breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

Haha yup.

Thanks Jiigzz. Super Cissus :wink1:. I'm not sure exactly how much weight it was. I'm guessing the bar is either 55lbs or 65lbs...I should figure that out.

Been meaning to give Super Cissus a try, do you really notice a difference when taking it?

Me too haha. Stability + chest training 2 for 1?
Lol, an effective way to work the stabilising muscles.. not too sure if its safe though ;)

Fired up the grill for some turkey burgers.

Wow. Idea for tomorrow

Besides dropping one to the damn habs.....

Night and day. I've mentioned this many times before, but if I could only use one supplement, that'd be it. I honestly don't think I could lift without it (maybe uncomfortably with very light weight). Before I started using it, I'd roll out of bed to avoid putting any pressure on my elbows...I currently have zero discomfort. :)

Safe? not so much lol. However, I definitely would've stopped if I felt like tipping was a possibility.

Put some crumbled bacon in them...extra crispy ;)

4/7/13

I switched up my leg work and concentrated mainly on squats. I wish I had a workout partner to critique everything that I was doing, as I know some of it could’ve been improved. I’ll probably do a similar leg session next week, but try to get everything on video, so I can figure out what needs to be corrected.

Seated Leg Curl
120x20
140x15
160x12
160x10

Box Jumps
6 sets of 3 with 30lb dumbbells

BB Back Squat
135x8
225x8
315x5
405x3
445x3

Speed Squats (1min rest)
5 sets of 4 @ 315lbs

-These were pretty bad. My speed definitely wasn’t where I’d like it.

Pause Squats (narrow stance)
225x5 (7sec pause)
245x5 (7sec pause)
265x5 (5sec pause)

-A partner would’ve been nice to help with timing.

This is the one set I recorded today. I think I’ll take them a little deeper next time and concentrate more on my explosiveness out of the bottom as well. I’m open to hearing any suggestions/critiques.

Final Set

Sissy Squat (stand/2sec hold)
3 sets of BWx8

Kettlebell Walking Lunges (weight per kettlebell)
50x30 (steps)
50x26

GHR
BWx15
BW+25x8
BW+25x6

I bet your legs are blasted. 445 on the Back Squat is impressive for a final set :D

A workout partner is always nice to have if you can find one dedicated enough.

One the SuperCissus®, the difference is huge for me. I only take 2 caps per day, 3 more recently, and the recommended daily serving is 4 capsules. My forearm tendons become inflamed very easily from squatting or any kind of pressing movement, but they haven't bothered me one bit since I started using it and my elbows and knees feel great.

From that angle the squat looked good, you're breaking at the hips first, your chest is staying up, your knees are out.
All I could say is maybe drive your neck into the bar more when you get tired.
On the last rep your chest fell and it looked like your low back was going to round.

Again though I only watched it once and it's a bad angle

Epic long pauses there...looks great to me. Maybe a very slight knee dip on 1 or 2 of them so just continue spreading the floor to keep the knees out, but otherwise very nice work.

Those pause squats are impressive with that kind of weight and such a long pause at the bottom. Nice work Breezy.

Nice squatting breezy...

As far as SuperCissus goes - I have bad knee issues when I run.. after a couple of weeks on Cissus it pretty much goes away (A+ in my books).

On a side note, my son plays AAA hockey. He broke his hand in a tournament in Cleveland this season. Doc said 8 weeks before it would be fully healed. I gave him SuperCissus and after 5 weeks the fracture was no longer visible on the xrays... Now perhaps Cissus had nothing to do with it...but perhaps it did.

They're alright for now. Hopefully it doesn't affect my planned HIIT tomorrow morning. Thanks dude. It should be going up over the next few weeks.

Yeah, I might have one next week if our schedules allow for it.

Damn that's a long "pause".

I would've liked it a little longer on the last set haha.

Thanks man. I completely missed that until you mentioned it. I definitely dropped my head. I think I started to relax a little too much, knowing it was the final rep.

Thanks bolt. I based the majority of today's workout on a Chad Smith article that I read a while ago. Yeah, I caught that as well. Should be an easy fix.

Thanks classic. The plan is to increase the weight along with the pause next week (7secs on all sets).

Yeah, it's an amazing supplement. I can't believe how effective it is for me.

I don't think I knew that your son played at that level; you must be proud of him. That's a nice surprise either way.

Another solid article on pause squats you may enjoy: Invalid Link Removed

Nice. Thanks bolt.

