More PR's!! Sorry john i just had to go for it xD I learned a ton of new stuff today that will help me with my shoulder issue and make me even stronger, this guy gave me one of his bands he uses for shoulder stretching it's AWESOME. That and today i was doing pull ups slow and controlled for lats which means i start and complete dead hang and slowly pull until my arms are bent at 90 degrees, squeeze the hell out of my lats and go back down. Had 4-5 sets of 6-8 reps, i'm seriously blowing up right now, I also am utilizing more nutritional advantages now meaning i cut out my fast food and lowered my sodium intake. Still at 245Lbs but i WILL have abs in the next month or so. I know i owe you guys pics i just want to give the space so the difference is dramatic haha

I'd say it depends on how fast your doing your reps, i have had the best results recently with sort of exploding to the top but with control, holding peak contraction for 1-2 seconds and lowering the weight for 5 or so seconds with a heavy weight getting 5-6 reps like that is like getting 12-20 reps in terms of time under tension. I still lift heavy but it's the heaviest i can control which is the key. I do like 3 working sets with the heaviest i can. The final working set my final rep i lower the weight for a count of 10-20 just to finish it off. For legs i wouldn't do it except with maybe leg extensions, leg curls or calve raises since it'd be pretty dangerous with a squat or leg press unless you're brave! I emphasize the negative with each rep which i think is what really gets you the MOST muscle growth/strength wise out of each weight.
 
id have to agree with tiny...more and more research is showing time under tension to be the biggest thing..... so however u get that, and also fast twitch muscles have the most ability to grow so i say be explosive on the concentric with a strong peak contraction so u get that mind muscle connection adn squeee that blood in there and take the eccentric very slow!

very simple
1-6 for strength
6-12 reps for hyper trophy
after 12-15 more endurance

a few exceptions and my opinions
quads can go up to 15 in my opinion
upper body for putting on the most mass 6-8 reps
hamstrings 4-8 reps

Nick, thats great you ser another PR. Hey i am all for PR's. I cant do them every workout because I have to hold myself back sometimes and am okay manitaining some times. there is a time and place for everything and you will know when it is, your 6th sense will let you know , many times , right before the workout or even right before it the set, youll know that to do -trust it

your welcome and feeel free to train in the 1-3 rep range for 2-4 weeks , once or twice a year, if your body can handle it. I couldnt this year because of injuries, yet if I could have I would have. It really can increase your strength when you go back to hypertrophy training. (and also give you a thicker denser look)

Dude it is seriously the best way to train, just keep your form good ESPECIALLY on smaller bodyparts like arms where any slight trace of cheating is robbing you of stimulation. I see consistent gains now for the first time ever!!

I literally had that happen today!! During stiff legged i went a little heavier and "felt" it in my back so i backed off and went light with the bottom stretch of the SLDL emphasized on my hamstring wow it was AWESOME. There's certain exercises i'm careful on so i don't risk injury. As long as i can maintain slow and controlled form i will try but if it doesn't work i set it down simple as that! Perfect example was on 1 arm db rows i tried 215 and it didn't feel right so i dropped the weight and did 185 again but better than last week for more reps and sets! Instinctive training is ESSENTIAL for a bodybuilder otherwise you will end up injured and out of commission for weeks or even months.

It works seriously that well, i use a weight i can get 6-8 reps with but with 4 second negatives so literally to the "average" rep your getting like 4-5x the tension with a HEAVIER weight it's honestly fool-proof in my opinion.

That's one rep range i can't handle too well, i did ATG squats today and tried 315 and got 2 reps but even doing them slow i felt like i didn't "stimulate" my legs enough. I've always been a 5+ rep kinda guy :)

My back looks pretty much the same, plus i need to redo the pose cause i wasn't leaning enough. It's definitely stronger and over the next month since my training is tweaked it should look a lot different :D
 
looks like improvements to me. shoulders arms are standouts, overall you have the size.

