2009 College Football Season

How about yall come experience some southern heat? It is nice and humid they will be so dehydrated they will be dropping like flies.

Anybody see the Miami FSU game? They r used to practicing in that type of weather and they still had issues with cramping.

You ever been in Ohio in August? I live 45 minutes from one of the largest fresh water sources in the world, and it is unbearable hot and humid here in the summer.

I grew up in New England, so I know it can be pretty warm up north in the summer. However, you really only have 1-2 months of actual "heat", where we have a solid 6-7 months; at least that's true here in Tampa, FL. It was 100 degrees here a few days ago. Not to mention Hurricanes; which suck more than I could ever describe.

We had 3 major Blizzards in my time in Connecticut (25 years), but a Hurricane is some scary, scary sh*t to endure. I moved down here in 2003, and then in 2004 we were hit with 3 major storms (Charley, Frances, and Gene). I wanted to move back, lol. Thank god for the "Hurricane parties!"

Ok try living in the Devil's Swamp. Crazy heat and humidity from basically April through October while mother nature is PMSing. Plus by what u just said it wouldn't matter because games don't start till September.

Btw I live in middle Georgia so I can only imagine how much worse it is in Florida.

Bull****, you have no idea.

And Texas-USC was the game of the decade.

I've lived here my whole life, YOU have no idea it is extemely hot and humid here in the summer. Amazing someone trying to tell me how it is where I've lived for 36 years live and they've never been. Haha that's funny, ballsy but funny.

I grew up in Georgia and I've been to Florida in the summer several times, it felt like Ohio in August with bigger bugs.

I have to say that apart from the occasional blizzard, I've experienced 2-3, and an occasional tornado, I've never seen one, we have no real weather disasters here in Ohio. It damn sure is hot and humid in the summer though, my mother in law lives in L.A. and won't visit us in the summer because of the heat and humidity.

Wait... what?

I lived in Georgia as a child for 4-5 years. My father was career Army and we lived in Ft Benning Ga, my younger brother was born there. My dad retired when I was still a little boy, so I've spent the majority of my life in the great state of Ohio.
After reviewing my posts that really does sound contradictory but I just wasn't clear.

I thought for a second i was on weather.com....lets start talking college football.

oh!!! wrong forum...sorry

Turns out we'll be driving down to L.A. in the morning to visit the wife's family, so my weekend football plans are all but ruined. Not sure if I'll be able to catch the Bama-Arkansas game. After watching the Hogs' QB last week, this game is anything but a gimme for the Tide.

I can't begin to tell you guys how much I'm not looking forward to this road trip.

Im saying you have no idea what "extremely hot and humid" consists of. I lived in the MW for a year, and I grew up in...guess where. Something tells me I know a thing or two about real heat versus that ***** **** you call heat up north. We just had 69 days of 100+ degree heat.

Sounds like the seventh circle of hell, you may may want to relocate.

Texas is the farthest from hell that you can get. Besides, I get to hit the beach while you are suffering through blizzards. I also get better looking women, being in a red state, I can hunt with things besides shotguns (lol btw), my sports teams arent chronic letdowns, and I dont have to have cleveland in my state. I get to live in a football culture while you get to live in...Big 10 country. And Ive lived in the MW and ewwww.

Picking on Cleveland is like picking on a handicapped kid.

F*ck - props to Flubberneck and the Hokies.

2 HUGE momentum killing drops early in the 2nd half by our new TE - Jimmy Graham. What would have been.

Miami is such a young team - I figured a game where they lay an egg would happen. I honestly thought we'd be 2-1 going into OU - just had GT beating UM but beating VT.

Beat the Sooners!!!

BTW - WTF at the Noles and Cal. Not a good day for either of the 3 teams.

penn state will beat themselves...i turned the tv off. no offensive line whatsoever. Fumbling the ball...blocked punts...sloppy tackling..and bad calls by the officials. Iowa just does things right against penn st. they won 6 out of the last 7.

whats the status on Tim Tebow?

No bleeding on brain per CT Scan in hospital last night. Diagnosis: Concussion
Coming back to UF right now.

20/20 hindsight here but I do question why Meyer had him playing then in 3rd quarter with UF up 31-7 when it seemed obvious that Kentucky couldn't really put up any serious offensive threat. Tebow and a few other players were also sick with flu and actually had to fly a seperate plane to Kentucky. There were some reports that the flu was actually H1N1 (Swine Flu).

Good thing they have a bye week next week, but then have to head into Baton Rouge. Hopefully Tim will have recovered by then but I know concussions can be tricky. Thank God QB John Brantley is no scrub.

***BTW, did you catch Bulldogs Coach Mullin (previously UF's offensive coordinator) almost beat the Tigers? MSU's offensive looked more like Florida than Florida!

