whats your winter mod plans. i just got off the phone with my builder and im punchin out my 96" to 107", also having some head work etc. done. so my pathetic 65 horse power harley come next spring will be pushing 120hp and close to the same in tq. much much better. then its on to the brakes

Just broke down the bike this weekend. Taking the forks in to be resealed and new tires put on the rims. Then I'm adding in a fan switch mod, new front rotors, replacing some bad exhaust gaskets, new brakes and possibly putting in a clear billet clutch cover (if money is there to do so). Sucks going out in my garage and seeing my bike in pieces on the stands.

and apparently I'll be installing a Rifleman's 1/5 throttle insert as well as I just won one. The TLR is going to be retarded fast this summer...

Love my TLR. To bad some F*cking women hit my bike (parked) in a parking garage at work.

This winter will be a rebuilding season. Fixing the fairings and a couple other things on the bike.

Nice to meet another TLR owner. The guy I'm getting my throttle insert from is from the Chicago area and this summer we are supposed to go down to Deals Gap. You should join us.

Keep me in mind. I should be done with the bike by spring/summer. :13:

i love tlr's. even though im on a hd now i was a sport bike enthusiast up until 2010. my last bike being 08 busa. wife begged me to get rid of it if i couldnt ride it like a normal person. but who the hel! buys bikes with upwards of 200hp to ride normally lol? ill buy another busa in the future after ive settled dwon a bit on the hd. that could be a problem though as i talked to my builder again and for not much more money i can punch to 117" with some serious bottom end work and get 135hp to the tire. i see brembo calipers in my future to slow this beast down

bikes do get expensive. I've only had my TLR since September and have put new NGK iridium plugs in it, K&N filter, modded the airbox, put in a TRE, on top of the things I listed above for my winter projects. Want to get it up on a dyno pretty soon to see how many BHP its putting out.

bulldog: dont know where your from, but there is a 2002 TLR for $3500 close to where I live.

im just north of nyc. i wish i had a few grand to grab one but the motor and brake work is gonna run me about $10k. i dont think the wife would approve of another bike right now after this upgrade expense.

and yeah... modding a bike never ends. its an expensive habit

hopefully get the bitch repainted in a few months and put on my new gas tank and handlebars... thats about it... rest of its done. the lexus red paint needs redone since I ride my **** everywhere its got plenty of battlescars from the road on the front fender and my current handlebars hit my gas tank and left nice lil marks... will stick with the same color, just gotta pull it apart to repaint.

what are you riding

custom chopper... redneck engineering frame, PM controls, PM wheels, custom tin, TP 121" motor...

From Ohio in Florida now... Ride all year around... No snow=all go :hump:

I'm gonna take a couple of tests and "mod" my license so I can ride bigger than 125cc 12hp!

New bike in the spring - thinking CBR600, Bandit 600 or GSXR600 :bigok:

Damn ambulldog that things gonna be a beast when you get all that motor work done. Wish I had the coin to pump up my 88 a little more but that's gonna have to wait. I did my bars last year and this year I only have a few cosmetic changes planned, 2 inch tank lift and wrapping my pipes trying to make my dyna look a little more old school

i was gonna go a little bigger but the guy promised me serious hp and tq with the build. so instead of going bigger im sinking what would have gone for more power into the brakes. im all about performance and i dont mean just big power. its gotta be streetable, have good power, handle well and freakin stop. did front and rear suspension stuff last year so this year its power and brakes. i see too many cruiser guys out there with power they cant use other than a straight line and also cant haul in that power cause they skimped on the brakes.

New here, I ride a VTX 1800. It's a fun bike, have had it since 2008. But I will own a new Vmax if its the last thing I do. Have ALWAYS wanted a Vmax...couldn't find one when I was in the market in '08...The VTX worked out nicely at the time, but still want a Vmax!

I'll post up pics when I have 50 posts. If there's something I have, its a ton of pictures of the motorcycle lol.

Bike pics? I hear ya! Proud of my 08 Kawi 1600 Mean Streak!

Winter mods? Hell, I dunno... I need to find somewhere to refinish my pipes. They're black ceramic, no heat shields, and the pipes are rusting through the coating. I need to get them off, sandblasted, and have them either recoated in ceramic or possibly a high-temp powdercoating, but I have no idea where to get that done. Stinks because I REALLY love these pipes. Custom shop, and they aren't made anymore.

Oh man, those Mean Streaks look bitchin! Do you have one of the matte black one's with the pin striped flames?!? So badass!

Here's the pics of my VTX:

i saw a VMax at the gym the other day, hadnt seen one in years.. that is a bad bike!

