muscle milk rtd vs powder (quality)

hey there,

i'm new on the board. i'm seeing a trainer to try to help get back into shape. they said that i should be drinking muscle milk light after my workouts. i'm going to probably just go ahead and buy the powder and mix my drinks after my workouts every day, but i was wondering, is there any problem with the ready-to-drink versions available at most convenience stores? she said that they have added sugars and stuff, but i was looking around online, as well as on the bottle and i see nothing about any added sugar. it actually says "no sugar" on the bottle. i was thinking it might just be a sales pitch to buy the muscle milk right there at the gym.

anyway, it's cheaper to get the mix and just do that anyway, so i'll probably do that anyway, but i thought i'd try to find out, just in case on any given day i'm in a rush and want to just grab a bottle at the store.

thanks for the info.

There's hundreds of options for protein powders out there. If you are buying RTD's at the gym, you are most likely over paying. Trutein, Nutrapro, and some others will do the trick. Just test a couple out and see what works with you and your wallet.

oh thanks but i think i'm cool with muscle milk but the question is whether or not there is any clear advantage nutrition wise to buying the powder versus buying the ready to drink kind. i've already tasted both, and i'm cool with both tastes. and the price seems competitive either way. i just want to know if by getting the ready to drink am i really getting extra sugar and other crap or is it exactly the same as mixing the powder?

thanks

I honestly think that any whey isolate or hyrolyzed form works faster than muscle milk, and if you buy powder you WILL pay less per serving, along with the advantage of being able to mix different amounts in water or milk. Sure it is probably smoother but I don't support RTD protein shakes. JMO
