Best Pre-Workout Drink - Non-Stim

Mr.50

Board Supporter
Hey what is everyone's opinion on the best pre-workout drink that is non-stim? I ahve been waking up early and going to workout and I am having some trouble waking up early enough to eat, digest, and then get to workout. I can't do fasting workouts (except cardio) because my intensity is really hi (short rest periods) and if I try to do fasting I get low blood sugar and start feeling nausus......

Any suggestions?

I was toying with a mixture using some super carb and an amino blend but I am not sure that is the way to go...

Primordial Performance Pre-Max looks along the right lines but it is way too expensive in my opinion at almost $5.00 a serving...... (only 10 servings per container)??

Anything along those lines???

Caffeine Free Ragnarak Ultra i dont know if your just looking for caffeine free or what but thats an option another is Pre Max it seems very very promising but as mentioned rather pricey more of a thing you use for those harder workouts and have a backup for regular days.

If totally stim free is what you want, Ultima takes the cake.

If just caffeine free is what you want, Anadraulic Pump or C-Free Rag would do you fine.
Unfortunately, i can't say I agree regarding the Ultima comment. Ultima did nothing for me but make me tired. After talking with a quite a few people, I realized I'm not the only one. i don't know what exactly it is other's have experienced w/Ultima but I know I wasn't fortunate enough to experience it.

However, I am quite interested in the c-free rag.

Each to his own, man. Some stuff doesn't work for some people.

i havent been able to beat Pre MAx yet i love my GPLC i just cant find anything close to it

Hey guys I appreciate all the replies but I guess I need to be more specific...... I am looking for a non stim pre-workout drink/meal that will provide sufficient carbs (and the right type) and some amino acids/protein that will still get into the system and clear the digestive tract in a relatively short amount of time so that it can be taken before early morning workouts and still not take forever to digest. I am not as worried about the micro nutrients/supplemtal additions......on that front I agree with MAN Body Octane and Ultima and Ragnarok both look really good too (though I have not tried those).

Pre-Max looks like it has some carbs and protein and good micro nutrient blend but as I said its just too expensive for my taste.

Got that right ;) Invalid Link Removed is likely the best non-stim pre-workout supplement you'll find.

It does have a high price tag, but used sparingly (e.g. on your hardest workouts) I think you'll be very impressed :)

I just used my first serving of PreMax today. :woohoo:
Concerning ingredient profiles, I don't see anything else that can really touch it. I plan on using it a few times during the week, prior to my more demanding workout sessions. I'm excited to get this ball rolling.

Accelerade, or my favorite, Revenge Pro (small amount of caffeine, though.

do non stim preworkouts really give u all the same benefits as a drink with caffeine? Refering to the energy, focus, pump, drive etc

Decaf rag lacks the caffeine kick, of course, but it has a stimulating effect, though mild. Focus is good on it, and pumps are friggin outstanding. Caffeine negates pumps somewhat, so decaf supps will be better, not worse, in that regard.

Decaf gives you options; caffeine is but a coffee/redbull/nodoz tab away, but if you don't want it, you're good.

premax and ultima best stim free you can find IMO.

honorable mentions caf free Rag,power drive, caf free fast twitch.

I've been using PreMax and Rag (with caffeine) for several months and Ultima since it came out the first of the year. I like the effect of Ultima but I'm not crazy about the taste. I usually mix it with orange juice to make it more palatable. Ultima provides me with a mild state of euphoria for me it’s more of a mood enhancer and I’ve never experience any lethargy from it. I usually take a full serving of GPLC about 15 min before drinking my Ultima and I get some of the best pumps I have ever experience from a natural product. I also like PreMax mixed with Rag. Rag helps improve the flavor of PreMax and also reduces the cost. This combo gives me a slight buzz which I really like prior to lifting and also provides a good pump but not as good as Ultima with GPLC. Both are good for focus and slight increases in strength. I’m not sure about endurance I haven’t started jogging since its still winter in my part of the country. Ultima is my favorite but I get tired of the taste so I alternate between the two.

beverly's Uplift has an interesting profile, used it a couple of times to spike my DominATP, but never used it in the AM when you need the xtra wake-up punch.

I don't really endorse using a product that contains anything beyond bcaa's pre-workout (within 30min of exercise).

Macros tend to throw off the effects of pump type products. I'd try no synthesize (vpx), but you won't get many carbs out of it, but it seems to be more of what you are looking for.

Its interesting tonight I took some VPX Shotgun (night time workout today because of work). It was fine but I am not sure it would have been as ok if I was just coming off a 8 hour sleep fast....... I really seem to need to have some carbs flowing in my system to complete a fast paced workout.

I really dont need or want the stims..... I dont necessarily mind them but I would prefer a pre-workout drink without them so I can use the stim of my choice with it (OEP, Recreate, Vapor-XT...... or something else).

If you have carbs, I would try to have an apple 1hr prior to workout, then try a workout powder, I missed how soon after you wake up that you do cardio.

If you consume carbs immediately pre-workout, it'd be pretty much the same to consume some during your workout (and not immediately pre-workout), so some type of fructose containing drink would be beneficial to you.

Its a sad truth but price is a big factor in a consumer's decision as to whether or not they will use a sports supplement or any supplement for that matter. I wouldn't mind trying something once or twice but in the long run, it just don't compliment the budgets of the masses. Even the most illustrative charts and graphs cannot really grasp the consumer's attention for long b/c let's all be serious for a second:money is always a major issue.

I'll most likely wait for a sale to come around before I try Pre-Max. Sounds like a simple, straight-forward effective supp. Doesn't seem to be priced well-enough to be a staple year-round though :(

theres a prewo without caffeine that im going to be trying out next and its fairly decent pricewise and the profile is cool with me, im going to add BA, and mono. i think its called strength and stamina from some small company but its got 2G GPLC, 1000 mg of choline citrate and 500 mg of Alpha GPC, 10 mg Vinpocetine, and 50 mcg of Huperzine nd also cordyceps and glutamine but they wouldnt tell me how much, the carb sources are trehalose, waxy maize, karbolyn. its 38 for a tub and ive emailed to see how many servings it is

Agreed it is expensive, but defiantly worth every penny!!

I happened to come across (and ended up picking up) a small bottle of LifeExpand Glyc'n Go (GPLC) delivering 2g GlycoCarn for every 4 chewable Peach-Mango tablet. Tastewise, the tablets are definitely palatable.

I read in the write-up for Pre-Max that the effective dosage for GPLC is 4g so I'm thinking of going with 8 tablets pre-workout to help out with my endurance training and the running I do at the end of my workouts (1.5-2 miles). Some of that combined with Jack3d, Cordygen5, possibly Purple Wraath (maybe pre-WO, def. PWO) and IntrAbolic intra should get the job done.

I've heard I-Force hemavol was good. but i've never tried it.
I drink chocolate milk and GPLC preworkout. you can add pretty much anything to that, I personally usually have some vitamin c, Xtend and caffeine with it.

All in one glass? Rough.

no...But i've had some stranger concoctions in a glass when I'm strapped for a quick meal.

Just the chocolate milk and the GPLC together, the caffeine as a 200mg capsule and the vitamin c as a capsule.

The xtend I have with gatorade before and during.

Although, it would be interesting to mix all of the first ingredients in powdered form into a container of nestle or something as custom pre-workout powder (powdered milk as well).
i'm not sure how to get a hold of powdered caffeine though :irked:

MAN Clout and MAN Body Octane together in my opinion is by far the best stim-free preworkout around.

I also used to be a big fan of the old SNS CVM Xtreme, but I don't believe they make it anymore.