If memory serves me correct, their 0-60 is around the same as a Busa. Either way, a true street menace.

No work planned yet for me. I'm still riding. It was 63 degrees yesterday in Missouri. That's about 30 degrees higher than normal. Temps look good for at least the next week as well. I hope it stays like this.

I do need to fix my turn signals though.

yeah the 1800's are torqueyu as hell!!

vmax is sweet too...

my bike will hang with a busa till 60... then its like I dropped anchor.

Thanks! No, mine isn't the flat/stripe one. I have the last year of it, Diablo Metallic black with persimmon red frame/wheels/shaft. Cosmetically, she's a good bit from stock right now. Pic of "The Wicked Streak":

One from before I had the seat redone. Stock seat was red/black. Mine is now all black with red hotrod flames stitched in. (Also scooped and gel insert. Yay custom work!!)

So far, no motor work done to mine. One of these days, I'll finish out the big 3 with an intake and PCIII, but I'm not in a huge rush. She's not the fastest of the "Power Cruiser" segment, but she does have the best brakes and the only thing to out handle a Meanie is the V-rod! :D But, in lieu of the speed, I have 2 things that I always keep in mind:

1. If I'm going fast, you can't see how awesome my bike is. :D
2. Stock vs. Stock, or Stock vs. Stage 2, a Stock Meanie will beat all Stock Harleys and up to Stage 2 Harleys in a race. V-rod, not included...but then again, most HD folks don't consider that a real Harley anyway! lol Liquid-cooled FTW!!!

It's an 18. Torque monster! Still want a Vmax though...

Very nice VTX! I do like the looks of them, and there are a good many factory variations to fit individual styles. Love the blue on yours, too. Are those stock pipes? They kinda kick like HardKrome K2's. Lookin good!

That is a SICK bike T-AD...

750 Honda Shadow checking in...no pics on this PC but it catches a lot of compliments, still looks brand new, very well taken care of...candy red with lotsa chrome and a few cosmetic mods...as for winter mods, none...there is barely a winter here in south louisiana. It's been like 70-80 the past few days, lol. Though sometimes it is too cold, but not too often. :)

@T-AD
That Mean Streak is RIDICULOUS!! I love the color combo and the little things like the seat, grips, and the flames on the frame, I almost got the Metzlers too, but got a hook up on the Avons. I'll admit when I was looking for mine, I was looking for a Mean Streak, VTX, Triumph Rocket III, or a Yamaha Warrior. The VTX came up first and I loved the color...a couple months after I got it, the dealership got a Rocket III, and it was 2 grand cheaper than the VTX...but, no sense in dwelling on the past.

My pipes are Vance & Hines Bigshots, they are similar to the HK, in fact I almost went with the HK 3" big straights, but I think it would have looked silly with the pipes going out past the rear tire.

Thanks, man! I do get quite a few compliments on the paint. Most don't believe that it's stock, but it is. My only gripe is that they didn't clearcoat the red!! Ugh... It cleans up well enough, though. Seeing that I have nearly no chrome on it, I wax the entire thing (short of the engine) a few times a year and it stays quite nice. I'm a cleaning freak, and it's not uncommon for me to detail the thing. Usually over the winter, I'll take 5-6 hours just to do the TANK!! lol (Process: Clean, dry, Ultimate Compound, ScratchX, cleaner wax, Gold Class or better wax - 2 coats with atleast a day's drying time inbetween. All Meguiars products.)

When I went looking for a bike, the Meanie was the only one that I had in mind. I sat on a Vstar 1300, but it just didn't feel right. I sat on a big M109R and it was just way too bulky, eventhough the size of it was more a match to my size. The Meanie just felt comfortable to me. My dad has a Nomad and was always a Kawi guy, so that's where I went and I'm glad that I did. 3 years riding so far, and the bike has about 24,000 miles on it. Yeah... I like it. ;)

Your pipes do look nice, and I bet they do have a good sound to 'em! The big straights look ok, and the bigger pipes would look good on yours, but sticking way out is definitely a disadvantage of 'em. When I looked for pipes, I wanted something more unique. I almost went with HK Sideburners, but don't like how far the big turnout sticks out. The ones I have are Fuggin Fabrications "Hellions". Little bit of baffle in them, but otherwise just a curved straightpipe. No heat shields on 'em, either. The noise? Yeah... I drown out most Screamin' Eagles now, but since they aren't tiny little 1.5" pipes (they're 2.5" with 3" ends, solid pipes), it's more like a drag car. Low rumble at idle, plenty of growl when I get on it. And yeah, I have set off car alarms!!!! :D Only problem is that they are rusting through the ceramic, and the company went under so I'm on my own to deal with it. I'll probably sand them down and recoat them with header paint this year just as a cheap fix. In the future, I may seek out a high-temp powdercoat or send them off to JetHott to get re-ceramic'ed. (<-- yeah, cause that's a word!)

