2009 College Football Season

Yea I need to catch up on the past smack talk, but when I read his comments about Bama and Flordia the only two real teams from the SEC. It got my started. How could anyone in their right mind say SEC isnt the dominant conference in football?

Yeah, plenny was an abused child. And all that Pennsylvania weather has affected his perception of reality. (All kidding aside, he knows what's up, but he likes to push buttons. He's actually a good guy, but I'd never tell him that.)

You, texaswolf, and LSU Gladiator (wherever the hell he is) are the Geuax Tiger guys around here. LSU-Bama will no doubt be another war this year.

Welcome.

Yea Coach Saban has put both Bama and LSU back in into National Contention every year again. There is all this talk about "Ole Piss" winning the Western SEC Conference, but I am not buying it. If this game is anything like the last few years, we're in for a good one. This game comes late in November so both teams should be full steam ahead, and know exactly where they stand in the SEC picture, as well as the BCS standings. It will be the winner out of the LSU Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday, November 7th, 2009 will meet Flordia in the SEC Championship, and very well a date with the National Championship.

Here is what one of the Big Ten Flagship University's been up to this offseason.

Newspaper: Michigan regularly violates NCAA rules - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

DETROIT -- Several Michigan players have told the Detroit Free Press that the program regularly violates NCAA rules limiting how much time they can spend on training and practice sessions.

Players from the 2008 and 2009 teams talked to the newspaper for a story published on its website on Saturday. They spoke to the newspaper on condition of anonymity because they feared repercussions from coaches.

Coach Rich Rodriguez and the university's compliance director, Judy Van Horn, both denied that the football program was violating NCAA rules.

Those rules allow eight hours a week for mandatory workouts during the offseason. However, players told the newspaper that they spent two to three times that amount on required workouts.

Can you say MUTINY!

IMO - Coach Rodriques will not make it pass the season. Here we go with the Les Miles to Michigan rumors again.

As much as I despise that snake RichRod this is a non-issue, every major university routinely breaks the rules concerning time limits on practices maybe they do so more covertly but trust me it's done EVERYWHERE. This a statement of how much the players despise the snake, Michigan made a deal with the devil and now they must pay there penance. Totally agree that he's probably gone in a few years and then scUM will throw the world at Les Miles. Miles would be a fool to leave LSU for meatchicken.

^^^^ good post^^^^^:18:

A classic case of the Big 10 being under the microscope. And all the trouble in the "other conference" gets swept under the rug.

Given the importance of bowl games, a logical question is – which conference has the most all-time college football bowl victories?

Good question. And, we have the answer.

You will probably not be surprised to find that – the Southeastern Conference (SEC) has the top college football bowl record.

So, here is the bowl game record (through 2008-2009) of the major college football conferences (based on historical conference affiliation). The first number is total bowl games. The second is wins; third is losses; fourth is ties; fifth is bowl game win percentage.

Bowls Wins Losses Ties Win %
SEC 348 190 149 9 .559
Pac-10 193 103 88 2 .539
Big Ten 209 97 111 1 .467
ACC 166 81 83 2 .494
Big 8 127 63 63 1 .500
Southwest 151 63 80 8 .444
Big 12 92 45 47 0 .489
Big East 76 42 34 0 .553
WAC 101 42 58 1 .421

SEC -vs- Big10 from 1999-2008

LSU-2-1
Bama 0-2
Ole Miss 0-0
MSU 0-0
KY-5-3
FL- 2-4
GA-5-0
Vandy- 0-1
SC-2-1
Ark-0-3
UT-2-1
AUB-4-2

SEC- 22
Big10- 18

SEC is 12-5 in BCS games
Big 10 is 8-11 in BCS games

SEC has 5 BCS Championships
Big10 has 1 BCS Championships

As you can see from the chart, the SEC basically dominates the field as the #1 all-time top bowl conference. The Southeastern Conference has more bowl wins and a higher winning percentage than anyone else. And, it really isn't even close.

dont EVEN try spitting those pathetic numbers at me. My post WASN'T implying that big 10 is a better conference than the SEC, i clearly said that certain teams are on top of their respected conferences. With all due respect, READ thoroughly before throwing numbers around.

Btw... what's up with Herbstreit picking Penn State to win the conference???

Herbie couln't even pick his nose...Although i wont disagree with him.

Finally... after making 1,120 posts, someone makes reference to my screen name. Actually, it has less to do with condom halos than it does mopey 80's Britpop. Either way... reps to you, sir. "Everybody's clever nowadays."

I agree, I do have alot of reading to catch up when it comes to this thread.(26 pages,You guys been at this a while:surprised:). The only reason I quoted those stats was to help illustrate my point that Bama and Florida are not the only two quality teams in the SEC.

:lol5: rubbering do you own a pair of assless chaps? based on some photos I saw in another thread I'm gonna guess that you do. :laugh2:

People in california are gender confused. The men are bigger women than the women themselves. That Brad Paisley song was pretty much written about california.

Uh-oh... this ain't good.

My understanding is it was a .22 and hell be back in a week.

I see this talk about assless chaps. All chaps are assless by the way. It just depends on whether or not you decide to wear pants beneath the chaps.

So calling chaps assless is sort of asinine.

Anyways.........4 more days...I can hardly wait.

Chaps are meant to be worn over a pair of jeans they are only refered to as assless if you wear them with nothing else. It's a gay thing. rubbering you live in the bay area will you please explain it to him.

I gotta' admit- I admire plenny for his loyalty to conference and team.

But we ALL know the truth- whether or not some of us want to admit it. ;)

Hey plenny...what happened with State Penn not having an appearance with us this year? That would've been nice.

Arkansas is so getting a beating from LSU for the past two years games.

