2009 College Football Season

HEY RUBBERRING! Remember what I said about Kiffin's brown-nosing?? And how he would talk sh*t about you the next week?? Well here you go. The refs lost it for him. Worst yet the Tide (and let's throw in the Gators for good measure) dare to "live on".

From Bama blogger Terry Pellman:

"In a season highlighted by some very bad calls from SEC officials, some things just aren't questionable. I could see an argument against the pass interference call. But, when I see four penalties involving false starts and the delay of the game that's pretty simple to me. Illegal blocks, roughing the kicker? Couldn't be more clear cut.

In the same conversation he mentions the headphone system on the sidelines. His inference was along the same lines as the penalty numbers--it's a grand conspiracy against his staff.

Considering Alabama had the ball, our play-caller in the booth needed more use of the system than the Tennessee coordinator who was on the sidelines. So... just who is at the disadvantage?"

As for the potential personal foul on Cody... on a blocked field goal, the kicking team cannot advance it, if the ball crosses the line of scrimmage. The ball was beyond the LOS, so an excessive celebration penalty would've allowed no provision for another down to be run. Just a 15 yard penalty on Bama, who has possession. The "game cannot end on a defensive penalty" code doesn't apply here. Game over.

BOTTOM LINE: Lame is not only lame... he's now tired and predictable.

Florida has been the benefactor of bad calls all season. You cant deny this. I hate you tell you, but the Gators will be beat by Bama is McElroy decides he isnt hilariously awful.

And that's why they play the games. Subjective speculations matter not. EVERY team is at some point the "benefactor" of a botched call. In reality, harping on a "bad call" is trivial at best.

The best team on the field that day will win the game; whoever it may be.

Yeah and the "best team" got beneficial calls at the end of their games that went in their favor and sealed the games for them twice. There is a reason that ref crew was removed.

Classic TT post!
Taking down 2 SEC teams in 25 words or less using the head on approach for one team and the backhanded compliment on the other. Well done as always.

BTW, there is a "bad call" algorithim that makes up one of the calculations (1.26%) in the BCS rankings and Florida still comes up at #1. So your point is mute.

In the end though, a win is a win; ugly or not.

Truly the end of story.

Tebow yesterday:
"Would we like to do it a little prettier?" Tebow asked. "Yeah, but (winning ugly) is how we're doing it right now. We're winning games. If they're all ugly, that's OK, we'll be undefeated".

It's what's been the difference between teams like Florida and Bama and teams like USC and Ohio State these last few years. Your gonna have ugly games, but you gotta have that ugly win. Hey, I loved watching all the "pretty" wins last year but the fact is our record is better right now than it was this time last year!!

:slap:

Oh dear god, how's that flat world you live in?

Florida is not the juggernaut there were anymore. Thats two "ugly" wins that came with pentalties pushing them down the field to win the game on awful awful calls.

I hate you for not acknowledging my Mike Gundy post.

What post?

Oh, the BCS? Oh man, that **** is spot on accurate!

Hey you homicidal maniac, I've got tickets to the Irish-Stanford game on Nov. 28. I'll give you one if you're up to traveling... and if you promise not to kill me.

That would be when I was scheduled to be with the wife's family in Atlanta. D@mmit! :zx11pissed:If I can squirm out I am definitely in my man! That should be another nail biter. It doesn't help that its at Stanford.

O...K...

due to technical difficulties, i haven't been gracing this forum with my acute knowledge and accurate assumptions about college football. I have some catching up to do.

I compiled a top 10 list of the events over the past 2-3 weeks in college football and on this forum.

10. colorado upsets kansas (wow!!)

9. cincinnatti getting it done without starting QB

8. emotional uconn game

7. Iowa knows how to win (ugly)

6. Alabama is national championship material

5. Nortre Dame has talent...but needs a coach

4. with final scores of 9-7 and 13-10 and 17-6...PPL here still think the SEC is the only conf. in college football.

3. Penn state bans tailgating (minnesota game) due to 6" of snow. Did i say snow.....yeah i did ( and its only october) sorry SEC..like it or not its a legitimate argument.

