You know your Country is f@#ked when...

Its going to become a registry. Ultimately its going to favor goverment vs. the people when its time to go door to door and confiscate guns.

They have done so in our recent past in New Orleans with Katrina for example. They went door to door and confiscated thousands of guns from law abiding gun owners. All they have to do is declare martial law for whatever reason (economy crashing, natural disaster, war, a small act of terrorism, etc...) and they know exactly where to go to pick up their prize.

I say the hell with background checks.

And examples such as what happened with Katrina is one of the reasons I support our Bill of Rights...

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

It can't even pass a Law extending background checks to ALL people looking to purchase a gun.

Wtf is wrong with USA, it's bad enough the streets are filled with guns, now a simple Law making it harder for criminals to attain guns can't even be passed.

A corrupt and doomed Country...

You must not pay attn to the people who generally post in t s section. Most of them are liberty loving folks who Probably just shook their head at your comment hahah kinda like I just did. Criminals don't get their guns legally.....

Hi guys, what's going on?

Oh, another Australian arguing our gun laws...

Are the arguments any different this time?

Nope same vomit, he hasn't come back in a few days I think he got the message. He couldn't rile us up, I think he thought he was just gonna be dealing with the stereotypical meat head dummy and thought he was gonna own us. Didn't happen.

True and hilarious? Hilarious is a personal opinion, true is not. It's a comedy show. There is little truth to that type of "comedy".

seriously, pull your head out of your ass.

Why do you even care what our laws are if you don't even live in the U.S.A.? Besides, you saying us Americans should give up guns is like telling the Canadians to give up beer! Aint gonna happen!

Just came across the clips on good old youtube and thought they were so true and hilarious. It really is so funny

Its not funny at all, they are taking a serious issue and turning it into a circus.

Thats complete and utter nonsense. Australia likes a beer just as much as any country, for you to even say it's like telling canadians to give up beer just shows how ignorant and stupid you are. A gun is purely designed to KILL.

It is very funny because everything that is said is so true but done in a comedic way to show how stupid yanks are. It's all facts which have been brought up many times.

Alcohol is deadlier than guns. Here in America we lost 10,000 lives on drunk driving incidents alone in 2012...and all the domestic violence, liver disease, etc....

Unlike guns which dont kill people, alcohol does kill people.

You call it facts because it aligns with your personal biases.

Can we all please stop posting on this thread. I hate seeing it pop up on my notification and its the same rubbish coming from this jack wagon. We all understand you are an anti gun wanna be Australian who enjoys calling people ignorant and stupid. Well Kettle meet Pot. And what are you doing up at 9 am on a Sunday touting the same argument from a month ago? Are you lonely? Sad? That in need of attention that you have to try and start conflict with people on the other side of the world who obviously have a different belief system than you do? Maybe try and do something constructive with your life. Go out and learn something or spend some time in the gym so some one can see you and post about you in the D-bags in the gym thread.

LOL, you just shot yourself in the foot so to speak. That is an extremely high number of drink driving accident deaths isn't it? Well gun deaths far surpass that and are on PURPOSE. You yanks really don't make for good debate do you.

You see what alcohol can do to people in cars accidently, what about people who are drunk and have access to a gun designed to kill? Cmon mate your comments make no point.

McCrew, I actually don't want to keep debating to tell you the truth. I just wanted to post those funny videos from a comedy show from your country. It's nothing to do with attention and I have a beautiful wife I wake up to every morning who gives me all the attention I need. Wow I didn't realise 9am was so early.

I spend plenty of time during the week in the gym I don't dedicate my weekends there as well. You've really got no idea whatsoever about anything do you.

Again I'm not debating anymore as it's impossible against gun toting hicks.

Any more comments to this thread I will just keep re-quoting my post with the links to the true comedy clips from your American comedy show.

Once again, you resort to name calling. I have been nothing but civil to you.

A gun is designed to do a job. Some to kill as for military, hunting or self defense. Some are made for sport as in target shooting competitions. Perhaps you have seen some of these that are designed for target shooting in the Olympics. There are many different types of competitions for shooting and each uses a variety of different guns that are usually customized for that event. Saying that all guns are made to kill is completely absurd. What about a bow and arrow? A person can lose several arrows fairly fast and not make very much noise at all. Maybe it's just the fact that their a little bit hard to conceal that nobody has an issue with them. Or how about blow-guns? Easy to conceal, easy to use and easy to make your own gun and ammo. Why, it's even easy to get something poisonous to dip the tip of the darts in. You can even reuse the darts!

It would almost be worth debating with him, but as you mentioned he always resorts to the name calling.

Now anyone with a differing opinions is a "stupid Yank" or a "gun toting hick/hillbilly." Ridiculous.

I bet if every American or Australian had this in there home the crime rate would plummet

10,000 from drunk driving alone....add in all the other alcohol related deaths. Regardless if guns may be slightly higher, your promoting a dangerous substance as if its all cool and nothing wrong with it.

What about drunk people who have access to a gun? So its the alcohol then, not the gun yet you love alcohol.

It seems you live a double standard.

No no no, if I had something like that I would be very tempted to shoot people like you in the face, that's why I'm so glad guns are illegal here so there is no temptation to use one.

Oh and well in America you pretty much already have atleast 1 gun per person which includes kids and elderley, meaning most adults really have more than 1 gun each. So why on earth would you want more? Lol the solution is more guns hahahaha

And our crime rate in Australia has significantly gone down since guns were banned here so it would be most stupid to re-introduce them.

