Lipitor or Simvastin on cycle support

since this is not PCT or SERM I can see no other place to post this. Anyway most of us know that AAS cycle can wreck your cholesterol levels but I have never read or hear about using Statin drugs to combat this. Is there any reason not to use statins when on cycle with AAS.

To the owner of this forum we need an On Cycle Support section.
 
statins can cause mild liver damage as manifested by elevations in liver enzymes. in few selected individuals, statin can also cause muscle damage by elevation of muscle breakdown products.
 
Red Yeast Rice, commonly used on cycle or post cycle, converts to lovastatin. It is branded as Mevacor in the pharm industry. This discussion has been had many times on the forum. I wouldn't recommend using a prescription statin on cycle, for reasons stated by others. I'm not too fond of RYR on cycle either for the same reasons. I think it has its place post cycle, but a serm can stablize lipids to a degree as well.
 
I'm taking pravastatin on my hdrol cycle. I was going to stop taking while on cycle, but for some reason I made the decision to stay on it - guess I'm just paranoid about my lipids since I was first diagnosed with high cholesterol over a year ago.

If I do another cycle, I may stop the statin and just go with niacin and plant sterols while on. I take my hdrol in the am, and my statin at night, so hopefully that at least minimizes any increased risk.

Actually, I think there was some type of issue with RYR. The pharmaceutical companies didn't want competition, so I believe they file some sort of law suit of some sort.

Any RYR out on the market I believe has been extracted of any type of statin.
 
^^^I believe this is correct to some extent. RYR on the market is not allowed to contain the high levels of monacolin K that some brands once did. I'm not even sure at this point how much, if any, is allowed to exist in OTC RYR.

We also offer a RYR free version, which utilizes Beta Sitosterol in place of the RYR. I think it tastes better than the original.

EDIT: Can somebody please post links from the FDA that are in reference to this. I can't seem to find them. I do remember reading warning letters to companies that were manipulating their Red Yeast Rice to grow contain high levels of Lovastatin (aka monacolin k), but I can't find anything banning the contents completely.

And FWIIW, it seems that for many people, simply taking appropriate doses of milk thistle and CoQ10 are able to overcome the negative liver sides that may be associated with RYR. I've had bloodwork that came back in all the acceptable ranges after using Cycle Support. Jayhawkk has posted great bloodwork after using Cycle Support (contains RYR)...and many others have experienced this as well.

Anyway, just do your research b/c everybody responds differently and there are many differing opinions about statins...especially in terms of long-term use.
