How Do I Measure BAT?

I would like to fine tune my TRT for a Bio-Avail Testosterone level of about 575.
I have heard this test at Quest is preferred:
Testosterone, Free, Bio/Total (LC/MS/MS) Code: 14966X

My doc uses Labcorp. Do they have a suitable substitute test?
If not, is there any other way to measure or calculate BAT?

Thanks,
Rob

Use lab corp it gives you a better break down.
I just use shbg and total testosterone to get best indicator then look at the total testosterone to e2 ratio.

That is a good goal
BAT~575

I have refined this goal.

Step #1 SHBG(15-25)

At this point SHBG is more important than BAT.

Step #2 BAT~575
----------------------------------------------

When someone presently have
SHBG>25

goal for BAT~650

additional testosterone should put a pressure on SHBG and get it lowered

goal E2 slightly higher

definitely do not use
Danazol
or
Stanozolol (Winny)
-----------------------------------------------
When someone presently have
SHBG<15

goal for BAT~350
goal for E2 slightly lower
------------------------------------------------

Always, but specially when SHBG is out of good range it is important to have close control over
glucose/insulin
metabolism
digestion

adrenals
and
Thyroid

when everything is adjusted close to desirable

SHBG is sensitive to thyroid: TT3, FT3 & RT3

it should fall in right place (going up or down) when thyroid hormones are being manipulated.

When discussing BAT
one must strongly focus on the fact that it is BAT from this test at Quest Diagnostics.
Testosterone, Free, Bio/Total (LC/MS/MS) Code: 14966X

One also must be aware that there is more and more of imposters.

(deception under an assumed name or identity)

It is not enough to be a pain in the neck and making sure that doctor writes complete name on the script,
you have to make sure that you got what you should have got, read your test report.
Laboratories are switching.
Well, I know for sure that Quest Diagnostics switched on me and few others.
-----
Unfortunately, good thing we had with Quest Diagnostics hit a glitch.

Their testosterone tests discussed here is still very good, so are thier other tests.

Unfortunately when we run TRT we must monitor E2-Estradiol.

Quest dropped the ball with their E2 testing.
It is unacceptable.
Practically it returns random numbers.

My next testing I will do at LabCorp.

Their tests are just as good,
their estradiol test seems to work.
I am talking only about this tests:

Estradiol, sensitive 140244 (3-70)

What is left is our BAT.

When at LabCorp do not use thier BioAvailableTestosterone.
Look up imposters (above).

BAT can be approximated by testing at LabCorp (or anywhere else)

TotalT
SHBG
Albumin

and using dr Vermulen's chart to find out FreeT
this chart:

Invalid Link Removed

On that chart

BAT~575 corresponds to FreeT(300-350)

BAT~600 -------------->FreeT~400
BAT~350---------------.FreeT~200

====================================================

It would be ok to do all testing at Quest
and
do only Estradiol at LabCorp.

BAT IS CRAP TEST // TESTOSTERONE TOTAL + SHBG

WASTE OF GOOD INSURANCE MONEY

BAT OF 575 seems to be a very high number.. I don't think many people are able to achieve this?

JansZ, I think you are forgetting that the total testosterone range at Labcorp is different than at Quest. Quest goes up to about 1100 whereas Labcorp goes to about 800. Therefore, you don't need your BAT levels when using Labcorp to be as high as when using Quest. Maybe shooting for a free testosterone of around 225 pg/ml would be best. 300-350 pg/ml is too high a goal since you would need total T around 1100ng/dl. Trying to shoot for a total testosterone of 1100 when using Labcorp is roughly equivalent to shooting for around a 1500 when using Quest. This is probably not good for general health (especially cholesterol and BP).

I think you are not correct.

One should get same value, when measuring testosterone at Quest or LabCorp.

Ranges that laboratories use (mostly) correspond to the population that they serve.
Possibly it also depends on statistical manipulations that they may use.

It seems that Quest and LabCorp have a similar old patients population but Quest must have more young bucks or old farts like me on 175mg/week test.

LabCorp(241-827)
Quest(250-1100)
....

I am looking at my LabCorp 4/28/2006 report
TotalTest=1039(241-827)

Now from Quest 1/26/2010 report
TotalTest=1061(250-1100)

JansZ that is really interesting. The reason I stated otherwise is because of what Dr. John said in the sticky "Message Board Myths" (which you posted in) on the ATM forum. Are you saying that Crisler is incorrect here? He might be, but I would find it hard to believe that he doesn't know what's up. He seems very adamant that laboratories with different ranges will give different results.

One day, if possible within 1/2 hr
go to LabCorp and Quest

report back

----------------
Or, if you are like me on EOD schedule,
take two days,
go on day of the shot right before shot
day#1 to LabCorp
day#3 to Quest

report back