Yeah, I winced all through that game. Almost made me as sick as the Tebow thing. Thought PSU would cruise after score was 10-0.

Sick of these Hawkeyes having Lions number. Even still, that shouldn't happen in Happy Valley.

What A crazy week in college football. 7 of the top 25 lost including 4 of the top ten. I was most surprised by Miami getting drubbed by Va Tech, they even had extra prep time with playing on Thursday the following week. I was ready to put Miami in the NC game after watching them the first 2 weeks. I was also surprised by Cal's showing. I picked Oregon to beat Cal, but in no way did I expect them to beat them so convincingly.
My Buckeyes shut out another opponent, with all the losses in top 25 we shouldn't fall more than 1 spot this week. Last week we won by 38 and fell 2 spots.

Crazy week indeed. I just hope tebow is ok for lsu. I hope fl kicks their @ss.
WTF state Penn? That sux. I was pulling for you guys.
Man our defense really stinks. WTF happened to tenutas d? It was killer at gt. If we could get our d to step up, I would be a little more confident. Can't win if you can't stop the other team!

Our defense looks pretty good. I think it's actually better than last year, but our offense is not good. We had 7 passing yards in the first half yesterday and only 82 yards for the game. Pathetic.

I think he'll be OK but maybe not in 2 weeks. I don't know much about concussions, but the way he runs and takes hits, him coming right back next game makes me a little nervous. I think Brantley would do just fine - kind of under the radar with Tebow being there. Anyway in 2 weeks this crazy flu that's wracked the team should be long gone, which will help alot in and of itself. The UF bye week couldn't have come at a better time!

Anyone know how long you should sit out after a concussion??

That was a brutal hit last night. Watching that play in slo-mo even made me cringe, and I see blood and guts on a daily basis.

As an emergency room healthcare professional, I don't agree with how they handled the whole injury situation. Tim should never have been allowed to stand up under his own power. He should of have spinal precations put in place for his own protection. That involves applying a cervical collar and long back board for his transfer to the hospital. To Tebow's credit though, he's one tough son-of-a-b*tch. I don't know many guys that could get up and stand under their own power after a hit like that.

There are degrees of a concussion injury. The initial CT scan was negative (that's very good), but I suspect they'll repeat that in 24 hours to look for any signs of delayed bleeding. I think pending everything else is ok, he should be fine to return against LSU. I would really be concerned with a neck injury based on the mechanism here. His face mask probably saved him for a potentially serious spinal cord injury. Had his neck been allowed to violently hyper-flex forward any more than it did, who knows how bad the outcome could have been.

Depends on the severity. I saw him wabble off the field and throwing up on the sideline and I thought to myself that's a bad concussion. I know that I've been president of the Tebow hater's club but I never wish injury on ANY player, I hope he's back for LSU. With his mentality he will want to play regardless of how he feels, The coaching and medical staff will need to be on top of this if he plays too soon and is hit hard it could be much more severe.

I've heard the same thing a few times today. Wonder what the hell they were thinking?

Unfortunately there were a lot of happy sick f**ks trolling the Gator Forums today that made me want to puke.

Yeah, fun is fun but that's a young man's health your talking about and I def draw the line there. I didn't see the way the medical staff handled the situation just a few random highlights. In this day and age spinal and cranial injuries are so heavily stressed and prepared for at all levels that I'm surprised they did not handle it well. Even my little rural high school errors on the side of caution when it comes to these type of injuries.

I must say I love a good hit, but the hit on Tebow was redonkulous. It hurt me to watch.

Now a few things I loved about this weekend:
1. Darryl Clark's face after the game
2. Bobby Bowden's post game speech "dadgum they're a whole lot better than I thought"
3. Terrelle Pryor's amazing passing skills....o wait a minute

A few things I hate from this weekend:
1. Charlie Weis' face after the game
2. Rich Rodriguez (not just this weekend, but always)
3. Boise State being ranked #5

I know this remark is a little late and the whole weather conversation has been drawn out, but to Plenny and Bucknuts:
I lived in Ohio for 17 years and I know it gets pretty warm in the summer, BUT having lived in Arkansas for the past 9 years, I can tell you that the humidity and heat here is uncomparable to the summers in Ohio. Somedays can be almost unbearable to the point you cannot breathe. I only live in the mid-south, I can't imagine what those is southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida feel.
The flip side can be said about the cold up north so this argument just goes round and round and round and round.....

To Rubberring.....hats off to the Tide for making my Hogs offense look like a scared high school team

Georgia is always a physical team, but they aren't even ranked. If they can beat Florida WITH Tebow, they will get my respect.

Georgia is #18 in the AP poll and #14 in the USA Today Poll. Their only loss is a close one to Oklahoma State in their first game.

It will be a tough game for LSU this Saturday playing at Georgia.

I'm actually more worried about that one than Florida next week in Baton Rouge.
