AHAHAHAHAH!!! I might try the overhead lunges but **** overhead squats!

Used to do a lot of overhead squats when I was doing a lot of oly lifting. Doing a sheiko program now, so don't have time to work in the oly stuff, but I loved the OH Squat. Think the best I got was 205x3, AMAZING for core strength and shoulder flexibility.

It's actually a very good indicator of balance and mobility.. So, if you can't do it.. You have some things to work on sir.

It uses soooo many more conjoining muscles at once it's crazy. Master moves like that and your golden.

Click on the link on my signature - Crossfit Movie...you will see a guy doing the overhead squat in there.

The overhead squat is the second phase of the Olympic lift "The Snatch", nothing stupid or dangerous about it, as viewed here:

EDIT: For the mentally retarded who cannot identify the snatch, it's the first lift she does....

I love the manner in which he puts the weight down.

That is also retarded. When he slams the weight like that the force of the loaded barbell hits the floor and since the floor does not break*, the force is returned back to him X2, to his body. In that leaning/bent over position he's in, two time the force is not really healthy.

*Another example: When Martial Artists hit an object to break it (Plywood, brick, etc...) and it's a success the force they generated to break the object is not an issue, however, if they do not break the object, the force will jump back at them twice as hard.

PlainJane Bodybuilders.....there's more to life than bicep curls and peck deck machines....don't be afraid! :haha:

That makes no sense at all. Where is this generated force coming from? If the weight hits the ground carrying a force of F, the force in the reverse direction will be F, therefore being equal; not twice the force. Ideally the weight stops dead, but with bouncing the weight off the ground it is the same force; it's just the force is applied as an impulse rather than a instantaneous ideal force.

If you modeled that impulse as an equation and integrated it for the variable it was solved for (T or S) over it's limits the entire force would again equal F.

When a block is broken some of the force is taken up to break the bonds holding the solid together; however if that block does not break your hand would experience the full force your fist/head/foot/whatever had heading into the block, or 1F. Not 2F. If you want to get really picky it would be -F, but still only 1X :27:
