Creatine on a cut

I hear a lot of people taking creatine on a bulk. Do you see the same benefits to take it during cutting? I would assume so. And still take it on my cut but just wanted other opinions.

i also understand creatine undermines caffeine efficacy.

caffeine is a major part of my fatloss stack ( potentiates green tea extract and ephedrine)

so i go without supplemental creatine. i eat about a pound of ground meat though so i get creatine through that.

Hmmm really? I did not know that. Because ya I am taking a fat loss supplement with caffeine and ephedra. Good to know thanks.

its the other way around, caffeine in large enough doses will negate SOME of the effects of creatine...1-2 cups of coffee wont affect it at all.

I use creatine on a cut. I feel like it helps me maintain muscle mass and reduce DOMs while on da cuts

I like it pre-workout. Creatine enables muscles to better store glycogen, so less carbs are needed pre to get the same results.

Nutrition Research Institute Maastricht, Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

"It has been speculated that creatine supplementation affects muscle glucose metabolism in humans by increasing muscle glycogen storage and up-regulating GLUT-4 protein expression. In the present study, we assessed the effects of creatine loading and prolonged supplementation on muscle glycogen storage and GLUT-4 mRNA and protein content in humans. A total of 20 subjects participated in a 6-week supplementation period during which creatine or a placebo was ingested. Muscle biopsies were taken before and after 5 days of creatine loading (20 g.day(-1)) and after 6 weeks of continued supplementation (2 g.day(-1)). Fasting plasma insulin concentrations, muscle creatine, glycogen and GLUT-4 protein content as well as GLUT-4, glycogen synthase-1 (GS-1) and glycogenin-1 (Gln-1) mRNA expression were determined. Creatine loading significantly increased total creatine, free creatine and creatine phosphate content with a concomitant 18 +/- 5% increase in muscle glycogen content (P<0.05). The subsequent use of a 2 g.day(-1) maintenance dose for 37 days did not maintain total creatine, creatine phosphate and glycogen content at the elevated levels. The initial increase in muscle glycogen accumulation could not be explained by an increase in fasting plasma insulin concentration, muscle GLUT-4 mRNA and/or protein content. In addition, neither muscle GS-1 nor Gln-1 mRNA expression was affected. We conclude that creatine ingestion itself stimulates muscle glycogen storage, but does not affect muscle GLUT-4 expression."

I would much rather preserve the muscle and reduce the fat loss than increase the fat loss and loose more muscle. So if it does help maintain muscle than I will maintain using it.

Losing weight is relatively simple and easy. Maintaining muscle is the hard part. Anything you can use to maintain muscle will help. Creatine will not affect fat loss in a negative way.

Maybe I did not explain what I mean very well. Let me try again

If creatine did have an effect on the effectiveness of caffeine and it ability to burn fat. Well then I would rather take creatine and maintain the muscle and loose the effectiveness of the caffeine. Rather than not take the creatine and have the caffeine burn fat more efficiently. Because if I did the later option then I would be choosing the fat burning of maintaining muscle
But it does not matter anyways as it appears to not really be a issue most people are saying.

didint i tell you though that creatine isnt gonna effect how well caffeine works? thats something that i have never heard...i told you..it was the oppostie...large amounts of caffeine can negate SOME of the effects of creatine.

How would creatine effect caffeine? I drink a xl coffe everyday and use creaine..and ive used it enough to know when its working,...... and both the caffeine and the creatine are working as well as they always have.

I know. Thats why ended the quote with "But it does not matter anyways as it appears to not really be a issue most people are saying."

You should be using creatine whether bulking, cutting, or recomping, PERIOD! Creatine is going to have the same effects regardless of what your body goal is. It is not a muscle gainer nor a fat loss product, but, to put it simply, an anaerobic ENERGY aid.

Not sure where you heard that, but it is FALSE.

^^^Agreed. The number one thing anyone should be concerned with when cutting is preserving the muscle that they have. The fat loss should be the second priority, since you do NOT want to be losing muscle.
