How is this for homemade pre-workout mix?

I am making my own pre-workout mix with bulk supplies from nutraplanet and so far it is working really well. Wondering if I should add anything or change ammounts. I am trying to stay away from caffeine an other stimulants so this is what I have so far.

1g beta-alanine
3g citrulline malate
3g arginine ethyl ester
3g creatine ethyl ester
3g taurine
will be adding maca as well

Thanks. I think it comes out to less than $15 a month and I get crazy pumps and strength. I started with 2g of beta alanine and had to lower it to 1g because of some heavy skin tingling and loss of breath. I will warn you that it is the worst tasting stuff ever though. My roomate mixed it with crystal light.

How about switching from Arginine Ethyl Ester to Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate? It's cheaper and tastes bland. AEE is horrible and tastes like something I would clean my windows with. Read this post by Strategicmove as to why he prefers AAKG over AEE:

Interesting. I was wondering what the diffenence was. Can't argue with cheaper and more effective. Too bad I just bought 100g of AEE. Maybe I can use it to clean my windows.

I would try to get 3-5 g of BA per serving.

AEE and CEE? I hope you're putting that in something other than just water cause it'll no doubt taste like death in a glass.

yah I would also stick with Creatine Mono.

really??? I have never felt that way taking BA.

If thats how you feel taking it try to work up to that doseage then. Most pre workout powders have an average of 3-5g BA in it. Or you could split that doseage up like one in the morning on pre workout and one post.

cool. Ill try to gradually bump it up.

let me know how it works out for you bro, hopefully your endurance gets kicked up a notch!

I vote x2 on the creatine mono, but if it gives you GI issues then definitely stick with CEE.

How about some glycergrow or another cell volumiser in there? It would be synergistic with the other compounds in there.

I'd also throw a stimulant in there, geranium extract, synepherine hcl, yohimbine, caffeine, etc. are all nice choices :)

Good post. Honestly I have never heard of glycerol/glycergrow being used as a preworkout supp. Very interesting though. I will have to do some research on it. I was trying to keep stims to a minimum but a little caffeine would probably be a good idea since I do HIIT post workout.

and mono gives me "creatine gut" really bad which is why I stick with CEE. I have a bottle of cre02 i was planning on using when I start bulking up again tho :dump:.

You have to find a Creapure brand that is made in Germany. That is the best one and i don't have any GI distress at all. I have found a place here in Oz that sells it quite cheap.

I have been on the toilet constantly through the day with crap Creatine Mono. Even the last Prolab Creapure i bought didn't have a good relationship with my stomach.

The Creapure i buy is very powdery and falls off the spoon it's that light. With most of the crappier ones you can get a huge mound on the spoon...............i hope this makes sense!!

I looked it up and I can get 100 servings(500g) for $34.99. I guess it Beats spending $40 on 30 servings of cre02 or and probably works alot better too. As long as it doesn't give me gut problems its a no-brainer. Thanks for the tip.

check out Primordial performances creapure.

I'd bump the BA up to about 3-3.5g and maybe bump the Taurine up to 4 or 5g...

AEE is disgusting and DiCreatine Malate is pretty decently priced and a better choice than CEE if you ask me...

If it still gives you problems then another way to possibly avoid the GI distress is to have it with food.

Pre and/or post workout are ovbiously the ideal times to have it but if it's still giving you problems then have it with a protein/carb meal and a glass or two of water.

Spread out during the day you'll still get good gains from it. It's not going to disappear out of your system before your next workout.

Look's good, but if it were me I'd up the BA to the 3-5g range.

pitt6691, I can predict a lot of confusion for you real soon so i'll just add this.

Start with 2 or 3 ingredients first, see how you react, play with the doses and add more down the road a bit. This will save you money and keep the motivation up by experimenting.

You could be taking something that you don't really need but by the time you figure that out you'll be taking so much you won't know what's working and what's not.

I'd recommend Citrulline and Beta-Alanine as a starting point and if your training on an empty stomach then maybe some BCAAs. If not and your eating enough protein during the day then i don't really see the need for them.

The Citrulline and Beta-Alanine will give you pumps and endurance once you find your right dose, believe me.

I actually found Citrulline to be much better than any Arginine product i've tried and once you get used to the BA tingles you won't be able to train without them!!!!

Add some Creatine later on or maybe some other stuff.

Im doing my best to bump up the BA(I seem to be very sensitive to it for some reason) and I will be ordering some bcaa's this week to add to the mix. I'm thinking about 10-15g bcaa's pre workout. Should I worry about EAA's too or would mixing my bcaa's with a protein shake be enough?

I would just make a seperate amino mix that way you can take it whenever aside from your pre

You make a good point but im kind of doing this already.I've been using CEE and arginine and taurine off and on for a while now and am happy with the results. I also have used BCAA's before but have recently just been using a protein shake instead. I added BA and Citrulline to that mix about 2 weeks ago and the pumps and energy are amazing. Those are really the only 2 supps that I have not used before. I always use glutamine post-workout as well. The reason I added the 2 at the same time was because of the synergestic effects between the 2 so I count it as one supp. My plans are to use what I have which will last me months and then maybe change up the creatine type after that. My diet is very good but I've always heard that BCAA's are a must no matter what your goal so I was planning on adding them already. As far as the BA goes I get great effect from only 1g but am trying to bump it up to see if I can see a positive difference.

Its really up to you dude, Glutamine is pretty easily attained.
