Gr-Easy EJL's fish oil megadosing ala Charles Poliquin thread

Right now I'm starting a tuna and water diet for the next 10 day about 100g of protein from the tuna. I will also take 40g of protein shake every other day to get some bcaas. my total calories will under 1000. I've been reading that this kind of diet becomes ketogenic(not sure about spelling) so burns fat instead of carbs. If I add about 30g per day of cod liver oil would that greatly increase fat loss but also aid me in lot lossing to much muscle?

no more caps!

Been dosing my Artic cod liver oil at 15g the last week (DHA 1875mg EPA 1230mg) and my mood does seem to be up slightly. Don't think i'll go to 30-45g yet. Maybe get a few more bottles first!

Just been reading most of the thread again, good reading!

Why take a ridiculous amount of fish oil? In an interview on the 5 best supplements for mass gain, Charles said

This plus a number of other articles about varied effects of fish oil made it seem worth the attempt. On Sept 2 at 199lbs, I started taking in 30+ g of fish oil a day. Today I weighed in at 215lbs. Thats 16 lbs in 16 days... Granted I was just coming off an extended cut cycle, but still astounding. There is no way I have been taking in 5500 calories a day either, so i'm not sure how this worked out. Other supplementation has been Leviathan , Incarnate , Neovar , RPM and "basic" supplements. I've also been doing GVT for training (German Volume Training) Invalid Link Removed which is a mass gaining specific workout structure also popularized by Poliquin. In that 16 lbs, I believe a majority is LBM. I see increased vascularity in terms of new veins starting to become visible, but it is hard to tell for sure.

I don't think my results are typical, but they are impressive. I wanted to start a specific thread for others to share their results, thoughts or concerns about megadosing fish oil as it seems to me that the main side effect is slightly oily skin + hair. Long term there are possibly questions about health in general, but the megadose levels aren't meant to be year round. In one article Poliquin mentions doing the mega levels for a limited amount of time (I recall something like 6 weeks) then reducing to 12g (which is still high).. I will try to find the specific details on that when I hunt the article down.

I am seeing posts on other boards that claim that excessive amounts of fish oil are responsible for lowering testosterone levels. Some users were on the brink of going on TRT until they stopped their fish oils.
Curious if anyone has had ED issues while using fish oils?

not me either, I actually felt like my test has gone up since I upped my fishoil to 12-13 grams. I mean its an essential fatty acid, the production of testosterone is partly dependent on adequate intake of fats. perhaps its something else that could be causing it for those people

yea i feel like for an active person, fish oil is basically the most beneficial supplement. its such a good source of fats, great for your skin, lubricates your joints, tons of benefits. i feel bad for people who never take it or will never learn how good it is

I popped 5 and have felt like I want to throw up since. :(

No fishy flavor though.

Take them after a meal if you dosed them on there own

haha omg you cant just eat them man! take them after a good solid meal. start off with 3 maybe 3 times a day and go from there. i usually take 4 three times a day. thats if they are 1 gram a piece

Haha, I was feeling a lil....fishy.

I think I am going to work up to 20g a day -- this is MEGAdosing right? :yumyum:
