am i overtraining?

Do more work with the compound exercises and get rid of the 1 set of all of those tedious, low return, exercises. You're not overtraining but you're throwing the kitchen sink at yourself with little to no rationalization for many of those movements

Too...
Much...
Volume...

Ditch the Smith, focus on compound movements, and use the assistance lifts for extra hypertrophy and strengthening weaknesses within the kinetic chain.

I thought I clicked on a Chinese Chemistry test...!??? Ha ha,
What the others said. I mean, can I ask why you don't do a standard proven W/O that's out there?

idk, i figured i'd try my own for a little bit, based on the equipment that was available at my gym. now i belong to 2 gyms, so have more flexibility as the one gym is kinda limited. will prob go back to a proven routine in the next few weeks. any recommendations?

Well, as far as I am concerned the best machines in the mainstream gyms rarely get used. The power racks and free weights, but hey I am an old school meathead. I just think many of the machines, are for keeping interest up and membership coming. Maybe I am bias!?

Steiner's Hardgainer Routine
McCallum's Keys
Rips SS
McRoberts Brawn
Starr's 5x5
Ditilloi's (The Tight Tan Slacks website has some good stuff)
Stronglifts 5x5

There are many good routines out there, but the common denominator between al of them is a good steady diet of the 5-7 compound exercises with some smaller assistance thrown in at the end.

What are your goals for a program? That would make it easier to suggest one for you. I currently really enjoy PRRS.

trying to add lean muscle. prob gonna do an all out bulk at the end of summer/early fall.

FWIW I used PRRS while on a cut but managed to increase all of my lifts. It definitely helped me put on some lean muscle, plus I enjoy the variety.

wow. did you find a list of every exercise known to man and decide to use them all on a program?????

how about this. learn to squat, deadlift, squat, and overhead press. work on those first and save the fluff for the people that like to spin their wheels and sale magazines.
