Commencing Thyroid Replacement

Hey just need some info on what dose of thyroid i should be on.

The Tablets i have contain 15mcg T4, 5mcg T3.

I am taking IV B Vitamins and Intravenous Vitamin C 30grams every week or every 2 weeks. + Soon to take IV Gluthonine

Also i have read that thyroid hormones deplete iodine from the body and something like lugol's solution 3 drops a day would be good to use it simulatiously which i have. Also iodine is good for correcting estrogen problems to some degree.

I have other problems like low T, GH low. cortisol bit high etc... but i want to tackle one issue at a time and this is something that will help me with my fatigue, brain fog, energy, thinking etc... and until i remove my mercury from the body completely i cannot start any testosterone replacement obviously.

I dont want to use too a high a dose of thyroid as i know my adrenals wont handle this very well.

Im 6"2-6"3 and 96kgs.

Do these tests first, post results.

Your shoting your self in the foot with out addressing adrenal issues first !!

Maybe but if i have to see how i will go first. Im taking IV's of vitamin C and B Vitamins which definitly should help with adrenals. Im on a B Complex Supplement +

These two supplements i am taking to support the immune system astra 8 immune tonic and cold flu, cough tonic have a lot of nutrients that support both the thyroid and adrenals...

Astragalus 1000mg, Codonopsis 500mg, Siberian Ginseng 450mg,
Ganoderma (Reishi) 500mg, Atractylodes 300mg, Ligustrum 300mg,
Schizandra 300mg, Licorice 150mg

Echinacea 500mg
Andrographis 375mg
Forsythia 400mg
Lonicera 425mg
Magnolia 275mg
Platycodon 275mg
Isatis 375mg

Most of these im having tested anyway from my recent blood tests i have to do...

But in summary from previous blood work my Free T4 is low normal 13.7 (12-22)ree T3 is low 2.4 (2.5-7.0). My Cortisol is elevated and My DHEA's are really low 3.2My T.S.H is also pretty high at 8.

Bringing the dhea/cortisol back into balance would help deal with the thyroid issues. Your rt3 are probably high in relationship to your ft3 (AKA -zinc, selenrium, iron, copper, cortisol imbalances). Giving 25 mgs of dhea or getting to the upper top range may be all that needs to resolve the adrenal issue

To the above list add TotalT3 and TotalT4

Check
TotalT3/RT3 ratio
if less than 10
you may have Wilson's Syndrome

Yea i will need some DHEA.... although it did give me estrogen issues even at 10mg per day when i used it before (gyno flaring up) so that tells you something about how i convert quickly to E.

But their are a lot of factors goin on with me at the moment, hormones, candida, immune system, possible hidden virus, mercury. So that is to be expected.

My RT3 is normal last time i checked it, so no wilson's syndrome.

Only thing im not testing is the Cortisol Binding Globulin which i will add.

Check metabolic pathways of what the DHEA is converting into
people with undermethylation have a hard time detoxfying estrogens ...

I am studying this RT3 issue.
It is really about Wilson’s syndrome
• Ratio of T3/RT3 < 10:1
---------------

Until couple days ago I did not see the need for TotalT3 testing.

When I tested my thyroid I used thyroid panel from Genova Diagnostics.
There is no TotalT3 there, but they have RT3 and my RT3 was ok, well, also other items that they tested were ok there (while on 2.5grains of Armour).
--
Originally my FreeT3 was low but I am taking 2.5Grains of Armour and FreeT3 is just right.
---
Now I am looking at my old thyroid test,
4/1/1995
T3Total=141ng/dL(99.0-195.0)
9/2/2005
Triiodothyroxine (T3)=121ng/dL(85-205)
and

my recent test
RT3=23.1ng/dL

141/23.1=6.1
121/23.1=5.2
both of ratios are well under 10 (and qualify for Wilson's).

Well I am for quite a while on this 2.5grains of Armour, so I am assuming that my TotalT3 went up,
but I wonder what would happen if I replaced Armour with T3 for few months.