2. purdue dumps OSU ( and to think i was pissed when pryor turned penn state down)

1. Florida's ugly wins and crooked officiating. T.Tebow isnt the same since his injury (i seen the stats before and after his injury) however, i am impressed with the gator "D".:saroll:

Florida played like the team they are today. I LOVE watching the bulldogs get their azz beat in Jacksonville. Those sad black helmets were fitting for your funeral. Florida has now won 17 of the last 20 in the series.

Who's your daddy, Georgia? - F L O R I D A!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

:saw:

Those sad black helmets were fitting for your funeral.

Dude, when will Georgia learn that nothing good happens when they wear black? Remember the Blackout against Bama last year? Yeah, that didn't work out so well. Well, at least they looked and played... like Grambling today.

Georgia needs to figure out a way to get all their recruits driving chargers and escalades like Bama. Maybe get the next Hershell.

Yeah, that doesnt fly here haha. Those people know better.

Speaking of stupid, classless, ghetto pieces of ****.

Hey Florida nuthuggers, explain this.

Here are some juicy tidbits from the letter SEC commish Mike Slive sent to our boy Lame Kiffin this past week:

``It is your responsibility as a coach to comply with the policies of the Southeastern Conference and to know the football playing rules. Since it is clear from your public comments that you believe this letter `means nothing,' let me be equally as clear to you. The next time you, or a member of your staff, make public comments of this nature, you will be suspended from all coaching duties for one or more games, and the institution may be subjected to a substantial fine.''

``I also remind you that this is your second public reprimand in your brief tenure as Tennessee's head football coach, and on both occasions, you were wrong about the applicable rules.''

Ouch. :lol::lol::lol:

Anyone else getting pissed off with Ole Miss and how they're erasing all of their old traditions?

Hadn't heard. If laying down to Auburn is an old tradition... they certainly didn't give that up.

EDIT: If you're referring to the "South will rise again" issue, I think it's a big to-do over nothing. It's a dumb lyric anyway. Replacing it with "To hell with LSU" seems like a major improvement to me.

Its not just that. Its Col. Reb, its banning battle flags, its trying to change the school name to the "Express", the south will rise again. Its part of what made Ole Miss, Ole Miss. I realize you are dead and departed from SEC ball, clinging to what scraps you can get, but not everyone likes seeing the south being forced into changing because of PC bull****.

Changing or progressing? If there's one thing I know, it's that southerners aren't usually forced into anything. A lot of what you mentioned above has been brought forth by the student union with the support of some alumni. It's their university, so whatever they decide to do with it shouldn't effect you one way or the other. Something tells me that if the U. of Texas had a Chicano emblem on their helmets instead of a steer, you'd be all about change. (Yes, I understand your ethnic background.)

It sure as hell isnt progressing. It was probably pushed for by progressives though. The vast majority didnt want these changes. The "student union" is the student governtment and all they did was recommend that if the line was going to be changed, it would be to hell with LSU. Dont think that anything student government does is relevant. Some alumni isnt the majority. People liked it the way it was and forcing people to drop what makes their school theirs is ridiculous. Everyone likes Ole Miss for being Ole Miss, not just like any other school. Standing up the PC crazies that want an autonomous society.

I dont understand your point with Texas at all.

Does everyone include the African-American Mississippians as well? I have a feeling it's just your people who like it the way it was. Many southern "traditions" are just excuses to display some kind of prejudice. I spent the first 20 years of my life in the deep south, and I still don't comprehend why I'm expected to have some kind of heartfelt pride for the Confederacy and its symbols. Why would I be proud that racist slave owners who made up 6% of the population controlled slaves who made up 39% of the population, and then decided to succeed from the Union in order to keep that social structure... and then lose the war? Any fondness I have for the southern states has to do with the people who currently reside there and the geography of the region.

My point with Texas was that you'd feel uncomfortable rooting for a team who had a cultural emblem you're embarrassed of painted on their helmets and/or flags, and you'd be in favor of changing it. I'm sure the Texas Express sounds much more appealing to you than the Texas Chicanos, even though I'm pretty sure you said you're of Mexican descent.

