice :D

It's funny how we can look so "in shape" but cardiovascular health can be very poor. I can lift very intensely and do HIIT or supersets or dropsets or ketelbell work or rope work... but get out on to a track and run a mile or 2 miles and i'm dying after 3 laps.

I'm happy to hear the recovery has finally set in!!! It's funny how the body gets use to certain exercises and once you change that you feel like you died.. For me, my body is such a creature of habit..

I know. My rear delts are killing me from all the cleans. Really points out certain weaknesses when you throw in new exercises. I think I only have a few days left of pills so i'll be finishing this out strong. Just got home from the gym and pulled 435 conventional DL two times which i'm happy with. That's a nice strength increase from the beginning of the log, especially considering I've been under reduced cals this whole time. Body comp looking great. Fullness is unreal. I will most likely wait a couple days after my last dose of Alpha-90 to get proper pics in. Can't wait :D

I've been thinking this since I got active with this forum & others back in'04. People on here understand me better than my own friends! Lol.
