531 training

fundamentals

New member
Hi guys,

Ive been on the 531 training for about 5 week and I like it but I feel like I'm losing weight. I haven't changed much of my diet and I have only lost 1 kg but I feel smaller and not as pumped. I just came off a triangle and activate extreme stack which I didn't feel great on (low libido) oils this be a reason? Or am I not doing enough compared to my usual 4 day split with a lot more reps and sets?

i think its probably mostly mental, if you see a greater lost of weight or strength over a course of a month there might be an issue, but your body is probably getting use to 5/3/1. Since your doing a less intense workout in terms of reps and sets, you should be using less energy then you were using before.

Yeah I was thinking that. But when I do say a 4 day split I'm targeting one group at a time. I feel as though I'm getting a bigger pump and also I feel bigger.
It has been a month. I have lost a little bit of weight.. I know a lot of ppl use this method. Has anyone has size gains?

5/3/1 is one of the most popular and proven routine. So I would not blame the routine if you are doing it correctly. How has your strength been affected, are you moving up every week or stalling out, Feeling the "pump" rarely shows the quality of your workout. Since january, I put over 100lbs on my bench, squat and deadlifts and 20 on my frame and maybe felt the pump three times

I wouldn't worry to much about losing 2 pounds. I can take a crap and lose at least that much. Keep at it and try upping your calories and see if that helps.

If you're hitting your set reps for the prescribed weights in 531 and losing weight I'd say that's a positive. You've been on the program for 5 weeks, reign in your training ADD and keep at it. Wendler's programming is better than yours.

seriously? 1kg.

i will vary around 2kg during a week. i can vary 1kg during the day from morning to night. with the 100+ degree heat around here i can vary that much in a few hours due to working outside in this heat.

in other words, dont worry about it.

531 needs to be run for a long period of time to reap its benefits. Don't give up or be so anxious to switch so fast.