Your funny lol

What if someone tempted to poor gasoline around your house while your sleeping and light it on fire and your whole family dies? Should we ban gasoline as well as matches? What if that person was drunk when he did it, will you agree to ban alcohol as well?

Again, alcohol isn't designed to kill, guns are. You can't ban everything in the world. It's not. Double standard at all.

Alcohol in no way is designed or used to kill people, but the effects of alcohol obviously contribute to certain things. Guns on the other hand are designed to kill, on purpose. It's really not that hard to understand.

Can we ban culinary tools since we now know they are tools of terrorism? Do you have a knife in your house? Can you please surrender to your local authorities?

Why not? Alcohol causes people to become violent terrorists and are responsible for millions of deaths around the world.

Stop being a hypocrite.

Maybe I am :-) thats why it's a good idea to keep guns out of hands of people that could easily use them whether they are mentally ill, 'evil', psychopaths, or just in a general fit of rage from dealing with idiotic people. Guns easily accessible in the wrong hands = people shot dead

What about mentally ill, 'evil', psychopaths who have access to beer? This sounds like a terrible mix, beer should be banned in Australia and the rest of the world. It's really not that hard to understand.

Why, you must be one of them two-toothed- redneck-hillbilly-inbred-stupid-ignorant-gun-toteing-hicks from America! Lmao!!
Actually good sir Ill have you know all of my incisors are intact and I received a fine education. Furthermore neither my mother or my further are of the same relation. I do however enjoy my liberties and exercise my right’s to use them. ‘Merica!

Wow! Gotta love it when a person from another country tries to tell someone how their country "should" handle things. Love all the name calling too. Usually in a debate, that is a very good indicator of frustration and feeling a loss is eminent. I'm not going to look it up but just wonder what the statistics are about "crimes stopped by firearms" (obviously not including law enforcement) to throw in some more food for the troll. How about how many of the guns in America are used for hunting or what a ban would do to that industry or the wildlife population. Insurance companies push for longer hunting seasons on deer because of all the wrecks, injuries and deaths caused by deer running into the roads. How much more would that be if there were no hunters to control the populations of wildlife? We are an agricultural country and the wildlife flourish because of it.

Never got a response to this.

If your crazy in America you can not legally buy a gun... You would be more likely to use a knife like that kid in Texas...

1. I'm not crazy and could legally buy a gun, I just go a bit psycho sometimes dealing with stupid people in the heat of the moment. So it's not hard to buy a gun.

2. Yes I would be more likely to use a knife but I wouldn't have been able to murder 70 people watching a batman movie with a knife

* 13 shooting massacres in the 18 years before our gun reforms. No massacres since gun reforms in 1996.

* Took just 12 weeks to draft, debate, and implement our gun reform legislation.

Well, you can rip the beer can open and use it to slit someones throat and kill them.

It causes people to be irresponsible murderers by getting behind the wheel of a 2,000+ pound projectile and smashing it into innocent victims including children. We lost about as many people with drunk driving in my country as we did gun related deaths.

It also causes people be fueled to engage in domestic violence, this is a really serious issue in our country. People drink, get mad violent and kill people, their chain of thought is warped under the influence.

Ive seen heavy acts of violence myself including gang murder at a club all fueled by alcohol.

You live such a double standard, your really contradicting yourself.

Thanks, you just stated some valid points.

MOST of the murders mentioned above would have been done with a gun, you take away guns you reduce the murder rate. Yes people can murder by other means, but a gun is the easiest and quickest way. You can't unrun a bullet

Ok, so you blame the weapon and not the alcohol as the root of the cause.

Ill get on the same page as you then, lets ban cars. You let people drink whatever, but everyone should loose the right to drive because you dont know who drinks or not. And besides all in all we lose 30,000-40,000 deaths every year in overall traffic accidents.

Also, they are used as murder tools...a lady in a local city here in new york committed suicide by driving her car into the hudson river with her 3 kids making cars officially a murder tool!

No no no I'm not dismissing the root of the cause, there is still other issues at play like mental illness which need to be worked on. But as I've said a million times, when these people with problems or who are drunk or whatever have easy access to guns that are designed to kill people, then people get killed.

And well actually in Australia if you get caught drink driving you do lose your license.

You keep bringing up all these useless statistics about accidental deaths which have nothing to do with guns that are designed to kill on purpose. There is no comparison.

You sound like those ignorant people like Larry Pratt, Jesse Ventura, and the extremely ignorant Alex Jones.

Why arent you calling out for the ban of alcohol then? Whats your problem? You love your alcohol so you dodge any though of its ban, you are being completely irresponsible to your society.

They take your licesnse away? What a joke, Your country is full of 10's of thousands of irresponsible drunks.

Obviously, although in Australia your license get taken away, you guys still drinking and killing people.

The solution would be only to take away the car. Take away the car and take away the murder....let people continue to drink, this is in line with your philosophy.

Drink Driving Campaign

Drink & Drive and You Deserve It!

Drink driving contributes to over 30% of fatal road crashes.

In 2010, 29% of all fatalities had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of over 0.05g/mL. This also included 21% of fatalities with a BAC 3 times over the legal limit (greater than 0.15g/100mL).
In Western Australia in 2010/11, 17,103 drivers were tested by police and found to exceed the alcohol limit. Previous research has shown of these, approximately 60% were under 30 years of age.
Statistics also show that intoxicated drivers who are involved in fatal crashes are 3 times more likely to have been speeding or not wearing a seatbelt than sober drivers.
