Spring Cleaning the Kitchen Sink (LG, USP, MST, IBE and More!) Unspons.

Alright, quick update:
Lifted yesterday and had a decent workout. Still waiting to feel something from the Prime - I'm hoping I start seeing something from that soon. GHenerate and ZMK remain the most fun aspect of my current supplementation, although I have been enjoying high libido with my low-dose Formex. Running low on fish oil, may end up placing an order with TP for some as they have some other stuff I'm considering. Or, there's always NP, where I could snag some Focus XT too!

How I scared the gay men in my gym yesterday:

Sumo Deads: 315x3, 405x3, 425x3, 435x3, 435x3
Still quite a bit down from previous numbers, but it's 10lb more than I did the first time I pulled after my illness. Progress!

Uni Leg Exts: 100x3, 110x3, 120x3, 130x3, 140x3, 110x12

Weighted Chins: BW+60x3, +70x3, +80x3, +90x3, +70x3
Ss'd w/Floor Flies: 60x3, 60x3, 65x3, 65x3, 50x12
The final set of chins was supposed to be a back-off set wherein I performed as many reps as possible. Well after that +90lb set, "as many as possible" turned out to be 3. Oh well. I really like floor flies - in fact, I'm really enjoying all the movements I've been doing that involved a dead stop. They provide for a good opportunity to really concentrate on accelerating the weight upward as fast as possible.

Seated Hammer Curls: 40x3, 50x3, 60x3, 70x3, 75x3, 50x12
Ss'd w/DB Tri Exts: same as above, except I only hit 11 for the final set
My triceps always seem to need more warming up than other bodyparts, so I started off this superset light. Rest periods were almost non-existant here as I was running out of time.

Not my best feats of strength, but respectable. Tonight I'll be hitting up shoulders again!

Very respectable indeed my large friend. It's nice to be healed from that illness now, isn't it? It's like returning from the dead.
We take feeling good for granted until we fall really ill. Then we realize just how precious good health really is.

You are 100% right - I have been so appreciative of my health over the last week. I revel in simply being able to function, in having my brain capacity back, and it's honestly affected my mood for the better. I've been trying to take a more laid back, "steady-pace-wins-the-race" mentality in my research, as I'm pretty sure I was overworked/trained and that that contributed to how sick I got.

Very intense workout tonight - I did power snatches for the first time in a couple of years! I gotta stop lifting at night, as it leaves me fatigued before I even set foot in the gym. That doesn't stop me from tearing things up though! It's always when I put my Cons on (Converse Chuck Taylor Allstars) that I get psyched. I only wear them for lifting, and tightening those babies up is a mental switch that it's time to kick ass!

Anyways, gotta 1000 fish caps and 2 Focus XTs (1 Blackberry, 1 Cotton Candy) in my NP cart, but they're outta Java Lather! :(

Ok, time for another update!

I don't know if any of you check T-nation, but I visit it a couple of times a week. Their articles can be good, though very hit-and-miss. And I would never pay the ridiculous prices for their products.

Anyways, they've released a "mineral" product, and they're calling (I couldn't believe it!) "ELITEPRO". Copy-catting a USPLabs name? Really now.:nono:

But it doesn't stop there. They go on to make the claim that no supplement on the market possessed the qualities they wanted to provide in their product - amino-acid mineral chelates! Hate to break it to you Biotest, but MST has had that game mastered for years...

Enough ranting. Well, almost; I made a pact with the wife that we would no longer workout at night. It's too crowded and we are already too fatigued from the activities of the day, and it takes up the time that we would prefer to be spending in "other" ways. ;)

So last night was our last evening workout. It looked like:

Seated Overhead Partials: Cluster Sets 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 215x3
I had to wait 20min (?!) for the power rack. It's a bit hard to do overhead partials without the safety pins. But this just got me fired up, and my power was great. Not using the smith for these was also great - less weight but way harder.

High Incline Press: 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 215x3, 225x2, 225x2
...Um, yeah. Something isn't right with my incline press. It feels very "off." It could be because I did it in the power rack with a mobile bench. Next week - I'm using the actual incline bench and hope that fixes it.

Push Press: 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 210x3, 160x8
Now this really stood out! 210x3 is the most I have push-pressed in a while, IIRC. I was driven and every rep exploded to lockout!

I finished off with some DB Calf raises and then went home to force-feed myself before collapsing. Blech.

Yesterday I finally got to the gym at a decent time - went on my lunch break. It was very nice to have the sun shining in on the power rack.

