Frank Mir hurt, out of UFC 98 bout with Brock Lesnar

he has a right to fight fedor imo. its just to bad that idiot arlovski f'd his game plan up. he was winning and i dont care what anyone says in the first round until he did his gay ass flying knee. he had a solid game plan and i believe it would have worked.

How does Randy have the right to fight the #1 HW in the world? I love Randy, but in regard to deservingness, Randy has no claims. And whether or not Arlovski was winning really has no bearing on the fact he did lose; to say he would have won is speculation!

I would have to agree.

maybe if theyd feed him real competition other than arlovski id agree with your statement saying hes #1 in the world.

Fedor's reputation was earned when he was in Pride and beat the top guys at the top of their game.

Arlovski got powned by Tim Silvia, can you really stick up for that? I don't want to YouTube link the Fedor/Silvia, unprotected public raping. We could argue how Arlovski was off his mental game & what not, but bottom line, Silvia beat him multiple times. Getting four punches and a side kick off on Fedor is not redemption.

I'm just being smart ass by the way, so don't get offended, but seriously.

I respect your opinion bro but the facts are these. There isnt a hw out there that doesnt pee a little every time you say fedors name around them.

im not offended. its fedor. he isnt #1 in my book. not until he gets a mir fight lesnar fight or couture fight. hell maybe even carwin. hes been fighting these hand jobs because they know he can beat them. arlovski was the ONLY real fighter to fight him. and he effed it up. he knew he could beat him he never stuck to the game. ill say it again. give fedor some real fights and not only once a year and dont stick him with some piece of **** fighter. put him up against a name and lets see what happens. and when i say **** im talking about silvia. flat footed fat sob. yes he beat arlovski but he couldnt beat arlovski out of a wet paper bag right now.

As much as I appreciate your enthusiasm, it is a bit unfounded: Randy has four losses in his last ten fights, including a loss to Brock, whom had three previous fights; conversely, Lesnar has a mere four fights, with one loss to an admittedly resurgent Mir who is, also admittedly, nowhere near the upper echelon of the HW division [...beating a slow and tired Nog, a green Lesnar and Hardonk does not a contender make...]; and, finally, saying Carwin has a legitimate claim to ascendancy is equally as presumptive!

I empathize with your argument in regard to the quality of Fedor's opponents, but your argument could not fight its way out of a paper bag at this point; if only by proxy, Fedor is still the #1 HW in the world.

Brock had only 2 fights before Randy. He has a total of 3. And green as he is he still beat Heath during his second UFC fight who may not be the greatest but Heath did go the distance with Check. I know people are different when fighting different people and in different shape but unfortunately these are our UFC HWs. Mir and Randy both have a long list of fights mostly good with the bad included and both also have their short comings. Randy's age and Mir's motorcycle accident. But these guys aren't total pussies either. Randy did come back to fight Brock after taking over a year off. That can't be helpful.
I do agree also that Fedor has had some sloppy opponents lately. Tim Sylvia, Matt Lindland and Mark Coleman are not exactly the cream of the crop.

well once they start feeding fedor real opponents then ill believe hes #1 in the world. i find it hard to believe a man thats fighting shitty opponents gets to have that claim. i never said ol natural was number one either. tell fedor to get off the gay affliction wagon and come to ufc. if he wants to stake the claim no matter how much money he loses hell do it. but once again. you wont see that. cause why? HE ISNT THE BEST IN THE WORLD.

I do think hes #1 but I am tired of seeing his competition even tho AA looked damn good to start it off. if he didnt throw that flying knee I am going to guess anyways he would of lost in another way. I would love to see him fight mir or lesner. I think he would destroy randy and carwin. carwin got popped by gonzaga.

Ya know, if there is anyone who could claim #1 it would be Fedor since he's been without a loss for a long time and be it only 1. At Mir or Couture's best against Fedor would be an excellent fight. I don't know that Couture will get back to his best, but Mir is on a roll again so hopefully he doesn't let his fans down. I will say I'm one of them. I absolutely agree in regards to Carwin's chances in that situation. I can't say it wouldn't happen... I'm just saying I'd eat a hand full of broken glass if it did.

Brock had three fights: Min Soo Kim, Mir and Herring. Min Soo Kim was and remains a can; Mir was out-of-shape at the time; though Herring is an admittedly good fighter. Out of the fighters Ben mentioned, Brock Lesnar's claim to a so-called "unification bout" [...if it were to happen...] would be the strongest.

The point is this: despite Fedor's most recent opponents - or lack thereof, haha - he is still the #1 HW in the world, bar none. The arguments against Fedor are convincing; the arguments against Mir, Brock, Carwin and the like are more convincing.

I just don't buy Fedor having anything to prove. Even if he isn't quite where he used to be (which i don't neccesarily agree with) he still beat the best of the best when THEY were in their prime. Fedor doesn't claim to be the best-thousands of others do that for him. And as awesome as it would be to see him in the UFC for exposure if nothing else, I'm sure he is okay being treated as a God and making millions of dollars where he's at.

I dont know that mir is nowhere near the upper eschelon. i think that may be a bit harsh. The man beat brock, destroyed nog. fedor is number 1 too.

Thats true. You can't argue with record.
And its a little early to say Brock is a champ or Mir is back since they have yet to fight.

Is that really why he's not going over? Would it be a huge pay cut for him to go UFC?

i dont think his comp was that bad. same with mir. mir and fedor are great but because they are in different promotions you have to just guess there world rank and im guessing his rank is number 1. its jsut like saying why is aoki or whatever infront of bjpenn? im sure fedor would be randy. randy has a ton of losses in his day. i think if they fought 5 times cotoure could take 1 or 2 of those bouts.

It may not be a pay cut, however the UFC works with exclusive multi-fight contracts, which was a huge reason for him not signing during his most recent 'free agency' period.

Guys like AA, and Tim Sylvia both left and got HUGE paydays...

crop cop cant handle the octogon he needs to stay in the ring. AA got 1.5 mil for losing to fedor......DAMN!!!!! big bucks in MMA

F**K Sake! What does say Gsp get for winning?

Well, you gotta get paid a sh!t ton of money just to step in a ring with fedor, cause that takes some balls!

But seriously, AA probably got that much because he is one of the few respected HW not restricted by UFC anymore that would be worth putting on a ring with Fedor.

GSP is still under all UFC contracts and probably gets a ton of money from other sources aside from fights, just to sponsor the UFC name.

Oh totally. Probably twice as much as his fight payoffs. But getting that much for just the fight is pretty tits. You could probably live pretty high on the hog in russia for the rest of your life.

gsp from fights to sponsorships probably brings in 1.3 mil a fight im pretty sure i read that somewhere. his norm is like 450k a fight. with the ppv cut and all

So, Fedor finishes 2 top-5 opponents in under a minutes is not #1? If he is not #1, then who is?

Wtf does that mean? We haven't seen the real Fedor?

He's whooped major ass, came back from major ass whippings, beat everyone up. What the hell else can he possibly do?

I'm surprised they didn't put someone else in for Brock like they did for Rashad. Dana must really have a sweet spot for Mir.