1Grain Armour ---> T4=38mcg, T3=9mcg

2.5Grains---> 2.5*9=22.5mcg
this 22.5mcg would have to be slow release, wonder how important is that.

LiquidT3 would have to be dosed 2-3 times a day, I guess

Ron Rothenberg MD
recomends starting dose 7.5 mcg twice a day-->15mcg/day
latter increase to 15 mcg twice a day-->30mcg/day

----------http://muscle-----chatroom.com/forum/showpost.php?p=31225&postcount=9

I have already tried 3grains of Armour and it was little too much, so I assume that the 22.5mcg T3 should work right away..
.

At this time I am not making any changes, just loudly contemplating, but I will do more complete thyroid test on my next blood test.

You dont calculate the ratio using Total T3, you calculate the ratio using Free T3 to Reverse T3. Total T3 is completely useless. If you show high Total T3 and low temps, just mean you have low Cortisol, high Estrogen, or something binding up your Total T3.

Possibly someone else is doing what you say, I posted links to my references.
Post your reference, lets compare (I am just regurgitating, have no personal knowledge).

I have:
Wilson’s syndrome
• Ratio of T3/RT3 < 10:1

Yes and I am getting the DVD lecture from vegas conference. I was going to go out but it was way too much money..

its rt3/ft3 ratio not total t3

HAN
check units, it will newer work the way you posted but it does make sense when using T3/RT3

=======================================================

T3 Free 230-420 pg/dL= 0.23-0.42 ng/dL
T3,Total 60-181 ng/dL
T3, Reverse 11-32 ng/dL

nano n 10-9
pico p 10-12
1pico=0.001 nano
========================================================

BTW,

there are opinions that make even more sense (to me) and no need to to check T3/RT3.

it say something along this line:
someone who have perfect thyroid numbers, (not sure if that is naturally or adjusted with medicine)
but
still have low basal temperature
should try T3 to get rid of RT3

if it works
(in hindside) you can say that he have Wilson's syndrome.

======================================================

There are 2 or 3 lectures on thyroid, by Ron Rothenberg MD
they are less than two months old, (Dec 11/2008)
Each $20

I hate to spend the money because my thyroid behaves ok.

I use 2.3 for ft3 and use 14-32 for reverse t-3
I use my own judgement when I see high rt3 it usually flags me LOL
i am usually correct 99% of the time..

Yes it will work i forget how you do it though, i think you divide Free T3 by RT3 or something Val does it and it does work but im too lazy right now to go check it out.

Just read the instruction, it is not complicated.

And the reason for dealing with
T3-Total
and
T3-reverse

is because
the whole topic that is under discussion is inproper conversion from

T4--->T3
T4--->T3-Reverse

In May/June of last year these we're my results:

Reverse T3: 261 pmol/L (140 - 540)

Free T3: 2.4 pmol/L (2.5 - 6.0)
Free T4: 10 pmol/L (8 -22 )

My temperature this morning was 36.2C.

So what is my ratio then?

This is confusing...

In post #12 on this thread
when talking of ratio we are talking T3/RT3

So far I am missing value for T3 to figure out the ratio.
T3-total T3
it is different than FreeT3
==================================================
But I have observation on the data that you have posted.

Reverse T3: 261 pmol/L (140 - 540)---->(30%)

Free T3: 2.4 pmol/L (2.5 - 6.0)---->(-3%)
Free T4: 10 pmol/L (8 -22 )----->(14%)

I would say that because your do not have much RT3 (30%) that is a good news. I would not worry about WilsonTemperatureSyndrome.

I bet that your body temperature will go up when you take care of your very low FreeT3.
You FreeT3 is below low range.

It is good to raise it to almost the top range.
ArmourThyroid, Thyroid-S or other natural pigs derivated thyroid hormones are used.
With the starting numbers like above the first stop would be at 3grains.
Two months after reaching this 3grains dose blood check.

Watching and supporting adrenals is a must when using thyroid medicine.
