I thought it just hinders the bodys usage of turning long chain stored fatty acids into energy because there is another ready source available. I know you can maintain blood sugar levels and help keep insulin down so you can burn fat. Theoretically

I know coconut oil is good for the stomach, skin, digestive system and energy.

DAY 13

Had a boring day at work and a doctors appointment today. Turns out it was nothing she said - which I am glad that she said :D
Dosing is still @ 18caps but on Thursday I will drop down to 15/day and the week after that 12/day

Decided to witch things up a bit today in the gym so I went and hit Shoulders and Legs.

  • Seated Over Head BB Press: 5sets of 140 x 5
  • Squats: 5sets of 200 x 5 (Nursing my knee and lower back)
  • Seated Military DB Presses: 4sets of 60 x 8
  • SLDL's: 4sets of 245 x 8
  • Toe Raises: 4sets of 220 x 8
  • DB Side Laterals: 3sets of 30's x 12,10,8
  • Leg Press: 3sets of 220 x 12,10,8

Felt strong on shoulders. Legs not so much since I have been nursing my knees and lower back for a month now. Numbers on squat and SLDL's have dropped pretty much :( Well I'll have to get them back up asap and start killing it again ;)

Diet has been kept on point and I am liking what I see in the mirror every morning :o

Hmmm interesting, gotta read up on that I guess :D

Sounds logical now that you point it out so I guess you are right :)
Hmm.. I gotta look into this some more :D

Sounds like a good update. Recomping effects. :)

I can't wait to run some!!
So far small recomping effects can be noticed, hopefully it will continue even though I will start dropping
the dose slowly ;)

Ah. Heheh kool.

I'm starting at a lower dose. Sigh. Ordering in a couple days. Hopefully it gets here in about 2 weeks. That's when the ultimate cut starts.

Yup... sorry I wasnt meaning that it increased blood glucose or anything like that, I meant exactly what you described, that Its more readily used as a fuel source, like carbs, and while on a keto you want to be burning the long chain acids and not so much the ones your putting in instead... it defeats the entire purpose of ketosis.

I personally know of the many benefits it holds from reading... but thats all I know about it, what Ive read, as I have yet to try it for myself.

Ah, then yes it does "interfere" with ketosis. But then so would eating almost anything. The MCTs, once in Ketosis, will serve to be fuel sources for workouts, or just basic calories in general when trying to keep carbs to almost nill, and protein at a base level (as to not kick you out of ketosis via gluconeogenesis, or to spike insulin)

I am king of the keto, Its what I've used to drop weight numerous times most notable from 300-200 lbs in two months(see pics in my log) I haven't read up on mct's but if they are not metabolized like carbs I am not sure they will knock you out of keto. I used the keto sticks religiously and turned them dark purple every time. The only way to be sure is to get into ketosis and use the keto sticks, add the MCT's and see if you cease to turn them purple. I'd be interested to find out

DAMN...

I wish I could remember where I JUST READ... a guy using his keto stick added MCT's and couldnt figure why he wasnt getting a good reading on his Keto sticks any more.... did some reading and one of the guys whos written a diet book... cant remember which either now... stated it will knock you right outta ketosis..

shoot... im goin on a post hunt... ill find it for you guys...

ya I cant find it... I thnk the book he referenced was lyle mcdonalds... so if someone has it maybe they can do a quick serach through and find where he talks about MCT's...

Wish I could find the post about the guys personal exp with keto sticks to prove it...

According to this the exact opposite is true, according to this article eating MCT's allow you to eat more carbs and remain in ketosis

[h=3]MCT diet[/h]

Invalid Link Removed (MCT) oil emulsion

In the 1960s, it was discovered that Invalid Link Removed (MCTs) produce more ketones per unit of energy than normal dietary fats (which are mostly long-chain triglycerides).[SUP]Invalid Link Removed[/SUP] MCTs are more efficiently absorbed and are rapidly transported to the liver via the Invalid Link Removed rather than the Invalid Link Removed.[SUP]Invalid Link Removed[/SUP] The severe carbohydrate restrictions of the classic ketogenic diet made it difficult for parents to produce palatable meals that their children would tolerate. In 1971, Peter Huttenlocher devised a ketogenic diet where about 60% of the calories came from the MCT oil, and this allowed more protein and up to three times as much carbohydrate as the classic ketogenic diet. The oil was mixed with at least twice its volume of skimmed milk, chilled, and sipped during the meal or incorporated into food. He tested it on twelve children and adolescents with intractable seizures. Most children improved in both seizure control and alertness, results that were similar to the classic ketogenic diet. Gastrointestinal upset was a problem, which led one patient to abandon the diet, but meals were easier to prepare and better accepted by the children.[SUP]Invalid Link Removed[/SUP] The MCT diet replaced the classic ketogenic diet in many hospitals, though some devised diets that were a combination of the two.[SUP]Invalid Link Removed[/SUP]

A small part of this page on the keto diet...a very interesting read but too long to post here Invalid Link Removed

what was ur protein like on keto?
What do you mean, it was pretty much my entire diet, I ate whatever meat chicken and fish I wanted. Not shellfish though they actually contain carbs though, not a lot. Whey is fine but you need to be wary of the carb content

ya.... I was doing further research back into it trying to find my original reference I was reading the use of MCT diets in epileptic children was very effective and allowed them a greater variance in their diet with more greens able to be consumed and even some wheat based breads... and still remain in ketosis... IDK.. wish I could find the original reference I spoke of...