Thanks man, started training everything super strict and with emphasized negatives. Those muscles were the first to start growing! :)

Not like it'll be a shocker or anything but i don't train abs directly, LIke when i do pull ups i keep everything tight as well with squats. Last time i trained abs directly my obliques popped out too much i didn't like :( I do ALOT of vacuum posing practicing now though so by the time i'm lean it'll be second nature!

Today was the absolute best shoulder/arm workout i isolated everything PERFECTLY, finally figured out how to isolate tri's on close grip, i apply slight outward pressure on the bar and keep tension on JUST my tri's nothing else not delt or chest. To test it you should NOT have a shoulder or chest pump if you do it right and your tri's will be contracting into a ROCK! Did absolutely perfect concentration curls with 35lb db for 8 reps with 3-4 second negatives. It's funny i brought up my arms/shoulders now to where they are overpowering my chest/back. Goes to show you with Excellent form and isolation you can bring up ANY bodypart if you focus hard enough!!
 
WOW WTH IS WITH THIS HUNGER?!?! I swear i'm eating a small woman and child every few hours and i just can't stop eating. My body literally tells my brain, give me some food to build this MUSCLE COMMON! I am turning into a rock all my muscle are full i am getting vascular for the first time in my life and i actually have a little bit of a freakish look going. Strict training has to be one of the best things I've ever done for my splits. I avoid locking out and squeezing the muscle through the entire range. For the first time tomorrow i will do flat barbell bench press with full concentration on my chest without my shoulder bothering me. I squeeze the bar together and put my ring finger on the ring on the bar. I then apply pressure INWARD instead of outward like on close grip for tri's, this helps me put all that tension on my chest the ENTIRE time with no rest meaning i get an insane time under tension and can confidently leave the bench with 100% certainty my chest is going to grow.

THis to me is the difference between bodybuilding and weight lifting:

Bodybuilding is the act of intentionally training an individual muscle with focus on concentration of contractions, form and with a less emphasis on weight to increase the growth of targeted muscle.

Weightlifting is the act of intentionally training for power and strength through the act of intentionally using concentration on moving maximum weights for single repetitions.

There for a bodybuilder is not a weightlifter as much as an intelligent, focused individual with the sole purpose of sculpting his body into what he or she believes is perfection.

Upped my volume on chest and stopped a little short of failure to see how it will react. DId a new type of shrug to try and develop that "diamond" shape in my traps. I sit on a bench and do 1 arm shrugs with my other hand on my neck/trap insertion and make sure i am contracting THAT muscle. I'm also going to be doing high rep up right rows with traps emphasis. I have an ENTIRE game plan to hit all those muscles i want to :D

veru nice looks like bodybuilding is working out well for you and you responded well to training and eating and most of these hardgainers as they like to call themselves would if they got their nutrition together

Thanks :) Yeah it's taken some time but i believe if you just keep trying and never give up you will find exactly what you want. Most people just don't want to dedicate the time.

Exactly, i mean i did gain some weight but i never let it get so insane that i was like a wobbling lard. My chest/back are still wiped out from yesterday! Lower back is feeling close to 100%, going to do light SLDL's for stretching tomorrow and then do squats again. I really gotta get some knee wraps though. HGHpro is epic as hell i love this stuff!!

Time to start growing again!!! Chest is already bigger it's making my shoulders look small so i have everything lined up perfectly. This year is going to be insane i look different EVERY week cause i have that combination finally. My legs are looking massive hamstrings still improving. My most muscular is looking more and more crazy!!

