Nice, they're a new favorite of mine as well. They feel great in my rear delts, traps, and upper back overall. I'll probably keep doing them twice a week up until my show.
when & where?
Nov. 2nd at the Hancock Theater in Boston. There's a smaller competition in NH the week before that I might enter if ready.
you're competing in BB right?
Also do both.
I've always done back to back shows.. I've never seen a point to diet for so damn long for just one day. Might as well do a few shows once you're already that lean..
That's how I see it any way, just my .02
I'm gonna try physique this first time around and see what I think of the whole experience. The only shows that I could find around here were NPC (untested) and I'm not sure how well I'd do in their BB category. I doubt that I'd be lean enough at that point either.
Yeah, if I have the cash I'll probably do both. I saw a flyer yesterday for a WBFF show in Providence on Nov. 9 that could be another option. Luckily I don't have to take calories very low to lean out. I'm doing alright now with 3600-3700 a day.
Sorry to hijack, Sean, just one last thing while we're on this subject.
Breezy if you can find a drug tested show do that instead.
the first time I got on stage as a teen, I did two natural shows and did well (1 st/5 in teens, 2 nd/10 in mens novice and 1/4 and 1/4 in both shows, respectively)
I went to a non drug tested show thinking "these guys are teens they won't be on anything"
Couldn't be any more wrong.
I was in the minority being natural and I got destroyed. 4/4, 3/4
Not saying you won't do well, just telling you my experience.
Hitting 395 for 5x5 in sleeves and just now learning to use the GHR? Scary lol.

Stretching will kill you and give your dick cancer.
Stretching is good.
It's confusing man! Haha
Awesome skwatz Sean!
haha right? Well Pavel's "strength stretching" is pretty much KStarr's stuff. Just with a hairy Soviet that's convinced everyone can do the splits, they're just afraid to. It's nothing static. You're still mobilizing everything. I just appreciate how Pavel directs it specifically towards sumo/wide stance PLers.
That is definitely cool to have that sport specific help. He is one limber bro.
Sounds good to me! I think it's become my favorite facepulling variation. I think doing it on the lat-pulldown machine is more difficult, but the low-pulley feels pretty effective. Beat my rear delts and traps up.
Nice OHP, Sean. No real critiques. Mainly, it's important with lower weight to try to maintain as neutral of a spine as possible and not hyperextend so much, and so when you brace your spine you do it very differently from a squat, almost like you're mid-rep on the ab-wheel.
I had something else to say, but in the 5+ pages I had to read to catch up I forgot what it was...
EDIT: Ah yes, the GHR. Yeah, I think I know exactly how you used to do them. I did them like that as well for the longest time, even on DC. I worked up to doing rest-paused sets with a 45lb plate. Tough ****. No way I could do GHRs with like 66lbs for sets of 10 the old way at 250lbs.
No gym. Short on evening time and would rather spend it at home with the mini-me. I'll bench tomorrow hopefully, probably at the Air Force gym (douchebags galore, sorry any AF guys) considering its a 5 minute drive compared to 30. I'll Pull Thursday night when he goes to sleep at the real gym.

Now why you gotta go and make me feel inferior first thing in the morning?
Purely done to inspire greatness boys!! It's out there and these guys prove that it is possible.

Video isn't loading for me ATM (reception). But the one I'm really curious about is this Burley Hawk character. He's gotten one meet in, zero films of his lifts, and people are all but handing him Don Reinhoudt's raw record that's stood for 28 years.
EDIT: Damn why would someone do that?
He has some nice numbers. The squat record? He is a junior.
What weight class are we talking about here?
Don't know if you've heard or seen this monster. He is Brian Shaw and goes 6'8" at around 400...

Watch after he is done and starts to walk towards the other guys...look at his size compared to them...wow