it was mauro di pasqual who said that.

however MCT are oxidized by the liver faster. take mcts before a workout you produce ketone bodies.

simple as that. im on keto and take half my fat from coconut oil, doing just fine.

usually on keto (via lyle mcdonald) about 60%+ of your calories should be from fat, and you should be in some deficit. maily because proteins are gluconeogenic and can cause raises in insulin and fluctuations in blood glucose levels somethings moreso than carbs (certain proteins), though with protein induced insulin release we also get glucogon release which seems to "balance" the second insulin secretion. Just asking though, because some ppl can handle more fluctuations in blood sugar than others. I knew a guy who would be using Ketones every time he worked out but his diet was 40/40/20 (protein/carbs/fat)

In all honesty I was not that scientific, I cared not about fat and did not run a calorie deficit, I ate cheese and meat and sausage and all the eggs I could swallow. The only carbs I took in outside the ones I could not avoid were green leafy veggies and broccoli and asparagus. I followed the Atkins diet, the original version and mostly the weeks one and two diets, I never really added any substantial carbs. I turned the keto stick dark purple almost violet. Once my cousin bought me a mountain dew while we were playing golf, while I was teeing up, and he did not know I was low carbing and I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I drank it. I became immediately dizzy and felt faint. The sugar hit my system like a drug. I got home and pissed on the keto stick still bright purple, I was so far in ketosis that even a 20oz full sugar Mountain Dew couldn't knock me out.

Hehe yea. Everyone is different and the body can adapt. I think a lot of it has to do with liver health and amino acid pool make up. And of course genetics and gene expression.

Very interesting read you guys. I am glad you are having this discussion in my thread :) I am learning more  Reps all around :D
Will update later today, got a job interview that I have to "prepare" for :fingersx: Wish me luck guys...

DAY 14-19

I had a couple of updates I was about to post before I went traveling but I seem to have lost my notes
If I remember correct I didn't get all my workouts in last week due to the trip coming up. I did hit shoulders and legs though, cuz I had major DOMS in my legs the whole weekend :p

Well the trip was very nice, we were 8 friends traveling over to the neighboring country on a ship, there and back. It wasn't anything more than a drinking weekend though :ugh: Got pretty smashed on Friday when we left and ended up spending some cash at the roulette table, lucky me. Of course I won and bought drinks all around and we all suffered from it in the morning :yuck:

Took it much easier on Saturday due to having dance lessons on Sunday :)

Food intake has been off the charts. The buffet on the ship was delicious and I chowed down everything I could get my hands on. 6 different red meats, 4 different fish, chicken, etc, etc. I stuffed myself so full I could barely walk :D

I have dosed my Ursobolic at 15caps/day since last Thursday now. Protocol is 5/5/5 split.
The best part is I wasn't even "out of shape" after a weekends drinking and eating. I felt as tight as before and I wasn't even bloated.
I had to measure my mid section when I got home and to my surprise it has dropped down 0.8 inches (~2cm).

Looks like it saved you over a long break lol.

Another logger is taking a week off to be with family. Let's see how he responds :D

Hopefully this other logger wont be disappointed after a 1 week break (I bet not ;)) :)

Wow if that isn't results I don't know what is! That's amazing! Edit.. stupid swype

Good, glad to see you had fun and did not have to pay the price, I am pigging out this week hope I am as successful as you in maintaining my midsection. Good Job :fing02:

Sounds like UA is where it's at.....I can get it for $15 a bottle....so looks like I might have to high dose it in the future. You think it has any application in PCT?

For certain it should be a staple in that regard

I hope not either since its me! :fing02:

Nice! Party, eating with no effect on waist + it went down :O
Indeed, I'm shocked

Bought my 8 bottles for 14$ a pop ;) Thought I'd put it to the real test by running it 12 weeks :D
I think it has an addition year round no matter if you are on cycle or not considering all the health benefits. I will nomm on these like i nomm on BCAA/EAA's

DAY 20 - 21

I've had to take this week completely off from the gym.
Monday I woke up with a sore throat and felt dizzy the whole day. Well the throat cleared the next day but the dizziness stayed and I got a blazing headache so I went to the doctor.

He told me I was going through the beginning stages of sinusitis :( Crap! Well he gave me some meds and said it should take down the inflammation and that way prevent a full blown sinusitis. Felt better this morning and all symptoms are 90% gone. But I have to eat them meds until Sunday so I wont be able to hit the gym this week

I will drop my caps down to 12/day starting today (Day 22).
Hopefully I will have kept most of my strength when I get beck to the gym next week. I have faith in Ursobolic
I will probably give my next update on Monday after I have hit the gym for wither cardio or weights :)
Stay tuned ;)

(I thought I'd post some "mid-cycle" pictures at the 6week mark when I am half way thorough. What do you all say? Yay or Nay? :D)

Go for it! 6 weeks is decent enough to show results typically

Man going through some tough times. Keep well, hopefully the ursobolic will stave off some catabolism and help with inflammation. Keep us posted good sir!

I hope so too. Looks like I'll be putting it through some real testing here

Serious as a heart attack  ;)
Keep in mind I had been on Ursobolic for almost three weeks (2weeks @ 18caps/day and a few days at 12caps/day) so it wasn't like I all of a sudden dropped that 0.8inches. It was the first time I measured my waist since the start :)
But I was happy it still showed 0.8 inches less then the start even when I was out drinking all weekend

Almost a full pant size can't beat that mane!!! Keep killin it bro! I'm excite:):):)