Only rough part about a Meanie is finding aftermarket parts. There is a TON of stuff for the VTX, Vstars, and other bikes in the class, but not much for a Meanie. So, when in doubt, make it! The flame plates on the frame - hand made. The radiator cover - custom laser cut stainless steel (painted black), my design. The side mount for the license plate, custom. Do whatchya gotta do, ya know? lol

Oh, and by the by, at night, the "Wicked Streak" becomes the "Hot Streak". At last count, 156 LEDs on it, alternate red and amber. It glows like an ember in the dark. :D

FZR 600 fighter. "Jezebel" Dirty ol street rat, gonna clean her up. She is a headache and a half.........

Planned mods this winter, and the next year, lol.....:

-R6 rear shock
-USD forks
-Swingarm swap......debating on a few different options. I dont know if I want to go SSSA or braced GSXR 750.....FZR 400....something like that.
-paint
-rims and tires for respective suspension
-most likely a top end rebuild

this and that.

Everything has been torn down for grinding, cleaning and paint....... so there's not much to take a pic of. I'll post pics when **** starts getting mocked up.

Cool. Gotta love doin' work!

Question for ya... Orleanyte? As in New Orleans? If so, have you ever seen a 'club' riding around down there that's called the "Kings of Khrome"? They're an MC. If you are from there and if you ever do, catch the back patch design - skull with a crown and flames. I designed it. :)

Yeah man, born in raised in New Orleans. I;m over in p-cola now. I'll keep an eye out for 'em, I'm in NO pretty often.

Oh yeah man, for sure, the pipes are considerably loud, the only complaint most 1800 owners have is the two pin crank...it gives it more of a "car-like" sound and less like a v-twin...I could care less because its obnoxiously loud, in fact, My wife's mustang is loud and my truck is loud too, I suppose its how we roll lol. I would have loved to have some swept pipes like yours, but there just aren't any for the VTX...supposedly Morton's is making some and I think Wicked Bros has some similar but pricey pricey.

I hear ya on making your own stuff, there's something gratifying about that...I had to do some custom work to open up the back tire, the rear fender had all this plastic garbage hanging for the license plate and inspection, I dont' know if this link will come up, but its all the crap I had to do to remove it: Invalid Link Removed*

When you did your LEDs, did you have to use any type of load equalizer, or just wire it inline with other lights on the bike?

The LED bodykit? I just wired it straight to the battery. There's a small 3amp fuse inline there, and I'm running it to a small controller box for the remote. (It's just on/off.... for now!) If you're looking for a good place to buy, Invalid Link Removed has a great selection. I am running the Stingerz variety of LED strips in LAVA. Bought a kit big enough to light up a Goldwing and added a few more strips from there. :)

I plan on lights for next year..doing the HID conversion to my headlamp and putting in some angel eyes with some body accent lights. I pulled the bike apart this winter and replaced all the exhaust gaskets, new front rotors, new brakes all around, installed a custom fan switch so I dont have to wait for the therm to kick the fans on (saves my nuts), new tires, rebuilt the forks, and added in a throttle insert that lets me go wide open throttle at a fraction of what the throttle turn was before.

Damn, you've been busy! I bet those new brakes feel good, would love to see the finished product when all those light are installed.

Yeah, it took me about 12 hours of work to get all of that done, but now that it is done, the thing runs like a monster.

ewwww... lights... the ghey!!!! serious. no disrespect but first thing when I see LED's = POSER. Guess Im just old school.

HA!! To each their own, man. I've seen a LOT of bikes in my area with lights on them, but a lot are just a few under the tank to light up the engine area. To me, that's not "done right". When I started thinking about what I wanted on mine, I knew that I had to go big. Once I did and got to see the finished product, I'm happy that I did it. Yeah, it's cosmetic, but for the theme of my bike, it definitely fits. Plus, at night, the more visible you are, the better!!

For me, having an all black bike with hardly any chrome on it (which will eventually go away anyway), I'm pretty dark at night. I took the reflectors off of mine, not that it's legal to do, but because I didn't like the look of them! Yellow reflectors on a black/red bike? Nah... lol Even when I'm parked, I park somewhere lit and always use the "park" setting at the key. It keeps the tail and plate lights on. (Plate lights, by the by, are 6 superwhite LEDs, too!)