Here's what I was referring to. It includes a program that I basically did week one of today.

Ya good article...solid thing for those following this log to read. ;)

Yes, been at that level since the age of 11... he is turning 18 on the 18th... time flies.. and off to college next year.. Don't know what I'll do without my trips to the rink - almost like my escape from life..

Very proud, thanks man.

Midget AAA?

Dang man, I live in Cleveland and LOVE some hockey. I def would have been there

Some of the games were at the private school there.. can't remember the name but nice facility. And actually where he broke his hand.

Do you ever get out to see the Lake Erie Monsters?

Very cool. Best of luck to him. I don't know if he had a lot of 5am ice times, but my father definitely didn't miss taking me to those haha.

No problem man.

Maybe St. Edwards High School. They're the powerhouse around here

Sadly, I have not! No one wants to go with me, I'm about to say screw it and go by myself.

Well i'll chuck some supercissus in with my next buy up. Myabe it'll help me add some weight to the JM

Sounds good man. I think you'll be glad you did. There are a lot of tricep exercises that I can't do without it.

4/8/13

No gym today, but I started my morning with some HIIT:

-1/2 mile jog/warm-up

-1/8 mile intervals around the track x4 cycles (1 mile)

-50yd sprint intervals on field x5 cycles

-100yd sprint intervals on field x4 cycles

-13 hill sprints (until I collapsed going up the hill lol)

It's hard to tell by looking at the picture, but the hill is very steep...I'm beat.

Good stuff bro!

Solid work on the hill and springs. You follow a similar supplement protocol with this as you do with your weights?

NICE! That's my kind of HIIT session. If you don't puke or collapse, you didn't try hard enough.

Thanks brother.

Thanks bolt. Yeah, it was pretty similar. I woke up and had OEP (2 scoops), V-1, C20, 1g ALCAR, and 500mg Agmatine before heading to the field. I filled my shaker with ~1.5 scoops of MBCAA+ and had some before, mid, and at the end of my session. I had another scoop of OEP about an hour ago and will break my fast shortly. AP will be added before HIIT when it arrives.

NICE! That's my kind of HIIT session. If you don't puke or collapse, you didn't try hard enough.

It was brutal, but fun. I was dangerously close to throwing up as well :).

Yep, the hill sprints I did over the weekend killed me also. If you want to try something on the field, I love doing this:

Start at the end zone, sprint 10 yards, job back, sprint 20 yards, jog back, all the way until you get up to 100 yards and back. Absolutely murders me haha. Last summer I was going all the way up 100 yards, then start to climb back down (90, 80, etc). I've also done where you sprint the white lines (sideline to sideline), one on one off sprinting, the whole field down and back.

I bet. I wish my scenery was as nice as yours.

Thanks kbayne. That sounds like a great time :). I'd thought about doing 300 yd shuttle runs (25 yds x12). Maybe I'll do both.

That is just where I was that day haha. Where I am back at, nothing like where I was.

That is what I love about HIIT, you can do it with practically anything and anywhere :D

Yeah, I forgot about that haha.

I think I'll start doing some of my HIIT at the beach.

Do it! You will not be disappointed. Best joint support product that I have ever used.

Wow, must be nice to be that close to the beach. I've never even been to a beach :(

Never!?! It's awesome. I grew up with 5 beaches in my hometown and doubt I'd ever move away from the water. Nothing better than the beach and going out on boats in the summer.

In a few weeks I'll be starting some HIIT cardio. There's a high school track right across the street.

I swore I'd never run after my final college baseball game but given your success and my desire to be as shredded as you. I don't think I have a choice.

I went to a high school as well. The track and turf are pretty new, which was great.

Haha. I wouldn't call it a success at this point, but things are going in the right direction. My weight loss has definitely picked up since adding HIIT. I was 212lbs (-5lbs overall) this morning and am looking leaner.

Impressive HIIT workout Breezy.. like how your drained it on the hill...

Thanks wasme. Yeah, it took whatever energy I had left.

Ya, never haha. I want to go soooo bad. Boating in the summer is the sh!t.

You should try to plan a road trip to Cali this summer. Yes it is!

I've been to Cali once... Drove from Vegas to Reno then across to San Fran (then up and down the coast)... heaven on earth...

I'll be in Cali in June. Can't wait. I miss it. Where in Cali are you?

I'm about as far away from Cali as you can get....in Boston. I've actually never been there, but thought that's where the closest beaches to kbayne were located haha.