Look, let's just call this what it is: You don't give two sh#ts about Ole Miss. You detest black culture. Period. You've stated this multiple times in various threads. I'm not judging you for it, but don't try to disguise your disdain as a noble cause. It just bothers you to see any xenophobic practices disappear.

It's ironic that you used the word autonomous in a negative sense. Kant used that word to mean acting in accordance with one's own moral duty rather than one's own desires. If that's crazy, then I'm as mad as a hatter.

Florida played like the team they are today.

Sure looks like they've come out the other end. Finally.

How sweet was it watching Tebow break Herschel's record AGAINST GEORGIA??

Also, it's the first time in HISTORY that any SEC Team clinched their conference in OCTOBER!!

Let me guess, confederate flags are synonymous with racism. Looks like you ended up where you belong in Homo Explosion, CA.

The south seceded because the north was full of federalists and slavery was a core issue but states rights was the bigger one. Had the north's economy been based on slave labor, it would have been a very different tune. Tell me we are better off becuase of a strong central federal government. A division of power was what the founders craved, and now look at us. States rights. The confederate flag represents our region and a pride in what we think makes it the best place in the states. Obviously, you dont, and you left. I think the country as a whole would be better off had the south won. I think a confederacy as a whole is a better system of government and slavery would have eventually ended but on the south's own terms and racism would be a lot less tense than today. Forcing progress just sets it back.

And yeah, popular black culture is borderline retarded. What of it? No, go ahead, Im being intolerant of a no snitching, pants around your knees, smoke weed urryday moron convention. Black people have no one to blame but themselves anymore.

As far as it being divisive or offensive to black people, read a history book, we explained that. If they cant get over that at one point they were slaves and now they live in the south, how do they expect anyone else to. Embrace your heritage, I do. Changes from the top that no one wants piss me off. The weak ****ing hit rules in college football, Talladega's new ***** rules, QB protection rules in the NFL. The majority did not want Ole Miss' changes and they dont understand that in trying to shift to a modern university, they are leaving what made them appealing and are now just like anyone else, eventually causing a net loss. If they change their name from the Rebels, the entire leadership would lose their jobs.

Sure looks like they've come out the other end. Finally.

Hey Florida nuthuggers, explain this.

He found his contact lens in the turf and was helping him put it back in.

Seriously, what do you think happens in the bottom of the pile?? Spikes was popped late about 4 times before that (Georgia was even called for a personal foul) and they had ripped Spikes' helmet off 2 plays before.

My God TT, I think you are PC ? Come out of the closet!

Call me sensitive to it because I was a RB and had to be on the receiving end.

Doesnt mean Spikes isnt trash for doing it. "Everyone else is doign it!" "Oh, that makes it ok."

Youre right, looks like Florida did play like the team they are.

Seems like a case of poor conference play than any thing else though. We've not had the best records overall vs other years, yet still, the best conference overall period....besides florida, alabama, and lsu, the rest have been pretty poor, more so than usual.

Agreed. All records have background. Doesn't make it any less of a record.

What the hell, I leave this thread for a couple weeks and when I come back it's a referendum on whether the south's Confederate symbols are racist or rather merely symbols of southern Pride. Take that crap to the politics section.

The weak ****ing hit rules in college football, Talladega's new ***** rules, QB protection rules in the NFL.

Here, I clipped all the parts of your post I can relate to.^^^ Too bad connecting them to the Ole Miss issue is, at best, a vacuous argument.

As for the rest of it, you are who we thought you were: A racist. A stupid, stupid man. A walking cliché.

The country would be better off if people like you would all simultaneously vaporize. Now, that would be progress.

So, non-cretins... I hear there's a game in Tuscaloosa next weekend! Saban Bowl III: The Battle for the SEC West. Hope Bama can fix their offensive issues, because LSU's defense is solid. The Tide better come out guns-a-blazin' if they intend to see the Gators in Atlanta in December.

Where are all the LSU guys? :buttkick:

Reaxll Tide!

Should be great game.
Hopefully the bye week will help you as much as it did the Gators before they went to BR.

Check this out!

