Sh1t out of luck for meets I think. I'll do the USAPL Boston Open in September in single ply. There's a August EPF Nationals in New Hampshire I could drive to but haven't even heard of EPF and they don't have any meet info.

Nope. APA/USAPL/RPS and I guess the EPF is a New England only thing. I could do one in Missouri but if I fly home to see family, I'm not gonna want to compete. I think I might take the September USAPL meet seriously for training and get used to the equipment over the summer. Thinkin 700 squat single ply sounds great lol

I competed in a suit once. I bought it and trained with it 3 or 4 times before the meet. That was a mistake. Good thing you are giving yourself some time to learn the gear.

Not a fan of the leg press but I was short on time and exhausted from work so I wanted to get home.

Squats were so so. Work is obnoxiously stressful this week and diet has been lacking because of it.

Of course my phone runs out if memory right when I got underneath the bar for reverse band. Next time.

I felt real sluggish because of work and diet. Im responsible for maintaining several hundred thousands dollars worth of search and rescue equipment that's being inspected next week. Even started dipping again. Stressed.

I wear chucks and sometimes pull in minimalist new balances.

I'm keeping fully raw reverse average bands in the toolbox. Should have a nice carry over to squats with belt and wraps.

Leg press was 30 seconds between sets.

Last rep of 445 was paused until I thought my face was going to explode.

Back is bleeding from the 55lb bar
 
Loving the workouts man. I know I am laying low with no training this week but I love following you and Herder as you guys throw around tons of weight...motivates my small self to get strong. :)

Hopefully Monday. I never take weeks off like this but I was feeling trashed from the meet and I have a bunch of crap to do this week anyways so it seemed a good time to take off.

I am eager to get back into it tho.
 
I squatted in chucks for the longest time. Then I moved to wrestling shoes... I just bought a pair of olympic weightlifting shoes that I'm going to try this weekend.
 
If you squat narrow like me then maybe look into some olympic lifting shoes. I know I spent a ton and probably not necessary but I LOVE my adipowers. :D

I do squat pretty narrow. I picked up some adidas weightlifting shoes from rogue yesterday. Should be delivered tomorrow.
 
I'm not lifting either bolt. Mines because of work though. I hate it.

haha yeah well you should have seen me when I started 5/3/1 back in October. I could only hit 465 3" above parallel. I don't think I took depth very seriously until the beginning of the winter. I actually find myself setting my lower back and pushin my butt out even to sit on the toilet or a chair lol squats everywhere!

Having a boy just over a year old helps...they naturally have perfect form- when he bends over to pick up a toy-perfect GM..when he squats down and holds something-paused goblet squat lol

You'll get there man. Your training seems a lot more structured than mine. you also have a much better work capacity than me
 
I say the same freaking thing about my daughter! I am always going "look at that! Perfect wide stance squat to the floor and straight back up!"

We'll see how structured it stays, although I'm sure I will get there (sometime in the next 5-8 years lol)

Testing that work capacity Sunday. Figure my first day back before an RE upper will be prowler sprints until I cry (no vomiting though, I despise vomiting)
 
With you taking some steps into gear I might try out some knee wraps. Just using them will make me feel hardcore. ;)

I won't compete without them lol If you don't need them I wouldn't rely on them BUT they're ****ing awesome haha My Elite FTS black/whites suck, too stiff. APT blue arrows are awesome, huge stretch and rebound, izner z's are so so, I only plan on using them for the USAPL meet as APT is a no go.
 
My son is going strapless as long as possible. I saw the other day that Matt Kroc squats without so we will see..

I'd say go without wraps as long as you can if you're strong at it. That makes me a huge hypocrite though. I'm going to try to do my RE days without them sometimes.

His meet is soon right?

guy at my gym competed last weekend and hit 585/305/625 raw..weighing 181lbs. those weren't even push and pull PRs for him

He competes next weekend. He is coming up this weekend and we are going to play around with some stims to see what he likes for the meet. What was your set up as far as your meet stims Sean?
 
I personally wouldn't take stims. My only supplement was caffeine free focus xt when i first got there. Maryland Powerlifting had a good 'first meet' article that recommended that I think. I dragged ass a little when I woke up that morning but nerves/excitement/being amped was all it took. It clicked out of no where once it got closer to warmups. Not sure what other people's take is. Ammonia did the job when I started feeling wrecked.

I'd say a cup of coffee in the morning and that'd be about it. A full power meet can easily go all day depending on the number of lifters. It'd take a lot of stims to keep you going all day.

He will be drinking a gallon jug of IForce Compete thru the meet but I was just thinking of having a pre-mixed bottle of Enhanced along to sort of sip on for the meet. He is sort of a stim rookie and I have let him try a preworkout now and then at the minimum dose. It had him wired for hours. Lol This is one reason why he is here this weekend for experimentation. Mwah ha ha

I sipped some CHO/BCAAs/PeptoPro during my competition. I was super nervous so I didn't really eat anything before hand though. :(
 
I'll probably do like a lighterish stim on the way and then maybe have something in the bag incase I get tired.

Also got some ammonia caps

It works too! I'm around 800mg for my optimal dose and it's killer! Then post workout I take 2-3g of Vit C and the jitters go away.
 
I used a heaping scoop on Enhanced about 30 minutes before my flight started for squat. I woke up really early and had already eaten twice by the time the meet started, so I didn't eat until after bench when we had a lunch break. I did sip on 10g BCAA/50g Karbolyn throughout squat and bench, though.
