Interfering with my new training schedule. I was supposed to start a high volume bulk yesterday and it totally screwed my schedule. Totally draining me of my energy

Been dosing Orange TRIad and Echinecia throughout the day.

Any other good home remedies?

eating more helped me get rid of mine! along with Echinecia and more poseidon :)

Lots of Vitamin C spread throughout the day (if it's a virus you have).

Lots of rest. Just sleep as much as possible. It's a really hard to do but if you can stop yourself from lifting and just sleep instead, the sickness will go away faster. Otherwise it will just linger.

Food, rest, and plenty of water. Last cold I had, I still had energy to go to the gym. Long as I took a hit of nasal spray prior. I am pretty relentless about missing training days. That cold only lasted 4 days.

Plenty of water
GSE
GTE- anti-viral, has to be substantial dose
Blueberries (as many as you can eat)
Strawberries
Oranges
Blackberries
Raspberries
Garlic- anti-bacterial, has to be substantial dose
zinc losenges (take with food)
ephedra- won't get rid of the cold, but will clear you up and make you feel well enough to train
Res-V- anti-viral, has to be substantial dose
quercetin- anti-viral, has to be substantial dose

when I say substantial dose- not what you are going to find in most OTC multi-vits or anti-oxidant formulas- amounts have to be at least 200-400 mg/day of a GOOD extract (50% for Res-V, 95% or higher for quercetin, GTE, and GSE)

Our Bio-Mend @ 3-4 capsules per day is a good option- only 7 ingredients, so a substantial dosage of each constituent

What he said. I load up on extra zinc and vit C for a few days. Zinc and green tea extract in particular make it hard for viruses to replicate.

HGH boosters can help as well since HGH boosts the immune system. I just killed a cold using all of the above and rms80's IGF-2, although any L-Dopa product would help.

But the most important supp is SLEEP.

Stay well hydrated and rest up. Viral Syndromes are self limiting, so utilize some of what i've listed to mitigate symptoms. Get well soon, brother!

I just had a nasty URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) over thanksgiving.

Zicam zinc nasal swabs have been my go to in a pinch. I feel well enough to train about within 2 days of taking them. Ephedra, Zinc swabs, sleep and water.

Definitely. Zicam is a good zinc product, with effective delivery.

I starting feeling off yesterday and today I have a nice chest cold with a raw throat and cough. Love it. I always seem to get sick around Christmas time. Anyways, I came home early from work and am going to lay down in a few. Sleep, a crap load of water, zinc, and more sleep always work well for me.

Up your dosage of Zinc and vitamin C and get a lot of rest. If it is anything like I had it will travel from your chest to your sinuses and back again. Also the green death flavored cough medicine for the night time is the only way to go.

RMS80's advise is great. Zicam is very good too.

Personally, I use a few things when i get, or feel I'm getting a cold.

1. Real mexican food with lots of HOT salsa and chili. I love my local taco cart. The spicy food drains and clears my sinuses completely and, i kid you not, almost always makes me cough up phlem from my lungs wether I'm sick or not. The onions, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapenos and other chilis are PACKED with super healthy vitamins and phytochemicals. A couple of meals like that usually wipe it out for me. Your bowels may regret it in the morning, but it is highly worth it IMHO. Just take some pepto or antacid.

2. Supplement with extra GSE and GTE w/ Forskolin, ginseng and vitamine D and C. Also, an extra Gut Health pro biotic and Zinc.

3. Make sure I eat enough protein and carbs, but no simple sugar stuff or junk food.

4. Make some tea out of the juice of a few lemons, honey, and ginger. Honey helps coat the throat real well and gets the ginger and lemon to really destroy the little germs. Also use traditional teas like peppermint, licorice, ginseng and green tea. Using the teas is kinda last resort for me though just because I'm lazy.

These usually work for me. I hate going to the doctor when I'm sick, but sometimes I just have to do it. These 4 things I've picked up over the years have stopped colds in their tracks even when I was sure I would have to go to the doc the next day.

However, it's better to go to the doc if it gets real nasty and won't let up despite these sorts of home remedies. One reason to consider in particular is that some bacteria (think strep or similar) when left untreated can make its way to the heart and do irreparable damage to it. Not worth saving the 20-30 dollar co-pay to not go and get anti biotics.
