Solution, all your recipes look just mouth watering. Btw I was looking for reviews about pumpkin pie flavor trutein on bb.com and your review came up. Thx you convinced me and now I'm changing my cinnabun which I love for the pumpkin pie and banana cream. Can't wait! ;)

Yeah they still put on a great show. Unlike Bouncing Souls. I saw them last month and they sucked, no energy. A punk band with no energy is like me at the gym with a hangover, worthless.

Damn that food looks good. And yeah, ny college caf is that bad. It's a decent sized state school in the poconos, d2 of course. Our food supplier is Aramark, some bs company that always thinks it's delivering healthy food. Unless I eat salad every damn day, variety of healthy food is extremely limited. Best thing there is deli meats on a roll compared to pizza, cheeseburgers, fries, chicken patty, and more bs

Look at my avi. Guess what show that was...
(It was at the house of blues in myrtle beach in October 2010)
Going to see them AGAIN on the 15th too. Also saw them in Milan, Italy in 2004-5? Come at me bro.

Deserved. You had a rough night of watching one of the best and longest lasting punk bands of all time. Along with Slayer, BR is #1 for me.

Mission accomplished ! ..... Got home and opened up my carryout and they gave me the one with tripe by accident . Tripe is nasty .. But I ate it anyhow . Now back to the couch to watch Hop for the 75th time with my 2 year old son

Man that looks good. I usually get my pho with brisket, tripe and flank steak

Never had Pho but have heard its awesome. I love different cuisine foods (indian, thai, mexican, chinese) got to try it sometime.

That's the one they gave me plus the meat balls. I like the brisket , flank meatball one the best. Tripe just doesn't make sense to me, grizzly and flavor and I don't think it has any healthy attributes

Definitely try Vietnamese food and explore the menu but try pho first. Great introduction. Viet food is also alot healthier then the other ethnic foods you listed so you may get addicted. It's my favorite and Thai comes second. I'm a Thai curry freak, love it!

If you love Thai and say Pho is right up that alley. im game!

It's no where near the same flavors, completely different style food but very fresh tasting and healthier in comparison. I don't consider viet food a cheat meal so much as I consider Thai curry a cheat. I eat Thai food I bloat right up. You seem open minded towards food so I'm sure you'll like it.

Cheeseburger and fries for sure. Or pizza. I love 5 guys and In-N-Out. The former is far over priced. I need 2 burgers to do it right. So at 5 guys that's almost $20 before fries and a drink. Homemade is by far the best, but you have to know how to do it. My culinary skills are pretty polished having worked in restaurants. I can make a burger at home that beats 5 Guys easy. No ego here, just fact. Chef Bobby Flay from the Food Network has a chain called Bobby's Burgers, yet none exist out here in Cali. I'm sure his burgers are definitley a 5 Guys destroyer and they may even be better than mine.

I really enjoy making homemade pizzas too, on a pizza stone in my oven.

If I lived in Chicago, my cheat days would be spent at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria or Giordano's Pizzeria. Google them and see what a real deep dish is about. Real deep dish is not thick crust. It's a butter laden crust slightly like a pie dough. It's thin, and the toppings are layered in like a pie. They deliver out to Cali via fed ex. I want to try that some time.

If you guys are french fry purists like me, here is something you have to try at least once. A homemade french fry recipe that will kill anything you've had in a restaurant or fast food place.

Perfect Thin and Crispy French Fries

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes (about 4 large), peeled and cut into 1/4-inch by 1/4-inch fries (keep potatoes stored in a bowl of water)
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 quarts peanut oil

  1. Place potatoes and vinegar in saucepan and add 2 quarts of water and 2 tablespoons of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil for 10 minutes. Potatoes should be fully tender, but not falling apart. Drain and spread on paper towel-lined rimmed baking sheet. Allow to dry for five minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in 5-quart Dutch oven or large wok over high heat to 400°F. Add 1/3 of fries to oil (oil temperature should drop to around 360°F). Cook for 50 seconds, agitating occasionally with wire mesh spider, then remove to second paper-towel lined rimmed baking sheet. Repeat with remaining potatoes (working in two more batches), allowing oil to return to 400°F after each addition. Allow potatoes to cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Continue with step 3, or for best results, freeze potatoes at least over night, or up to 2 months.
  3. Return oil to 400°F over high heat. Fry half of potatoes until crisp and light golden brown, about 3 1/2 minutes, adjusting heat to maintain at around 360°F. Drain in a bowl lined with paper towels and season immediately with kosher salt. Cooked fries can be kept hot and crisp on a wire rack set on a sheet tray in a 200°F oven while second batch is cooked. Serve immediately.

