All my OHP has been with dumbells and I am handling one arms with 90lb-100lbs yet I went to do an OHP on a barbell and used 135 yet it was actually kinda difficult. Any idea why? I should be able to blow that outa the water if I'm OHP standing with a dumbel 100lbs
You're potentially using more stabilizers doing this with dumbbells than a barbell, and your imbalances and weaknesses in sides can show more in this than using a barbell. Your strength using dumbbells are no indicator of what you can do with a barbell, even though technically with a barbell you will be able to lift heavier since you are not relying on unilateral strength. Also, if you're not used to an exercise, the first time doing it is never going to be the best, and if anything, only to be used to get used to it and provide a baseline to work from.

Thats what is not clicking. If my stabilizers work more in the dumbell and it is over all a harder lift and I have a lot of power to do a strict 100lb one arm beltless mind you. So 135 beltless with the barbell should be nothing at all. It just isnt clicking. I can also military odd objects just fine. IT was this barbell.
I agree OP it doesnt make sense, you should usually be able to do more with a BB than a DB. Maybe because of form on DB your utilizing other muscle groups more than you do on the BB. I have no idea. Form is all I can think of here. Do you grip the DB the same way you gripped the BB? Palms out? I see some people going palm in on DB OHP/Shoulder press.
Couple things come to mind.
First, you are trained in single arm ohp. The motor programming is developed. If you don't do double arm ohp often, or this is the first time, then it will take time to develop that motor programming; as you do your strength will increase in that exercise quickly (neural gains).
Second, what do you do for db ohp with two arms at once?
Personally, i can db ohp more using one arm at once then both arms at once. I can also dumbbell ohp about 75% of my military press in one arm.
Finally, are you using your lower body at all to drive the weight up? If you are, then its only to be expected that you will be able to do more in one arm then two at once, since you are using bilateral lower body musculature either way, and you aren't using more when doing both arms at once.

Like I said, what you can do with a dumbbell is no indicator of what you can do with a barbell. Also consider the order of your exercises and what you have done prior to it, as well as how used your body is to it. So many factors come into play, including that it could have been an "off" day in the gym for you. Don't over think it.
