Too many company reps posting on this forum guys... Seriously, not cool. They are just trying to get attention for their products, which is why the company's have their own sub-forums here on AM. There are no real constructive threats on the supplement forum no more... Only "ads". They should be in other place, like this sticky states, not here... Invalid Link Removed

I'm gonna have to disagree, just because some one is a rep doesn't mean that it's an ad. I would rep for a company or the company's products if I didn't truly believe in them. Also there are so many reps here running logs for other company's.

I rep for NTBM and I'm running a log right now for bps and I can tell you both products I am logging for them are legit.

Yes there are some post that are more like ads but there obvious and people should be able to look past them.
 
I am not trying to bash anyone or any company. Just saying there are other parts of the forum you guys can do your work on.

Its pretty easy to see past the company promotion in posts... a number of reps post good informative info and I can appreciate them. Sure they hock their wares... but thats their job. AM is the best forum out there.
 
At least some ppl still have respect. Not like the red neck up here...
You are right of course.
But I mean, it's clogging the wrong sub-forum.

Is it really that much of a hassle to look past it? What do you propose then? That AM do a better job at censoring the board?

Here is a scenario, maybe you can elaborate what your ideal outcome would be.

Say I ask for someones thought on a new pre-workout since I am tired of my old one... Then what?

- can a rep not recommend their companies preworkout product? Even if that rep truly loves their companies pre-workout, they still can't suggest it since it is in the supplement forum and not their company forum?

-should I then proceed to post my question in each companies sub forum individuality?

-or are only non-reps allowed to recommend products?

What is your "perfect" scenario when someone post in the supplement forum asking for opinions on what preworkout to try?

People ask question and we do the best we can to answer those questions. Naturally if I rep for company X, it is because I use company X products and believe and stand by those products so it is only natural that I would recommend them, is it not? Your thread has this tone that all reps are just out their to sell products and make a buck.. You do realize a great deal of us arent really paid right? Is it that you think we get a percent of the companies profit? Cuz we dont :(

Furthermore, those that do get "something" for their rep position are usually compensated with their companies products. It only makes sense that a PES rep would recommend Erase being they themselves use erase and most likely loves the product. So someone ask for what AI to take.. Why cant the PES guy recommend erase? He uses and believes in the product.

What does the rep signature change? What is so wrong with this? Is your view of people so jaded that you think everyone is tryna pull a fast one over you?

Just take what they say with a grain of salt if it really bothers you... you can tell the shillers from those giving their honest opinions and advice pretty easily.

Did you read the post. I rep for NTBM but am logging bps products a different company not the one I rep for and am giving praise to the legit products
 
Sometimes company reps are the most knowledgable, especially when it comes to their products. I actually appreciate their input as long as they identify themselfs as reps.

You made a direct atk to my person. That is not a opinion. Also, that is not the main point of the tread (your opinions about me). It's to find out how to stop all the Spam on the Supplement forum.
 
ok this thread is ****ING worthless. AMs has been around for a very long time and has TONS of reps on here. Like others have posted, take everything w a grain of salt, research stuff for yourself, and find other AM members results w certain supplements. Its a multibillion $/year industry, yea thier are some biased opinions and ****ty products out there. BUT without places like AM you may as well be "flying blind".

Im not gonna hate on reps or people that like to piss in the wind about where Reps for companies should ONLY post, but get real man. I have yet to come across a thread in here that a Rep posted saying " You have to buy THIS!! You'll get t huge". If i want that **** I'll go talk to someone at GNC.

You are a troll because the sole purpose of this thread was for you to get a reaction from people. An attempt to stir up controversy. There has been nothing productive about your post so far.. Hence I call troll.
 
This is not going anywhere. As usual when someone try to bring some discussion up, you get bashed. Ppl just don't try hard enough to see others perspectives and get personal about the discussion, which send the thread to completely other direction that of the first proposed discussion.
Just sad how ppl don't respect each other.

I guess this can be closed. End of discussion! Moderator, plz?

i was reading a thread today and some company reps kept on plugging their product every few posts in bold, colors, and large fonts and completely unrelated to the thread. it was annoying but i just ignored them. Some reps are very helpfull though, PES and DS are two I trust their advice and respect their opinion.

what annoys me more is that it became a cult here. you cannot disagree with a product without being attacked at a personal level as you can see as if people get a cookie or something if they befriend the companies.

it is sad, but it is the nature of the business. after a while, you learn who to listen to and who to ignore.
 
The entire culture of AM is vastly different from when it started. I first began lurking here in '04 when transdermals and M1T were all the rage. Back then, there weren't nearly as many sponsors and the traffic was much smaller. However, with growth comes evolution of the board. I will say that there are a ton of companies that now sponsor AM, which I think is a testament to the popularity of the board. Some of the original sponsors such as Avant Labs and Custom Nutrition Warehouse are no longer in business which is just a microcosm of how different the supplement landscape is.

I remember that time, first when i got into the fitness, BB world. If you pay attention you are going to notice my account is from 2003.
Good times, good true PHs. But today we got a better understanding and bigger broad of supplements.
But you guys are right about the evolution of the industry and the social business that is going on here.
I just think there are better ways to market goods without being on the face of your clients...