This one is scheduled to be a night game in Death Valley too. Good luck with that. :mischievous:

Yea that is enough of the afternoon games for the "The Battle for the Golden Boot" against Arky the day after Thanksgiving each year.

The Tigers have some of the craziest fans in all of college football and trying to play in Tiger Stadium at night with 92,000-plus fans around you must be one of the most intimidating things a college athlete can do.

Just look at Tebow's reaction following his LOSS last time he played in Baton Rouge

WOOOOOOO PIG. prepare for a surprise SEC west champ!

I actually think Petrino's boys will surprise a few teams this year... just hope it's not against the Tide on the 26th! The Hogs are flying way under the radar, which is a nice place to be in the SEC.

I can see a 7-5 season and a bowl this year.

we had a 2 yr contract (2006/2007)..i would love to see ND on our schedule again. There was talk about ND moving to the (whisper) big10

You dolt, SS was around a lot last season. You just don't remember him because he's the one SEC fan who took it easy on you. Probably out of pity.

Btw, since Baby Hulk's on here, I'm gonna have to spread my cruelty around a little more. But plenny, don't take it personally. It will always... always... be YOU that I hate most. Forever and ever. In both warm and cold weather.

That hate can keep you warm in the cold weather. Seriously I'm one who does believe weather can be a factor in a football game, a very wet/muddy or cold/snowy field could neutralize a speed advantage IMO. A faster football team like Florida/USC playing in a foot of snow in Columbus would be fun to watch, they should have some bowl games in the mid-west in January just to test the theory.

LSU is lucky enough to get to play The Razorbacks in Little Rock everyyear. If they had to travel to Fayetteville their ears would be ringing for days. The stadium in Little Rock holds about 30k less people than Reynolds. LSU continually talks up how we are their whipping boy, isn't is sad when Casey **** beats you? I would personally be embarrassed. Prepare for Ryan Mallett to unload on the SEC West....if only Rich Rodriguez coach down here

...and Here We Go!!!!

College Football starts tonight. Good Luck to Everyone and Your Teams !

I dedicate this season to my mom - one of the biggest Florida fans in the State of Pennsylvania.
She died (too young) last week after a courageous 4 year battle with ovarian cancer.

"Mom, I'll dearly miss watching all those games with you and I'll be thinking of you every time the Gators take the field!"

God I love College Football!!

Sorry to hear that about your Mom,

Can you tell by all the chater on this thread - it that time!

I live in BR. There hasn't been much sh*t talking that i've heard about the Hogs. I mean yall beat them twice on a row. And with Casey **** to boot - as you mention.

Re: cold weather. Please explain how so many of my beloved canes are thriving in the NFL in the northeast and midwest. I mean if the temp. were that big of a deal then certainly Devin Hester would never be able to have a 100+ yd kickoff return, no?

Same for Ed Reed. Bubba Franks didn't forget how to catch passes in green Bay. Hell the Bills have had 2 warm weather RB's in McGahee and now Marshawn.

Anyway just some thoughts on the weather debate.
Cheers! I hope to come to The Shoe next year - we got an inter from chemical engr. down here that will be in school next fall. I can't wait to see Pryor against Harris. Should be one helluva QB duel!

LMAO!

I see this place ain't changed a damn bit. Look forward to the banter again this year.

ND won't ever join a conference in football. Period.
At least not while they have the NBC deal - they give up too much money to go to a conference.

You won't like this but the best fit, IMO, to add to the Big 11 is Pitt.
They are in the immediate vicinity and won't stretch travel, are good in both football and b-ball.
Contrast to, say, Iowa St (bad in both sports) or maybe Louisville (Pitt is better in football and has more history).

I dunno who else is even a good fit in that part of the country.
Whatever - there needs to be 12 teams in the Big 10/11 like every other major conference. Pac 10 doesn't have a team like Pitt hanging around that part of the country to gobble up. The distance kills that conference.

I guarantee cold weather has a massive impact on football players, especially those from very warm climates. I moved to Arkansas from Columbus, OH 10 years ago. I bleed Buckeye red, but I am a sucker for underdogs and have a second love, the Razorbacks. Back to the weather debate...to this day I hear people moan about how "freezing" is it on certain days and will be completely bundled up with winter coats and hats, then I look at the temperature and it will be like 48 degrees. Now I mean 48 isn't warm, but jesus christ how about 20 degrees and colder playing outdoors. Why do you think the Big Ten has to end the season so much earlier? That is just here in ARK let alone deep south like Florida and OM. Put those warm boys in the Horseshoe on a November night with snow and Buckeye nation getting in their ears and that will make for one miserable night.

You didn't answer my points but OK.

I'm not saying ambient temp. doesn't play a role - I'm saying it's not the huge deal it's made out to be.

Besides - I know y'all have kids from South FLA. Does it hurt Sabino or Liuget (DL at UofI)?
Not that I see.

Anyway - 6 hrs till S. Carolina-NC St!!

Its more a matter of shock. Yea once you are in a climate you acclimate, fly some where for 10 hours then play a game the next day and that is a shock.

We won't join, especially now. The SEC signed a tv contract and EACH team will see more money than we do from the contract. Our contract is no longer the excuse now. I will try to find the article. Bout time you showed back up. Hell, I been looking forward to adding someone else to my list of enemies on here!!:mischievous: At least during this time of year.

The BCS caters to Notre Dame as well. Aren't they like guaranteed a BCS bowl if they finish in the top 10 or something like that?

I never see them being anything but an independent school.

The day has FINALLY arrived! I can stop wearing black now, and end my 8-month period of mourning.

Go C0cks! Go Ducks!

The day finally arrives, indeed. Let the sh*t talkin' begin!!! GO GATORS BABY!!!!!