I don't even care how lofty this goal is but i am going to put my heart and soul to try and achieve this level of size this year.

sweet Nick. Youve got it brother. I used to train at The Olympus when i lived in murefreesboro and I saw him in his offseason and he was a monster. I wonder if he would recongize my face if he saw me, haha. I dont think he bulks up like that anymore, this was in 2007, think he might stay leaner, IDK

Thats so badass! I think Brandon Curry is the future of bodybuilding, if he just get's in a little bit better conditioning with slightly bigger legs he should win because he will be proportioned, conditioned and huge! I saw the pre juding individuals for the Arnold this year on MDTV and dude they all looked sick as hell, Lionelle Beke (not sure how to spell his name) was literally like 99% complete i think he just needed conditioning his posing is epic as well. That's gotta be awesome seeing him progress man hopefully someone will be saying that about me in the future :)

youve got to go to extreme measures to look like that. Something I am not willing to do due to risks involved. You can look better than most people in general without taking them risks (or even using hormonals)

That's exactly what makes me so apprehensive about it :( That's why i figure i'll just keep at it and back off time to time to recover and slowly make my way to wherever i may get. I will just give it some time, you could tell i was post-workout jacked up in that post haha i love it!

Slower and steadier is my favorite way. how old are you? You are young and are in front of a lot of people as it is as far as the muscle race. You have plently of time

I got the 3rd bottle of HGHpro in today as well! Today was the first day in a longggg time i slept in and i actually had to wake up JUST to slam a shake because i was so damn hungry.

I wonder what would be good to stack DAA with? Stoked or Testopro? More than likely stoked since i have not logged it but i do plan to take a month off from boosters and such after this month (Still using DAA) I think May would be perfect we will see.

Weight this morning was 248Lbs! Leaner, i'm slowly getting there. My appetite has been just so ridiculous so trying to control how much i eat is tricky. I'll get there one day at a time!

Thanks for the compliment John, i would post my workouts but lately i just go in and do what feels right. Weights slowly go up but if i dont feel it i just skip it. I just put all-out effort in so i don't have a bad session.

Had an epic chest/back session, focused more on width meaning the small upper armpit muscles like the teres by shrugging my shoulders and pulling into a "front relaxed" pose position. Did higher reps and kept the weights close to the same, i am entering another growing phase meaning i'm going to jack up my calories for this week. Appetite just keeps soaring and soaring so i'm gonna feed myself if i put on a little fat this week i don't care cause i'll be 100% by next week. This week i'm sticking with the same weights and aiming more for a pump or more reps. Shoulders and arms it worked AMAZING, so well that i will probably keep my reps a little higher for them. Chest is blowing up again, decline FTMFW!

Yeah i love it, a lot of people are too afraid to there though because they feel awkward but i just don't care and smash out most musculars and such!

jsut want to reitterate how jealous i am haha, keep it up brotha!!!

All it takes is an iron will and determination! Plus i enjoy every second of it :D Trained shoulders/arms today went up in weights slightly kept reps 12+ on everything, literally went from 15Lb x 50 seated db laterals to 30lb x 30 and 35 x 20 (small cheat towards end) Keeping rep ranges STARTING at 10-20 reps and for calves/forearms up to 50. Certain exercises like behind the neck i will do 20 reps or so considering i do not want to load up a ton of weight for those exercises and injure myself. More new stretch marks on arms/lats/chest ohhh boy i love it haha. Getting a lot of nice compliments from people at work they say i'm probably one of the only people making steady consistent progress makes me feel really good! Also helping out a lot of people they are all starting to come to me for advice and i and reluctant to help. I really feel like i've grasped the correct concept of bodybuilding now and it's already evident 3 weeks into this training style this is the bread and butter.

I'm getting pic's up the end of this week for you all!

This is by far my favorite style ever, i can use lighter weights but put it on the targeted muscle and get more out of it, it's like super-efficient training! I was thinking you disappeared man!

I believe that 12-15 is the best because most people blast through reps for like 1 second each rep and 12-15 if your going at a medium speed tempo seems the best but the key is to feel the muscle you want to grow, for example bench press squeeze your hands inward the entire time, i bet you will be weaker but your chest will feel pumped even after warming up with just the BAR.

My opinion this is the best program for building muscle ever constructed, it's intense as shyt too i tried it today!

The thing is i have incorporated the techniques into my training without really changing what i'm doing.
