blood work for thyroid is going to be checked every 6 weeks to check how thyroid medication is functioning as well as finally getting the properl e2 test done to see where his levels really are after all these inaccurate readings of e2. We may also do a hair analysis that may help shed some more light to what is going on potentially with heavy metals and nutrients imbalance at tissue level. I still think that there may be issues with b-12 deficiency due to low lithium levels which needs to be investigated.

HAN;
for Hair analysis make sure that he uses Baby Johnson shampoo for at least a month before cutting hair.
No hair dressing of any kind.
Get a hair cut (ASAP) so he have 3 months (~1") long hair only.
Only from a back of head.
Buy new scisors for hair cutting for analysis.

Whatewer (the most reliable) E2 test he will be using,
if his testosterone (transdermal or shots) is applaid less often than EOD he have a snow ball in a hell chance to get his E2 right.

If he is doing E3D shots, have him do three blood draws and average the results.

I get hair analysis from one one place and it is not genova because they do not follow orginal procedures in not washing the hair. On the paper you have to notifiy what shampoo is used and hair is taken closest to the scalp. Its idiot proof. Actually from manupulating his nutrients his e2 is coming down and adex is being reduce to eventually he will be off of it.

RT3 was checked a several weeks ago. It was 15 on an 11-32 scale. HAN was not concerned. Been a bit tired lately, so I suspect the 1/2 grain isn't enough. We knew that, though. Just working up slowly.

I suspected T3 was an issue, but Shippen wouldn't go there. Would have thought he, of all Drs, would but such was not the case. Weird....
 
February 2010 update: Some progress

Adding thyroid support has been helpful, but a repeat glucose tolerance test inspired me to do a test.

A little background: Despite getting T, estrogen & arguably thyroid a bit better fatigue was STILL an issue. Had a Glucose/insulin test last year, but had another recently.

Weird results. Fasting was 90, which is good. Anything over 100 indicates possible diabetes. Now the weird part: After downing the sugar water glucose went DOWN to 64 or so where it stayed for 2 hours before climbing back up to 75. Still trying to understand this. Even the local endo is puzzled.

Did an experiment & ate very clean for a few days, not that I ate poorly before. No bread, no pasta, minimal sugar. Whattya know, I started to feel better- more energy & less crashing. I need to pursue this & see where it goes.
 
That is pretty crazy. Did they take insulin readings along with the glucose? It sounds like your pancreas is pumping the insulin out too fast.
 
Yes, they took insulin as well. The reading was quite low!

I too initially thought insulin was high. Seems it is just the opposite situation. Here are the numbers:

Insulin response to fasting glucose test:

Fasting: 3 UIU/ml (range is <17)
1 hour: 13 UIU/ml (range is 8-112)
2 hour: 6 UIU/ml (range is 5-55)
3 hour: 3 UIU/ml (range is 3-20)

Seems the insulin response is arguably low/slow across the board.

Glucose levels:

Fasting: 90 (normal: <100)
1 hour: 64 (no range established)
2 hour: 65 (normal: <140, impaired = 140-199, diabetes =200+)
3 hour: 76 (no range given, but up it creeps)

Weird, huh? I take sugar water and insulin barely nudges up, yet glucose goes DOWN. It was indeed odd to hear the Dr say I am an "interesting" case and will "require more research". Just great..... I'm a science experiment!

Interesting the eating fewer carbs/sugar has an initially positive effect. Hmmm.....
 
A long overdue update: Seems that addressing thyroid has helped.

Long overdue update: Addressing thyroid has helped. T is hovering in the 600-800 range on only 100mg/week plus 325iu of hcg 2x/week. For awhile I was using damned near 2X this medication to no real effect.

Elevated thyroid antibodies and lower T3/4 have been helped by adding a mix of the 2. I am now taking about 12.5 mcg of T3 and 137 of T4.

Been feeling a bit better an with more energy. Sexual performance is improved. Not like I am 20, but that was, um, awhile ago!

My advice to all here is to never give up and keep trying. I am still not all the way where I need to be, but persistence is paying off.

Still having some weird Glucose tolerance test results requiring more thought and research, but between 2-3 different doctors and much research I've made some progress.
