Testosterone drop from overtraining?

I currently lift 3-4 days a week and train mma 4-5 times a week. About this time last year i was 205 lbs ( i never worked out, was fat and ate horrible as well as smoked way too much weed) I am now 5"8 and 141 lbs and 21 years old.

Even though I've added muscle, lost a ton of fat, cut down on marijuana and tremendously cleaned up my eating habbits, I feel like im not seeing the results I should at 21 years old, I also have very little interest in sex.

I have heard from a few people all of these things can contribute to a low Testosterone level. I know there are a lot of mixed reviews on natural testosterone booster such as T bomb II, but I decided to pick up a bottle and give it a try.

Does anybody have any info that could help me out?

Get a blood test. No other way about it. Don't start T Bomb II until you have bloodwork. However, basing your judgment of low T solely on body composition is a very poor idea; are you truly symptomatic?

Deff. get the blood work done before you do anything. Dropping money on a supplement and continuing to do what your doing may just cause way more harm then good. When was the last time you took 2-4 weeks off? I mean completely off besides functional stretching/yoga/walking.

Other than the low sex drive and not seeing much progress in terms of muscle gain and fat loss( stuck around 15%)i dont have alot of the other symptoms. I will get a blood test before trying anything supplement wise.

Could it be that i just need to give my body time to re adjust? Its only been one year since i dropped all the weight, and a month or so after cutting out marijuana. I have been monitoring my nutrient intake for about 6 months.

I just feel with the amount of training i do, my age, and the way i eat ( i strictly monitor my protein carbs and fat) i should be seeing way better results. Cutting back on training is not an option as i am going to start fighting soon.

Yes blood work will give you a start. Always keep a doc on your side. Cause it could be anything that is making you have those symptoms like life stress, not enought rest time, over training and just plan old bad habits. But yeah first thing first get blood work and just do some relaxing things that should help some.

Low sex drive and body composition issues are symptoms of low T yes, but they are also symptoms of overtraining as you said. Correct the cause: your training and diet. You lost over 60 lbs in a year. It's not unreasonable to assume that you are undereating for your training regimen; once you get to a point where adiposity is at a minimum and you are STILL hypocaloric amidst a grueling training regimen, low sex drive and difficulty building muscle manifest themselves. In other words, you can keep doing what you're doing, but you've lost more than enough weight; now it is time to get hypercaloric again.

Create a 300-500 calorie daily surplus (don't use online calculators. you are very active. use a conservative estimate and re-evaluate from week to week until you know your maintenance)
1g protein/lb BW
0.55g fat/lb BW (more than I usually recommend, but your hormones may be out of wack from your dieting)
Fill the rest with carbs...this should amount to a LOT of carbs and will help you out with your activity level

Monitoring your diet does not mean it is good. Hell, I'd even incorporate weekly refeeds on a BULK in your specific scenario.

Thank you. Exactly what i was looking for. I think i may be under eating. Although i stopped the caloric deficits, i havnt been trying for a surplus. i think ive been eating just around my maintenance level ( around 2,600) After so many months of trying to lose weight i think my head was stuck in that mindset. Ill be sure to get a blood test and try eating more.

Make sure you adhere to the macronutrient guidelines I mentioned as well. Many people will go on a low fat diet when cutting, which can hamper hormone levels. Thankfully, this is reversible if you become more conscious of your intake.

Do you still get those tests done every now and then? Is that gunna be like a forever thing? Bloodwork for life, at least you know whats goin on :o

I've been eating around 150 grams of protein, and about 60 to 70 grams fat. I aim for 200 grams carbs but often go under.Do you mean per BW as in target weight or current weight?

Do you suggest i eat 141 grams of protein?

Yeah man, far less frequently though. My condition is improving and I'm pretty much asymptomatic besides *cough* body composition, but I guess our gainz are never enough for any of us :D

Your calories are very low for your activity level. You are currently eating 1985 calories while lifting 3-4 days a week and training MMA 4-5 days per week.

For now, I recommend going all the way up to 2500 calories a day. The numbers I gave you are minimums. Consume anywhere from 141-180g protein, 70-80g fat, and 280-320g carbs.

Appreciate my dude. Btw, looking swole in the new avi!

For a bulking diet, 300g carbs is really not a lot. There seems to be a lot of carb-phobia; yes it is a nonessential macronutrient, but it certainly has its benefits in a fitting scenario. Look at OP's lifestyle. He needs a direct fuel source because he is undergoing "two-a-days" a few times a week, and MMA + weight training in one day can be quite difficult and energy-consuming (I'm assuming that these are 1.5 hour+ training sessions). Just like any other athlete with a proper nutritional plan, the base of his diet should be carbohydrates.

Weight training is a different matter. Your body can store a LOT of glycogen and depletion is not a concern if you take training fequency and refeed frequency into account. That is why your recreational bodybuilder can get away with less carbs. Either way, I see no reason to fear carbs; they are a direct fuel source, protein-sparing, and rich in micronutrients, all of which are not essential but definitely HELPFUL in anyone's diet.

I was actually refering to using your recommendations for myself. It would put me at about 450g plus carbs a day. I powerlift so maybe lower the fats and increasing the carbs would be good. idk.

Thanks amigo, slow and steady bulking, tis the season for cutting tho :D

Hey, at least you didn't dirty bulk like I did. And with this weekend having an Alesso/Ingrosso concert on Thursday, grand opening of a club on friday, and the annual State Patty's Day on Saturday, cutting progress = reversed

What is your goal right now? If bulking, I'd do a 10-25% caloric surplus with 1-1.2g protein/lb LBM, 0.45g fat/lb BW, and use the rest of the calories are you wish, with the majority going to carbs.

I also have some lower belly fat that I've been struggling to get rid of. Do you think by following those macronutrient guidelines and focusing more on building muscle, the fat will go away? I dont want to lose anymore weight, Id just like to see my abs basically. Thats why i think i have still been partially stuck in a caloric deficit mind set.

At your bodyweight, it's time to start putting on muscle. The stubborn lower abdominal fat is present at most BF% ranges until you get very lean, but when you achieve that level of leanness with your current LBM, you won't be too pleased with the end result. Also, I'd be more concerned with your overall health at this point, and would encourage you to slowly increase your calories to the level I mentioned.

Alright that makes sense. Thanks again man. Big help

Naw it was pretty dirty I just beat the **** out of myself to make up for it :D

Just pay your dues in the gym amigo, focus on what needs to be done not what has been

Alot of times and to most men belly fat is the last thing to go. You can try a diuretic it may help with that lil water weight you may be holding in your belly core its just overall body composition

Always bulkings. That would be 4000 cals. 220g pro, 100g fat, and like 580+ carbs haha

Wait, the weed should help with sex drive....just sayin. (hope I don't get banned for that)

Like everyone else said, a blood test is a good idea. you may just have naturally low testosterone as well.... the overtraining could play a role, but your diet may be nutrient deprived as well
