Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Awesome video. I would have liked him to differentiate the DE and RE though; like is it the rep range that is key difference?

I don't have the book and am not doing cube but it is interesting for sure.

Sean, as an experienced powerlifter what style deadlift do you recommend for the 531 + BBB that I'm starting? Leaning towards sumo but I have no experience with then at all. Maybe sumo for the 531 and Romanian for the BBB? Thanks for the input

Yes. RE is basically what bodybuilders often use.

ME 1 with everything you got

RE ~15 like in bodybuilding

Stick with what ya know. Some people are built for sumo, some aren't. I'm conventional and stick that way. Rodja or Toro may be able to elaborate more

I totally agree with Lilly's thinking on the speed reps. They should be explosive "singles" and not just firing out reps. Reset, go thru the eccentric and pause, then explode thru the concentric. Great vid.

Cosign. Boom! Reset.

I have some pretty awesome hip mobility. Will probably train for sumo. Gonna hit up rodja...

went straps down for a SSB set. I had it hiked up a bit too high on my thigh it felt

bruises are present lol

Depends on if he's the type to spread his legs for just any man.

I think Sumo is a more technical lift than conventional.

What weight is 92.5% for you bubba?

Cube Method W3 Explosive Squat
Invalid Link Removed

Prewo:
-1.5hr out 7oz sirloin/sweet potato/1 slice Ezekial
-Half hour out 1.5x Enhanced, 2 PR-XT, 1 Nolvadren XT, 9g CitMal, 5g creatine mono, 1 scoop Gatorade

Warmup:
Foam roll, overhead squats w/ PVC pipe overhead, BW lunges, banded GMs

Pause Squats (285 bar weight+60# chain)
345x2x8

SSB Squat
250x10
395x6 suit w/ straps down PR
345x6x2 Raw w/ belt PR (video labeled wrong, forgot the SSB weighed more..)

Unilateral Leg Press
180x12x3

GHR, Light orange band around the chest
x15/12/12
x 1 Gatorade vomit
x8/6 (raw)

Ab wheel
x12x4

I'll post up videos of the session when I get home. My phones gonna die. I focused on getting my hips in the hole and powering out while maintaining tight form and avoiding too much forward lean.

I put the suit on because I was excited. Took less than 5 minutes to get it hugged up in my crotch. I don't even know here my d1ck went. I hit depth and it didn't seem to throw the form off at all. The rest of the SSB squats were great. I really felt my core working correctly to maintain my positioning on the ascent, whereas before my weight shifted onto my toes.

BW last night before bed with a full belly was 212.

Supplementation notes:
-Joint Force is from the Gods
-PR-XT/NolvXT is greatly similar to ABE/Erase. At 2 weeks my knees ached bad from the NolvXT but that's passed
-Enhanced kicks ass, good job PES
-CitMal is helping with endurance
-I bought Vanillean because my wife wanted to try a fat burner. It helps subside my hunger urges from PR-XT. I've leaned out considerably around the waistline. Don't take 2 caps at once or you'll burn when you crap
-SSv2 is an official staple now. 1 w/ breakfast, the other around dinner
-I've dropped a few lbs and am still gaining strength

I'd train conventional for all sets, when you become stronger and more experienced, experiment with sumo.

IMO

I've pulled a 5 before so stronger for me will be like 550+. I'm just gonna start at a reasonable 1rm for 531 so my percentages areent overestimating my ability. I'm doing a crash course for the next 3 days into 531 + BBB to establish my 1rm and go from there. Thinking of using 395 or 405 to establish my 1rm when I do back tomorrow. So 395 X 7 (guess) X 0.0333 + 395 = ~490. Close. Or I may just do conventional for the 531 and use the BBB to work on my sumo form... I'll find out tomorrow

bench shirt is in. do I need to cut the back??? otherwise that mf'er isn't going on

You're not gonna get that bad boy on yourself. I cut the back, but I liked how it performed better before I cut it.

Try getting the sleeves set then having someone else pull it over your head. Eventually you can work toward getting it set lower, in which case you'll need to cut the back or at least cut some out of the back of the collar.

my wife tried helping but then just started laughing

Hahahaha. Sounds like you might need to find someone who hasn't been afflicted with the giggles. Everybody always laughs like hell trying to get me into my shirt.

welcome to fail o'rama. a series of bad decisions was made today.

bad decision #1: asking for a spot. i asked the gym mgr to 'keep an eye on me, it shouldnt be a problem.' i wasn't really aware of how close he was to me until it was too late. i cut it 1 1/2 inches short when my ass hit him and i freaked. then he grabbed my chest for no reason. i had that sh.it. i was f'ing pissed. he said 'thats the way i spot people.'

fail #1:

would only let me post one vid:

bad decision #2: only waiting a minute until i tried it again. like i said, i was pissed, rushed everything and just f'ing dive bombed it, knees everywhere, just awful. lost it and for the first time in my life had to dump one over my head.

fail #2:

words can't describe how pissed i am right now. if you watch the end of fail 2, you can see my belt flying across the cage.

and to top it off, back = tweaked.

:(

Some days you eat the bear...

Sorry, man. I know how stuff like that will wreck you (mentally/physically).