I believe I am feeling the Prime kick in now. Recovery is rapid - no "muscle fullness" yet, don't really know what to look for there, but my hunger to be back in the gym is returning sooner.

Making progress strength-wise. It's always a long trek back to where I fell from, but I took some good sized steps.

Front Squats: 245x1 +225x3, 265x1 +245x3, 275x1 +255x3, 295x1 +275x2
I like this method of loading - the single is nice and intense, but then makes whatever you lift next feel much lighter than it actually is. It's really doing 8 sets, but neurally, it felt much less than that.

Dead Stop Pin Press: 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 225x3, 185x12
Dead Stop DB Row: 120x3, 120x4, 125x3, 125x4, 105x16
The stops make these brutal by removing any and all momentum and elasticity from the lift. I'm getting the feel for the pin press, as was shown by the increase in weight that I could handle. Still, I miss good old fashion bench press. The rows, I don't know; the gym needs heavier DBs.

Unilateral Lying Leg Curls: 100x3, 105x3, 110x3, 115x3, 120x3, 100x9
Seated Leg Press Calf Raise: 100x10, 140x10, 170x10, 190x8, 190x8, 170x13

Spider Oly-bar Curls: 115x3, 125x3, 135x3, 140x3, 145x3, 115x12
BB Tri Exts: Same as above, but 115x16 for the last set
Nothing too exciting here.

Nice...just rub that last comment in our face why don't you!! Oh yeah 155x16 ho hum...you friggin animal.hehheh

Pin presses are brutal. I was doing these for military presses and trying to get that weight started is killer.

As far as the muscle fullness I get from Prime, you just have this all day mild pump going on. What is the dosing routine you are using?

FTFY Once upon a time it would have been 155x16, but it probably would've been on an ez bar too. :)

I was really taken aback by how "light" I had to go on pin press. But I swallowed my pride and the experience is well worth it. I feel like a spring compressing right before each rep.

I'm dosing 9 Prime on lifting days, so 5 days a week, and 6 on recovery days.

Prime 6/9 is a good dosing schedule. Keep it going and you should be seeing results soon. You are a big guy so it might take a little longer to build up in your system.

I am starting my 3rd week and the strength is coming up nicely.

Wow, time has flown by! This update is long overdue. I spent a three-day weekend celebrating my wife's birthday with her, so I've been off partying for days.

Got in several nice workouts - among which I dl'ed 445x3 so my strength is coming back. Also been working on my snatch form. I've never been good at that particular lift. I have trouble dropping far enough on the catch, but I'm working on it.

This will mark my 3rd week of Prime. Still not really feeling much of anything, but I am getting stronger, so it could be working.

My Dad is in town tonight! I'll be taking him to Invalid Link Removed for a night of feasting on beef. It'll be great to see him.

Dude everytime I go there/fogo de chao/brazzaz, I end up eating so much I feel I am going to die. In other words, I am insanely :censored: jealous!

I know dude, it's pretty awesome. I get a plate of the shrimp salad and then gorge on the filet mignon and garlic sirloin. My Dad has never been there either, so he is in for a real treat. He has a fine appreciation for well grilled meats; he's an exec for a luxury bbq company.

Excellent workout yesterday - I vanquished all before me.

Big-time strength surge, quite unexpected, but very much enjoyed. I switched incline press from the power rack with a mobile bench to the actual incline bench and what a difference it made. Those few extra inches in which I was able to pull my feet back made a world of difference, as you will see.

Supp-wise, I've discovered that Focus XT plus 4 scoops of Anadraulic Pump tastes nasty as hell but works wonders for the CNS while lifting. Also, it seems Prime is finally coming into it's own. GHenerate and ZMK continue to make sleep very nice.

The workout:
Seated Overhead Partials:
Cluster Sets 185x3, 205x3, 215x3, 225x2
I like these a lot - it's very satisfying to blast out each single then hear the resounding slam of the bar back into the safety pins. Numbers about comparable to last week, decent though.

Incline Bench: 185x3, 205x3, 225x3, 245x3, 255x3, 265x3, 275x3
Switching benches made all the difference here - ROM, explosivity and form were much improved by using a bench that is slightly higher off the ground. Considering I topped out at 225x2 last week, I think these numbers pretty much speak for themselves.

Push Press: 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 210x3, 215x3, 175x9
215x3 is 5lb over what I hit last week and it felt quite endurable. Not light by any means, but definitely doable. I contemplated going for 220, but decided to be conservative and let that wait until next week possibly. I was also pleased with 175x9 - it was a great finish to the routine.