SEC Commissioner has had it with Kiffin:

Dear Coach Kiffin:

This is with regard to your post-game statements concerning the officiating in the Tennessee at Alabama football game played in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on October 24th, 2009.

The actions and statements constitute public criticism of officials, contrary to the provisions of Bylaw 10.5.4 of the Southeastern Conference Manual, which reads, “coaches, players and support personnel shall refrain from all public criticism of officials.” It is your responsibility as a coach to comply with the policies of the Southeastern Conference and to know the football playing rules.

As a result of your comments, I’m sending you this letter of reprimand. This reprimand will be made public.

Since it is clear from your public comments that you believe this letter “mean(s) nothing”, let me be equally as clear to you. The next time you, or a member of your staff, make public comments of this nature, you will be suspended from all coaching duties for one or more games, and the institution may be subjected to a substantial fine. I also remind you that this is your second public reprimand in your brief tenure as Tennessee’s Head Football Coach and on both occasions you were wrong about the applicable rules.

Sincerely,

Michael Slive

Yeah, sure. You are missed back home. Those are all things that happened by leadership that the majority did not want to please outside interests.

Unfortunately for you, Im not stupid. Typical from you though. You just dismiss what I say, call it stupid, and show how open minded you are versus the close minded idiots down south.

You want proof your stupid ass progressive ideals fails? Look at your own state. Everyone has racial bias' I just wont piss on your leg and tell you its raining. Get off your high horse.

If if all the people like me vaporized, this country would only be run by vegan pussies. Let me know how that works for you. I understand your position though. "Pussies dont like ****s because pussies get ****ed by ****s."

I posted parts of it on the last page, but it got lost in all the political rhetoric! Yeah, it sounds like Slive has had it with Kiffin. I think he'll definitely see a suspension next year if he keeps it up... which he will... because he can't help himself. In referring to people like Lame, my dad used to say: "Wherever he goes -- there he is." So true.

Unfortunately for you, Im not stupid. Typical from you though. You just dismiss what I say, call it stupid, and show how open minded you are versus the close minded idiots down south.

The key word is stupid, as in you don't think clearly. I don't think you're dumb. You're obviously educated, and you're clever. You're just stubborn and full of piss and vinegar, so you say stupid sh#t.

Everyone has racial bias' I just wont piss on your leg and tell you its raining. Get off your high horse.

Go back and read what I said. I stated that I am NOT judging you for your disdain for blacks. I actually defended you for your freedom to have prejudices in another thread. I have hatred and biases too. Ironically, most of mine have to do with people who think like you. You can't work past your caveman instincts to want to smash those who don't agree with you or share your same daddy issues and/or self-hatred. I've got no problem with you just coming out and saying, "Christ, I hate blacks. I can't believe Ole Miss and other institutions are catering to their sensitivity issues. I hate that sh#t. I like the old hierarchy."

I understand your position though. "Pussies dont like ****s because pussies get ****ed by ****s."

Okay, that was funny.

But seriously, I know it's easy for you to paint me and others who think similarly as pus$y, vegan hippies. But most of us aren't. Some of us are very vocal and would beat someone senseless in a bar fight. Basically, we're ridiculous human beings. Just like you. I know... you hate that.

Where are all the LSU guys? :buttkick:

Reaxll Tide!

I'm here. It should be a good game next Saturday. I'm thinking LSU may pull the upset but I am a little biased. The Tiger's offense will finally come out firing on all cylinders next week and pull a major upset to the tune of 24-7. :sorry:

Mike will be dining on chunks of elephant throughout the week in preparation for the slaughter.

I know everybody despises Lane Kiffin and it's obvious why you do, but does anybody besides me think that 2 years from now he will have that program near the top of the SEC? Especially if daddy hangs around to coach the defense.

I went to college football Mecca yesterday to watch my beloved Buckeyes in what was the most uncompetitive game I've ever seen. NMSU didn't believe they could win, they didn't even try to win and it was an embarrassing, boring game. The final stats were something on the order of 600 total yards for OSU and 60 total yards for NMSU and they didn't run a single play on our half of the field. I hate that they scheduled this game it accomplishes nothing, a scrimmage against our 2nd team would have been far more competitive.
