Are you currently under or recently been under extreme stress (physical, mental, emotional)? I went through some pretty rough times and I was in decent shape, but the long term affect of the stress messed my hormones up. I am currently on whole-food supplements and have become a lot more disciplined with my diet (it was pretty good before these issues). I basically gained 20lbs of gut fat in the front and love handles while dieting properly and working out. I am no expert, but I have switched from high intensity, high weight routines to higher rep routines to reduce the stress induced chemicals and hormones that my body has been producing too much of. I would definitely get hormones checked. Start out doing shorter overall weight or bodyweight workouts that last 20-30 minutes and do them 6 days a week, taking one day off. I have noticed that my body seems to be responding to this type of change for now. My balance is returning, but isn't completely back. In the first three weeks of this I only lost 6lbs and am not sure how much of that was fat or muscle. I am noticing changes in energy overall, in a positive direction. You have to start somewhere, so start with something you know you will stick with while you are waiting on results. It isn't hopeless, but it will take time for your balance to come back once you know exactly what the problem is and have a plan to restore that balance. It is very disheartening to be in that place, but you definitely can turn it around. From what I have read so far, there are plenty of people here that have knowledge and experience with the diet, supplementation, and weight training routines to help pretty much anybody. Keep your chin up and just start easy.