This post made me chuckle. You can make burgers at home better than 5 guys??? Good God I would hope so. There is nothing special about 5 Guys burgers. They may be better than McDs or BK's, but they can't come close to any burger that ANYBODY could make at home. And $20 for 2 burgers...seriously? That's about double what I've paid for them in Chicago, Dallas and NH. You are getting hosed at your local 5 Guys joint.

I think 5 guys does make a good burger. Far better than any of my friends could make. Out here they cost 8 and change. IMO, it does take some culinary wisdom to make a good one at home. :)

I'm in the suburbs right outside of ohare airport and you're right lou malnatis is a once a week thing when I'm not dieting! They also have a dessert cookie pizza that is topped w vanilla ice cream, whip cream, and chocolate sauce... It's one of my favorite desserts anywhere

I'm very curious to know from a local like you about the competition to Lou's. Have you tried any of the other deep dish places out there? I've heard from some people that there are places better than Lou's, which is hard to believe. Why there are no authentic deep dish places here in LA is beyond me. I made deep dish once at home and it was better than sex. It's a lot of work to make it though. I often wish I was in Chicago!

There is a lot of good pizza for sure but I am really a Lou's fan and there is only one other place I'd rather go and because it's different not better... It's called Chicago pizza and oven grinders and the way they make their pizza is awesome! Some other good places are:

Giordano's
Connies
Ginos East
Nancys
Pizzaria uno

I guess I really haven't been to that many... Maybe someone that knows of other good places can chime in. Oh and here is a pic of the Chicago pizza and oven grinders pizza....

Five Guys is 80/20 Meat that is rolled Fresh daily and we get 3 shipments a week of fresh meat, not like McDonalds or Burger king (Horse Meat) that is frozen and imported and full of preservatives, we are as fresh as it gets and prepped every single day. The reason the burger price is up there is because they do offer all of their toppings free of charge (which is factored into the cost of a burger) and we also offer extra cheese and bacon free of charge (yes i am a manager there as a part time job and have been for 3 years). Your paying more for quality for a fast food joint than you get at other fast food burger places. Not to mention it is cooked to order. I do think the prices are up there, but given the inflation of the US dollar over the last few years its not that bad. Dont get me wrong you can go to the store and buy 3-4lbs 80/20 meat for what 12-15$ and your own buns/cheese etc, and save yoruself some money, but its personal preference. I myself hate eating out and i dont even eat at five guys (ate there once even though i have been there for 3 years and get a free meal every shift)

I looked up that Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder place. It looks like quite a place! Never seen anything like that. Thanks.

I need a day job. Considering applying at the location down the street from me in Northridge, CA. Do you enjoy working there? I have a lot of respect for the place. I've read the story on the walls.

Its not a bad job, but the secret shopper bonus program provides incentives for good extra money.. Its totally up to you and if you enjoy the food industry. I am mostly a substitute teacher looking for a real teaching job.

A whole bag of blue corn chips with either hummus or guacamole!!! <3<3<3<3

Red hot blues are my favorite chip. I haven't seen them in any supermarket for some time though. Prolly a good thing cus I too will kill a whole bag with guac or spicy bean dip or both.

Ok I'm down here just outside of Savanah in Hardeeville SC and was lookin for some good food. Well there isn't **** but a few fast food joints and a Waffle House outside my hotel so I drive down the way and take a chance on this little Mexican joint with a lil dude out front with two smokers smelling like heaven. I ordered a half chicken for lunch with iffy expectations and OMFG if it isn't the best damn chicken ever. We spent the day in Savannah (beautiful ****in city) and only snacked because we wanted to come back and get this chicken. Sure enough 9 at night dude is still out there grillin like a boss. I ordered a whole chicken just now and we smashed that **** in minutes. I don't have a pic cus I ate it too fast but if you pass through this way you gotta go to this place and see if they're grillin out front

Never eating dry roasted wasabi flavored edamame again. I thought they were the regular edamame, so I reached in the bag, grabbed a handful and started chomping away... Within 2 seconds my whole mouth was on fire and I made a mad dash to the kitchen faucet to hose down my tongue. Never again.