So, with my last order from NP, I received quite a load of goodies. I didn't get picked to test the new NP protein, so they gave me some stuff as a consolation apparently. 2 NP T-shirts and 18 sample packs of Adrenalean! I couldn't believe it!

I wore one of the shirts to the gym and while I was Push Pressing, I had a guy ask me if I was an NP sponsored athlete and competing in a PL/Oly comp. I was quite flattered.

That combo does not sound good R.:bigeyes2: I think the Prime is making it's subtle appearance here. You don't have these huge jumps in strength but all of a sudden working sets are getting easier. It definitely has to be run for 4+ weeks to see this.

Yeah, it was Cotton Candy XT plus the AP. Individually, I like the flavor of both quite a bit, but they do not complement each other at all.

Today I used XT about an hour prior to lifting and added some AP to my intra-workout shake. Taste was much better in both cases, and still quite effective for energy/stamina.

I agree - Prime is taking hold. I am quite pleased, and looking forward to what it does!

All the heavy and explosive pressing is taking its toll; my right wrist is giving me some trouble. I skipped curls today because of the discomfort supination was causing. I'm gonna tape the wrist for a while. That should take of things.

Today's workout:
Oly Front Squats:
245x1 +225x3, 275x1 +255x3, 295x1 +275x3
Wide-stance Back Squats: 225x8, 225x8
Getting stronger here - got up to 295 with two less sets and cranked out an additional rep with 275. Used back squats for my back-off sets as I don't want to neglect that movement and haven't done it much for a while. Felt good, though a bit weaker than I would have liked. Chalk it up to rustiness there.

Deadstop Pin Press: 185x3, 205x3, 225x3, 245x3, 185x13
DB Rows:120x6, 120x8, 120x8, 120x8
Improvement here as well. Topped out at 225x3 last week, so 245 is good. Also, I decided that since they don't have a heavy enough DB for me to do sets of 3, that I'd just do AMAP with what they do have. So, 120 for sets of 6-8 and I'll shoot for ~9-12 next week

Uni Leg Curls: 80x5, 90x5, 95x5, 115x5
Uni leg press Calves: 150x5, 170x5, 190x5, 230x5
Not so much a fan of leg curls, but I do 'em cuz they're good for me. Calves? Well, I just keep hammering away at them, hoping someday they'll grow a bit or two.

Damn bubba..295 sitting on your shoulders is huge. I can't handle that so I just do Zerchers. I guess I don't have enough meat on my anteriors because it feels like it is sitting on my bones. I am working on getting more mass there. When you do calves do you pause in the bottom for like 2-3 seconds before pushing back up. I read the other day that if you don't the Achilles tendon acts like a rubber band and assists most of the lift. I have just started doing this myself to see if I can get my twigs to grow!!

I was hitting 300+ not long ago. Gettin close to it again!

Yeah, when I do calves, the motion is very deliberate for each rep. I start in the bottom stretch, making sure I really feel it then attempt to "hop" up onto my toes. I hold and squeeze at the top and then lower again.

Wow, it's been a week since I updated? Time goes by quick!

It's been nice running a non-sponsored log; it is more for my own benefit and thoughts rather than to provide feedback for a particular company.

That being said, I just received my package of Carnivore and Beta BCAAs from BBS, so I have to log that now. I didn't honestly think they were ever gonna ship it, consider they chose me to log it way back in December.

I'm thoroughly stocked to the gills now on pre-workout/stim products: Focus XT, Anadraulic Pump, AS-GT on the way and now Carnivore too!

I'm really enjoying Prime now. It's in full tilt and my strength is rising steadily. I'm also back up to 246, so I've gained several pounds rather rapidly. Looking a little bloated in the mirror, but that could be due to the extra calories I helped myself too last night. I didn't cheat, but just felt extra hungry and so had a protein "brownie" on top of my normal dinner.

My right wrist is sore as hell these last few days - I am incapable of supinating that hand and the grip is all but gone. I've been taping it and using a strap for every pull in the gym. I've also changed my workout up a bit: I like the volume that the I, Bodybuilder program brings to the table, but it focuses too much on one body part at a time, to the detriment of other parts. So, I took it's general principles and formulated a nice push/pull split that I'll use for a while now.

This pretty much wraps things up for this log, but I'll be putting up a new one for the BBS stuff soon anyways.
